Abstract

One learning approach that can be chosen by teachers who teach mathematics in upper class (class IV, V, VI) is by correlating or connecting mathematics. Mathematics connection is correlation among mathematics topics, correlation among mathematics and other sciences, and correlation between mathematics and real life or daily life. In this research, it is studied mathematics connection ability of upper class teachers on aljabar topic that is measured by contextual questions and factors influencing them. The population in this research is Islamic Elementary School teachers in Surakarta residency, either state or private, who teach mathematics in upper class. Meanwhile, the sample, 65, is taken randomly from the population by using cluster sample collection technique. The statistics analysis technique used is descriptive and explorative statistics and ordinal logistic regression analysis. In mathematics connection ability with other sciences, almost half (43.6 %) class teachers can answer at the highest level (complete answer). It is more than the number of subject matter teacher that is less than one-fifth (17.4 %). Explanatory variable which is included in this model is teacher status variable (class teacher and subject matter teacher). It doesnt influence significantly to teacher level in inter topic mathematics connection ability question and in mathematics connection ability question with real life or daily life. However, explanatory variable of teacher status influences significantly to teacher answer level in mathematics connection ability question with other sciences. Based on the result of ordinal logistic regression analysis, the estimated odds is 0.275. The estimated odds that class teachers answer is in low level answer, that is 0.275 times the estimated odds for subject matter teachers answer. So, class teachers answer in low level is less than subject matter teachers answer. Next, based on confidence interval 95 % of odds ratio value, it can be explained that class teacher has less probability (0.103-0.734 times), than subject matter teacher to answer in low level, in questions measuring mathematics connection ability with other sciences.

Abstract

In this research, it is examined the use of online mathematics game for portfolio assessment of elementary school students. In the beginning of the study, it will be mapped the availability and the model of online mathematics game based on mathematics material of elementary school. Next, it will be examined the substance of self-evaluation and feedback that can be the basic for portfolio assessment. The research is classified into qualitative descriptive research with the source of the data is website reference that can be used to mathematics portfolio assessment of Elementary School students. The finding of the research is that one of the websites uses to mathematics portfolio assessment of Elementary School students is the use of online mathematics game. Now, one of online mathematics game containing self-evaluation and feedback is mathplayground.com. That site contains not less than 133 online mathematics game online for first until sixth grade students. The mathematics game daring materials are multiple diverse, containing number, geometry, measurement, and data display. In that online mathematics game, there is also material to self-evaluation and feedback that can be the base for teacher to portfolio assessment, that is the show of trophy and game certificate that can be printed. The show of trophy contains information about student quality in playing certain game, while certificate game as the evidence that student succeeds in finishing the game containing some levels.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui: 1) Tingkat kecerdasan intrapersonal siswa kelas V; 2) Minat belajar matematika siswa kelas V; 3) Hubungan antara kecerdasan intrapersonal dengan minat belajar matematika siswa kelas V dan mengetahui model regresi linier sederhana antara kedua variabel. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional. Populasi siswa kelas V MI se-Kabupaten Karanganyar berjumlah 290 siswa dengan jumlah sampel 148 siswa yang diambil menggunakan teknik sampling area, namun hanya 148 data yang dianalisis. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kecerdasan intrapersonal siswa kelas V berada pada kategori sedang sebesar 54,70%; (2) Minat belajar matematika siswa kelas V berada dalam kategori sedang sebesar 51,40%; (3) Terdapat hubungan yang positif antara kecerdasan intrapersonal dengan minat belajar siswa kelas V dengan nilai  0,870 >  0,159,  Model regresi linier sederhananya adalah  = 22,978 + 0,851X. Model tersebut mengandung makna bahwa disetiap penambahan 1 satuan kecerdasan intrapersonal akan mampu meningkatkan minat belajar matematika siswa sebesar 0,851 satuan, sehingga dapat disimpulkan, semakin tinggi kecerdasan intrapersonal pesert didik, maka semakin meningkat pula minat belajarnya.

Abstract

Based on researcher’s observation on PAI undergraduate student’s thesis that used quatitative research method, there are many statistical calculation mistakes. Those mistakes happened in many students’thesis. Students’ habit who prefer copying the stage of statistics computation on he previous thesis than studying statistics book. In this research, it is mapped statistics mistakes in PAI students’ thesis using quantitative research in XXV until XXX graduation period. In six recent graduation period, PAI FITK IAIN Surakarta have passed 607 students.  The result of this research is that generally there are two mistakes in statistics, as follows. One, the lack of understanding on statistics concept covering: (a) mistake in making frequency distribution as part of the stage of describing data, (b) mistake in processing the result of Chi Quadrate as normality test, (c) unit analysis that is used up till now is not sufficient, (d) mistake in choosing statistics analysis tool, (e) the existence of outlier and influential observation in data impact significnstly the result of correlation analysis and linie regression analysis. Two, the urgency of using calculation tool in the form of statistics program consisting of mistake in writing statistics formula and mistake in calculation process.Keywords: Quantitative Research, Thesis

Abstract

This research is aimed at discussing misconceptions of college students of Islamic elementary school teacher education about higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). The method used in this research is qualitative and quantitative descriptive method. This research is conducted in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The respondents are 64 fifth-semester college students of an Islamic elementary school teacher education study program, education faculty, State Islamic University of Raden Mas Said Surakarta. Twenty-five true-false questions are used to review misconceptions about HOTS. Most questions (63 %) are of medium-level difficulty, 30 % of questions are difficult, and 7 % questions are easy. Misconceptions about HOTS that are difficult for respondents, namely: (1) Kind of HOTS questions will be HOTS questions although tested at different time, (2) The questions having been made by using Bloom Taxonomy auxiliary verbs, they have been able to measure wished question level, (3) HOTS questions must be made in scientific sentences and need very good ability to understand those sentences, (4) By discussing contextual problem, automatically the questions will be HOTS, (5) Questions dealing with stimulus and contextual are always HOTS questions, and (6) LOTS (Low Order Thinking Skill) questions without stimulus will be HOTS questions by adding stimulus.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of the use of interactive media on the ability of elementary school Islamic teacher education students in understanding and developing questions that need the ability to think at a high level. The method used in this research is the Research and Development method. This research consists of 3 stages, namely: (1) introduction stage, (2) draft arrangement stage, and (3) development and evaluation stage. Based on the discussion, it can be concluded that: (1) interactive media developed has been interesting for 155 students involved in the main field trial, (2) The effect of the use of interactive media to the ability of elementary school Islamic teacher education students in understanding and developing questions that need higher order thinking skill refers to: (a) the average score of the understanding about the background and the definition of HOTS and the average score of the understanding about increasing the level of LOTS questions to HOTS questions in the group not using interactive media is lower than the group using interactive media, (b) the average score of misconception about HOTS in the group not using interactive media is higher than the group using interactive media, and (c) the students can make five HOTS questions in algebra, number and its operation material. It can be seen from the score of the students is 4,3796 on 5 scale.

Abstract

Numerical methods play a crucial role in solving non-linear equations that cannot be solved analytically. This study compares the use of two software tools, Matlab and Maple, in determining the roots of non-linear equations using the bisection method. This method iteratively divides the root search interval into two parts until the specified error tolerance is reached. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, where two non-linear equations are tested using Matlab and Maple. The analysis results show that both software tools provide nearly identical outputs, with minimal differences due to variations in numerical representation. Matlab excels in numerical programming flexibility and data visualization, while Maple is easier to use as it has built-in functions for the bisection method. The findings of this study are expected to provide insights for users in selecting appropriate software to solve numerical method problems.

Abstract

Persamaan tak linier sering dijumpai dalam berbagai bidang, seperti fisika, teknik, dan ekonomi. Salah satu metode numerik yang sering digunakan untuk mencari akar dari persamaan tak linier adalah metode Newton-Raphson. Dengan kemajuan teknologi, berbagai perangkat lunak kini digunakan untuk mempermudah perhitungan numerik. Dalam konteks alat yang digunakan untuk analisis data, perbandingan antara Python dan Microsoft Excel telah menjadi bahan diskusi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode komparatif untuk menganalisis perbedaan hasil antara objek yang dibandingkan serta mengetahui mana yang lebih efektif dan efisien. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Python lebih unggul dalam hal akurasi hasil, automasi iterasi, kecepatan perhitungan, fleksibilitas perubahan fungsi, reproduksibilitas, dan skalabilitas. Namun, Python memerlukan pengetahuan pemrograman dan kurang user-friendly bagi pemula. Sedangkan alat bantu Microsoft Excel lebih unggul dalam hal kemudahan penggunaan dan kompatibilitas dengan software Microsoft, tetapi kurang cocok untuk masalah yang kompleks atau memerlukan banyak iterasi. Microsoft Excel juga rentan terhadap kesalahan manual dan kurang skalabel.

Abstract

Jumlah kelahiran di Indonesia merupakan indikator penting untuk perencanaan pembangunan nasional. Permasalahan yang dihadapi adalah kebutuhan akan metode praktis untuk memperkirakan jumlah kelahiran berdasarkan data yang tersedia. Penelitian ini bertujuan menerapkan metode interpolasi Polinomial Lagrange menggunakan Microsoft Excel untuk mempermudah perhitungan dan visualisasi data. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, melalui tahapan pengumpulan data, penyusunan polinomial orde satu hingga tiga, penerapan rumus di Excel, dan analisis hasil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Polinomial Lagrange mampu memberikan estimasi jumlah kelahiran yang mendekati data aktual, dengan Microsoft Excel sebagai alat bantu yang efektif dalam mempercepat proses komputasi. Metode ini dapat menjadi solusi praktis dalam analisis prediksi data demografis

Abstract

Implementasi konsep turunan tidak hanya digunakan dalam penyelesaian turunan fungsi eksplisit secara analitik saja, pada praktiknya juga diperlukan pendekatan numerik untuk menentukan hampiran fungsi yang kompleks maupun hampiran pada data diskrit. Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai akurasi dan kemudahan implementasi aplikasi komputasi Python dan Maple dalam menyelesaikan turunan numerik menggunakan metode selisih, baik metode selisih maju, selisih mundur, maupun selisih pusat. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen yang terdiri atas tahapan meliputi perumusan masalah, pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, analisis data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Penilaian akurasi hasil turunan numerik pada aplikasi Python dan Maple dilakukan melalui nilai galat mutlak dan penilaian kemudahan implementasi dilihat dari proses pemrograman, tampilan output, dan kecepatan eksekusi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Python dan Maple sama-sama akurat dalam menyelesaikan turunan fungsi eksplisit yang rumit maupun data diskrit menggunakan turunan numerik metode selisih maju, selisih mundur, maupun selisih pusat. Metode selisih pusat memiliki galat terkecil, artinya metode selisih pusat menghasilkan nilai yang paling mendekati turunan eksaknya. Python unggul dalam kecepatan eksekusi dan ketelitian hasil, sedangkan Maple lebih unggul dalam kemudahan penulisan fungsi.
