Abstract

This study aims to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of the Bisection Method and the False Position Method in solving non-linear equations using Excel and MATLAB software. Through literature studies and practical implementations, this study analyzes the characteristics of each method. Evaluations are carried out on the convergence, accuracy, and computational efficiency of both methods on both platforms. A case study of the non-linear equation x = 2x2 + 3x - 5 is solved by both methods in Excel and MATLAB. Based on the numerical method applied, the approximate roots for the non-linear equation are obtained. The results show that the Bisection Method produces the root of x = 0.999878 after 15 iterations, while the False Position Method provides faster convergence results by producing higher accuracy, namely producing the root of x = 0.999940 in only 10 iterations with an error tolerance of 0.0001. The implementation in Excel is done by compiling an iteration table, while MATLAB automates the iteration process. Thus, the False Position Method is superior in convergence speed compared to the Bisection Method. This study provides comprehensive insights into the application of numerical methods in solving non-linear equations and the factors that influence the performance of the methods in different computing environments.  Keywords: Bisection Method, False Position Methot, Non-Linear Equations, Excel, Matlab

Abstract

Lagrange polynomial interpolation is used to estimate the value of a function based on discrete data points. This research aims to explore and compare the effectiveness of the lagrange polynomial interpolation method using two technological approaches, namely the MATLAB software and the Android-based application Numerical Methods: Calculator. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a comparative method to test the efficiency, accuracy of results, ease of use, and visualization of both applications. The results show that MATLAB excels in computational capabilities and visualization, while the Numerical Method: Calculator application is more accessible and suitable for learning. This research contributes to the selection of learning aids and the solution of lagrange polynomial interpolation problems tailored to user needs and the complexity of the issues.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital mendorong kebutuhan akan integrasi perangkat lunak komputasi dalam pembelajaran mtematika, khususnya pada materi analisis numerik seperti interpolasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penerapan metode interpolasi Newton dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan numerik dengan bantuan perangkat lunak Microsoft Excel dan MATLAB. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan teknik eksperimen komputasi terhadap dua set data numerik yang masing-masing dianalisis menggunakan Microsoft Excel dan MATLAB. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa kedua perangkat lunak menghasilkan interpolasi yang identik, yang menunjukkan bahwa algoritma Newton dapat diterapkan secara konsisten dan akurat pada kedua platform. Microsoft Excel menunjukkan keunggulan dalam hal visualisasi data dan kemudahan penggunaan antarmuka, yang cocok untuk pengguna pemula atau pembelajaran interaktif. Sementara itu, keunggulan MATLAB dalam efisiensi dan fleksibilitas dibuktikan melalui struktur skrip otomatis dan perulangan bersarang yang mempersingkat proses penghitungan untuk data berukuran besar. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya pemanfaatan kedua alat secara komplementer dalam pembelajaran matematika berbasis teknologi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep, keterampilan komputasi, dan literasi numerik siswa di era digital.

Abstract

This study aims to implement and compare the effectiveness of the secant method in solving nonlinear equations using two different computational applications microsoft excel and maple. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with a comparative methodology. The secant method, which is part of numerical methods commonly used to determine the roots of nonlinear equations, was separately implemented on each software platform. The process of solving the nonlinear equation through secant iterations was explored and executed independently on both tools. The results of the implementation show that both applications are capable of producing similar root values for the given equation. However, Microsoft Excel offers an advantage in visualizing the iterative process in a detailed and step-by-step manner, allowing users to clearly understand how the solution is derived through each stage of calculation. In contrast, Maple tends to present the final outcome of the iteration process without displaying the detailed steps involved. This study analyzes the strengths and limitations of each application in the context of implementing the secant method for solving nonlinear equations.

Abstract

The problem in this study is that most students still talk to their peers and even do other activities outside of SKI learning. The purpose of this study has three objectives, namely to (1) determine the effect of reward types on SKI learning interest in grade VII students at MTs N 3 Boyolali, (2) knowing the effect of punishment forms on SKI learning interest in class VII students at MTs N 3 Boyolali, (3) knowing the interaction between reward types and punishment forms in influencing SKI learning interest in class VII students at MTs N 3 Boyolali. The research method used is a quantitative method of experimentation. The place of this research was conducted at MTs Negeri 3 Boyolali. The time of the study starts from January 2018 until January 2019. Data collection uses a questionnaire method filled by 150 students and observation in class. The results of the validity and validity test use the product moment formula. Test the reliability of the interest in learning using the split technique. The data analysis test uses mean, median, mode, standard deviation and line box diagrams. Hypothesis testing uses two-way anava. The results showed that (1) there was an effect of the type of reward on SKI learning interest in grade VII students at MTs N 3 Boyolali with sig. equal to 0,000, (2) there is an influence of the form of punishment on the interest in learning SKI in class VII students at MTs N 3 Boyolali with sig. equal to 0,000, (3) there is no interaction between the types of rewards and forms of punishment in influencing the interest in learning SKI at the level of 5%, while at the level of 10% there is an interaction between the types of rewards and forms of punishment in influencing the interest in learning of SKI grade VII students at MTs N 3 Boyolali with sig. amounted to 0.073. The explanation for the interaction is as follows: punishment form of reprimand if combined with reward rewards and praise can increase students' interest in learning SKI, as well as punishment of logical consequences combined with reward rewards. However, if the reward of praise is combined with the logical consequences of student interest in learning SKI is low. So it can be concluded that if punishment punishment is combined with reward rewards and praise then students' interest in learning is high, so is the logical consequence punishment combined with reward rewards. However, if the reward of praise is combined with the logical consequences of punishment, students' interest in learning SKI is low.

Abstract

Nonlinear equations frequently arise in various disciplines and require numerical methods for their solutions. One commonly used numerical method is the Bisection Method, which works by narrowing the search interval for the root. Although this method is relatively simple, its effectiveness can be enhanced through computational tools. However, few studies have specifically compared solving the Bisection Method manually, using Google Colab with Python, and using Microsoft Excel. This study aims to evaluate and compare these three approaches in terms of accuracy, computational efficiency, and ease of implementation. The research employs a quantitative comparative approach. The results indicate that Google Colab offers the best computational efficiency through automation, while Microsoft Excel provides a more intuitive solution for users unfamiliar with programming. Manual computation remains relevant for understanding the fundamental concepts of the method but is less efficient in practice. These findings are expected to assist students and researchers in selecting the appropriate tool for effectively solving nonlinear equations ABSTRAKPersamaan nonlinear sering muncul dalam berbagai disiplin ilmu dan memerlukan metode numerik untuk penyelesaiannya. Salah satu metode numerik yang umum digunakan adalah Metode Bagi Dua (Bisection Method). Metode ini dilakukan dengan mempersempit interval pencarian akar. Meskipun metode ini sederhana, efektivitasnya dapat ditingkatkan dengan penggunaan alat komputasi. Namun, belum banyak penelitian yang secara spesifik membandingkan penyelesaian Metode Bagi Dua menggunakan Google Colab dengan bahasa Python dan menggunakan Microsoft Excel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan ketiga pendekatan tersebut dalam hal akurasi, efisiensi waktu, dan kemudahan implementasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif komparatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Google Colab memberikan efisiensi waktu terbaik dengan otomatisasi komputasi, sementara Microsoft Excel menawarkan solusi yang lebih intuitif bagi pengguna yang tidak familiar dengan pemrograman. Penyelesaian manual tetap relevan untuk memahami konsep dasar metode ini, tetapi kurang efisien dalam praktiknya. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat membantu mahasiswa dan peneliti dalam memilih alat yang sesuai untuk menyelesaikan persamaan nonlinear secara efektif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal yang mengedepankan Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), dengan mempertimbangkan tingkat self-confidence mereka. Kemampuan komunikasi matematis merupakan indikator penting dalam memahami dan menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Dalam penelitian ini, pendekatan yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan subjek terdiri dari tiga siswa kelas VIII di SMPN 3 Ngawi yang dipilih berdasarkan tingkat self-confidence mereka: tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket, tes tertulis, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan self-confidence tinggi berhasil memenuhi semua indikator komunikasi matematis. Mereka mampu memahami soal, merefleksikannya ke dalam model matematika, serta menafsirkan dan menyimpulkan hasil dengan bahasa mereka sendiri. Sebaliknya, siswa dengan tingkat self-confidence sedang dapat memenuhi sebagian besar indikator, tetapi masih belum melakukannya secara sistematis dan sering merasa ragu saat menyampaikan ide. Di sisi lain, siswa yang memiliki self-confidence rendah hanya mampu menafsirkan hasil tanpa dapat mengonstruksi model atau solusi secara tepat. Temuan ini menegaskan peran penting self-confidence siswa dalam mencapai kemampuan komunikasi matematis, khususnya dalam menyelesaikan soal HOTS.

Abstract

Abstract. Teaching skills are one of the essential competencies that education students must possess as prospective teachers. However, in reality, many students still struggle to implement teaching skills effectively during microteaching courses. This study aims to analyze the teaching skills of Tadris Mathematics students in microteaching courses. The method employed in this research is descriptive quantitative. Data were obtained from the assessment sheets of the lecturers who taught the microteaching course. The sample comprised all Tadris Mathematics students at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, semester 6, who enrolled in microteaching courses, totaling 82 students divided into six classes. The results indicated that there are four indicators of teaching skills in the very good category, eight indicators in the good category, ten indicators in the adequate category, and three indicators in the poor category. Students demonstrated excellent opening and closing skills and demonstrated positive verbal and nonverbal performance, such as clear language use and an attractive appearance. However, they still needed reinforcement in developing HOTS skills, implementing the TPACK approach and problem or project based learning, and developing HOTS based assessments. Thus, there remains a dominance of teaching skill indicators that fall within the adequate and poor categories, highlighting the need for further intervention and improvement. Each student's teaching skills improved from the first to the third practice. The variation in teaching skills among students decreased, demonstrating that students' teaching skills became more uniform and stable. Most of the students fall into the good and very good categories. The development of students' teaching skills is supported by four vital principles in microteaching learning, namely the principle of practice, the principle of reinforcement, the principle of evaluation, and the principle of precision supervision. This research is expected to provide an understanding of the role of microteaching in shaping the teaching skills of prospective teachers and a basis for developing more effective microteaching strategies.

Abstract

Motivasi belajar menjadi aspek esensial siswa agar dapatmemaksimalkan pembelajaran. Namun, motivasi belajar siswa dikelas VIII MTsN 4 Klaten masih belum mencapai hasil maksimal,mengindikasikan pentingnya media pembelajaran yangmengoptimalkan keterlibatan siswa. Penelitian ini mengkajiperbedaan: (1) motivasi belajar siswa sebelum dan sesudaheksperimen media ZEP Quiz dalam model TGT; (2) motivasibelajar siswa sebelum dan sesudah eksperimen media flashcarddalam model TGT; serta (3) motivasi belajar siswa sesudaheksperimen media ZEP Quiz dan flashcard dalam modelpembelajaran TGT. Metode kuantitatif dengan rancanganeksperimen semu nonequivalent control group design digunakandalam penelitian ini. Sebanyak 167 siswa kelas VIII MTsN 4Klaten menjadi populasi penelitian, sedangkan sampel ditetapkanmelalui teknik cluster random sampling yaitu kelas VIII A dan kelasVIII B. Validitas dan reliabilitas diujikan pada angket motivasibelajar untuk mengumpulkan data. Analisis data mencangkupanalisis deskriptif, pengujian normalitas dan homogenitas, sertauji hipotesis mencangkup paired dan independent sample t-test.Berdasaarkan hasil analisis dinyatakan: adanya perbedaanmotivasi belajar setelah eksperimen media ZEP Quiz dan flashcarddalam model pembelajaran TGT, namun tidak terdapatperbedaan yang signifikan antara motivasi belajar siswa padakelas yang menggunakan media ZEP Quiz maupun kelas yangmenggunakan media flashcard dalam model pembelajaran TGT.
