Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Diabetic nephropathy is a degenerative kidney vascular disorder that has a relationship with impaired carbohydrate metabolism or sugar intolerance (Diabetes Mellitus). Black turmeric (Curcuma Caesia Roxb.) is widely used by the community as a traditional medicine and has potential as an antidiabetic.Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of black turmeric extract on decreasing blood glucose levels and its effect on improving kidney histopathology in diabetic nephropathy rats.Method: This research was conducted at the Laboratory of the Center for Food and Nutrition Studies, University of Gajah Mada for the period October-November 2022 consisting of 6 groups. STZ-Na induced rats to obtain a state of hyperglycemia. Examination of blood glucose levels using the GOD-PAP method (enzymatic photometric test).Results: The percentage of blood glucose is decreased levels was 16.75% and repaired kidney histopathology was 6.67% as a score mild damage category (1).Conclusion: Black turmeric rhizome extract (Curcuma Caesia Roxb.) can reduce blood glucose levels and improve kidney function at a dose of 400 mg/kg BW.

Abstract

Background :  Lack of public understanding and knowledge regarding the correct and appropriate use of antibiotics is one of the factors that triggers antibiotic resistance. Tetracycline is the antibiotic most frequently used by the public. Based on its mechanism of action, tetracycline is included in the class of bacteriostatic antibiotics which work by inhibiting bacterial growth. Inappropriate use of tetracycline drugs can trigger resistance to tetracycline drugs. Purpose: The aim of this research is to  find out the level of knowledge about the use of tetracycline drugs purchased without a doctor's prescription in Bangselok sub-district. Method : This research was used the quantitative which is using the  observational study approach. Total  respondent were used in this are 98 peoples. Analysis in this study used descriptive. Result : there ware 55 respondent (56,1%) had good knowledge, 20  respondent (20,4 %) had sufficient knowledge, and 23 (23,5%) had lack of knowledge. Conclusion :  The level of community knowledge in Bangselok sub-district is good.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic degenerative disease whose prevalence continues to increase. Treatment of DM with pharmacological therapy is often expensive and causes side effects. This study explores the effectiveness of black turmeric (Curcuma caesia Roxb.) in reducing complications of diabetic nephropathy by reducing microalbumin and creatinine. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of black turmeric rhizome extract (Curcuma caesia Roxb.) in reducing serum creatinine and microalbumin levels in diabetic nephropathy model rats. Methods: This study used an in vivo method with rats induced with diabetes using STZ-NA and testing was carried out for 45 days. Serum creatinine and microalbumin were measured using a spectrophotometer and immunoturbidimetry. Results: This study showed that black turmeric extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg BW had an effectiveness equivalent to the positive control in reducing serum creatinine and microalbumin levels. The decrease in serum creatinine reached 20.10%, while the decrease in microalbumin reached 11.88%. The antioxidant and polyphenol content in black turmeric plays a role in reducing oxidative stress and inhibiting apoptosis in ? cells, which has an impact on reducing blood sugar levels and improving kidney function. Conclusion: Black turmeric extract (Curcuma caesia Roxb.) is effective in reducing serum creatinine and microalbumin levels in diabetic nephropathy model rats, with an optimal dose of 400 mg/kg BW. This study supports the potential of black turmeric as a natural therapeutic agent for diabetic nephropathy complications.

Abstract

Prioritas pertama dari program pembuangan kotoran di negara yang sedang berkembang harus menyatu pada perbaikan dan kesehatan masyarakat yaitu pelaksanaan pengurangan penularan penyakit yang ada hubungannya dengan kotoran manusia ataupun hewan. Adapun tujuan dari pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memanfaatkan kotoran hewan ternak menjadi biogas dalam upaya menurunkan prevalensi diare di Desa Jelbudan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Balai Desa Jelbudan Kecamatan Dasuk Kabupaten Sumenep pada Bulan Oktober 2024. Materi disampaikan menggunakan metode ceramah, praktik dan tanya jawab. Dari hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang telah dilakukan didapatkan data bahwasanya peserta kegiatan yang sebelumnya lebih separuh memiliki pengetahuan dalam kategori kurang tentang pemanfaatan kotoran hewan ternak menjadi biogas, perkembangbiakan vektor dan diare yang semula sebanyak 37 peserta menurun menjadi 6 peserta, dan untuk peserta kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang sebelumnya memiliki pengetahuan tentang pemanfaatan kotoran hewan ternak menjadi biogas, perkembangbiakan vektor dan diare dalam kategori baik yang semula 2 peserta naik menjadi 36 peserta

Abstract

Leukemia is one type of cancer with a high mortality rate, caused by the proliferation of abnormal white blood cells that disrupt hematopoiesis function. Conventional therapies, such as chemotherapy and targeted therapy, often face challenges in the form of side effects and drug resistance. This study aims to evaluate the potential of Catharanthus roseus as a leukemia therapeutic agent through in silico. The docking process uses autodock, and ADMET prediction uses SwissADME and PKCMS. The study used the ABL1 protein (PDB ID: 4TWP) as a target with active compounds of Catharanthus roseus. The validation process of the docking method showed an RMSD value of 0.705 Å, indicating that the method used was valid. The results of the docking simulation showed that vindoline had the best affinity after native ligands with a binding energy of -8.64 kcal/mol, followed by catharanthine -6.16 kcal/mol and tryptophan -3.87 kcal/mol. ADMET prediction analysis showed that vindoline and catharanthine had promising pharmacokinetic and toxicity profiles, such as good blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability and did not inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. These results indicate that vindoline and catharanthine are potential alternative leukemia treatments with high efficacy and low risk of side effects. This study provides a basis for further exploration of Catharanthus roseus in the development of effective and safe leukemia therapies.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a global health challenge with increasing drug resistance. This study aims to explore the potential of Andrographis paniculata as an alternative anti-TB therapy through an in silico approach. The study was conducted using the molecular docking method using Biovia Discovery Studio, AutoDock 1.5.7, and ChemDraw 3D software. The target proteins analyzed were 1TYP and 3R6C. which play a role in the biosynthesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell walls. The docking results showed that dehydroandrographolide and neoandrographolide compounds have lower binding energies than ethambutol, with ΔG values of -9.54 kcal/mol and -9.04 kcal/mol at 3R6C, respectively. Stable hydrogen and non-hydrogen interactions indicate a stronger inhibitory potential against protein targets. Pharmacokinetic analysis through SwissADME and PKCMS confirmed that this compound meets Lipinski's Rule of 5 criteria, and has lower toxicity compared to conventional TB drugs. Thus, this study provides new insights into the development of natural compound-based TB therapy, which is potentially more effective and has minimal side effects. Further studies are needed to confirm the activity of this compound through in vitro and in vivo tests.

Abstract

Antibiotik adalah obat yang paling sering digunakan untuk mengatasi infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri. Kurangnya informasi yang akurat dapat meningkatkan resistensi bakteri terhadap antibiotik, sehingga menyebabkan konsumsi yang tidak tepat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil penggunaan antibiotik pada konsumen di Apotek X Kabupaten Sumenep tahun 2024, dalam hal ini profil penggunaan antibiotik terdiri dari 3 yaitu indikasi pemberian antibiotik, jenis antibiotik dan lamanya terapi antibiotik. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif analitik yang menggunakan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel yang diambil sebanyak 40 responden yaitu konsumen di Apotek X Kabupaten Sumenep, setelah itu data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian didapatkan sebagian besar responden memiliki pengetahuan cukup mengenai indikasi pemberian antibiotik dan jenis antibiotik, sedangkan untuk lama terapi antibiotik sebagian besar responden memiliki pengetahuan kurang. Edukasi kepada masyarakat mengenai indikasi, jenis, dan lama penggunaan antibiotik sangat penting untuk mencegah penyalahgunaan dan resistensi antibiotik yang semakin meningkat. Banyak masyarakat yang masih menganggap antibiotik sebagai obat untuk semua jenis penyakit, termasuk infeksi virus seperti flu, padahal penggunaannya seharusnya hanya untuk infeksi bakteri tertentu dan berdasarkan resep dokter. Pemahaman yang tepat tentang jenis-jenis antibiotik dan perbedaan fungsinya juga penting agar tidak terjadi konsumsi sembarangan atau berbagi obat antar individu. Selain itu, durasi penggunaan antibiotik yang tidak sesuai, seperti menghentikan obat sebelum waktunya karena merasa sembuh, dapat menyebabkan bakteri tidak sepenuhnya mati dan memicu resistensi. Oleh karena itu, edukasi yang berkelanjutan dan mudah dipahami oleh masyarakat menjadi kunci dalam upaya mengendalikan resistensi antimikroba dan menjaga efektivitas pengobatan di masa depan
