Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are still a problem in Indonesia because the numbers are always increasing every year. STIs create a burden of morbidity and mortality and directly impacts a person's quality of life and reproductive health. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the relationship between sexuality and the incidence of STIs, which were selected consecutively using medical record data at one of the Primary Clinics in Jakarta from August 2022 to May 2023. The variables in this study were history of sexuality and current incidence of STIs at the time of the investigation. Statistical analysis using the Fisher Exact test. Of the 114 respondents, the average age was 30.93 years and 8.8% of respondents were positive for STIs status. The type of high-risk patient is non-MSM by 62.3%. The results of the Fisher Exact statistical test found that there was a significant relationship for the occurrence of STIs in the group of men with a tendency to be MSM (p-value: 0.040). Based on the data that has been analyzed, the group of men with a predisposition to MSM has a 3.853 times higher risk of being positive for STIs than the group of men without MSM.

Abstract

Aging is an inevitable and complex process. Cognitive impairment and depression are often seen as comorbid conditions and major mental health problems affecting the elderly. Both of these have become global issues and place a heavy burden on the health care system and society. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the relationship between depression and the incidence of cognitive impairment in the elderly group (³60 years) who meet the criteria by total sampling at the Sasana Tresna Werda RIA Development Center in January 2019. Depressive disorder was measured using the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) is used to measure and identify cognitive impairments. Statistical analysis using the Fisher Exact test. Of the 56 respondents, the average age was 78.13 years with 69.6% of the respondents being women. From all respondents, it was found that 10 respondents experienced depression and 23.2% of the elderly had cognitive disorders. The results of the Fisher Exact statistical test stated that there was a significant relationship between the incidence of depression and the onset of cognitive impairment in the elderly group at Sasana Tresna Werda RIA Development (p-value: 0.041). Clinically, the elderly with depressive disorders have a 2.875 times higher risk of experiencing cognitive impairment compared to the elderly without depression. Treating depression can reduce the number of cognitive impairments in the elderly.

Abstract

Measurement of haemoglobin (Hb) is a standard examination in pregnant women at the first prenatal visit that is used to evaluate physical status and anemia. One of the health conditions that often occurs and is important to note in reducing maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality is anemia in pregnancy, which can increase the risk of infection, preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, low birth weight babies, preterm birth, to death for both mother and child. fetus. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the difference in mean haemoglobin levels with the incidence of mild preeclampsia, severe preeclampsia and eclampsia which were selected according to the criteria by total sampling using medical record data in the period January 2020 - December 2020. The variables in this study consisted of the basic characteristics of the respondents (age mother and parity status), gestational age (weeks), and medical condition of the mother divided into three groups (mild, severe preeclampsia, and eclampsia). Statistical analysis using the Kruskall Wallis test. This study included 190 respondents with an average maternal age of 32 years and an average haemoglobin level of 10.86 with medical conditions dominated by severe preeclampsia (85.3%). The results of the study found that there was no significant difference in mean hemoglobin levels between the three groups of pregnant women (p-value: 0.235). To improve the quality of life of the mother and fetus, it is recommended that primary health services should be strengthened, prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of anemia in pregnancy should be prioritized.

Abstract

Colorectal carcinoma, a malignant neoplasm originating from the epithelial cells of the large intestine or rectum, poses a significant health problem worldwide. The estimated global incidence of colorectal cancer was 2.17 million cases in 2019. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, colorectal cancer ranks fifth among the most common cancer cases with a mortality rate of 9.5%. Demographic characteristics, including age, gender, ethnicity, and geographic location, have been extensively studied in relation to colorectal carcinoma. Understanding the patterns of differentiation and demographic characteristics associated with this disease is crucial for the diagnosis, treatment, and overall prognosis of patients. This study is a descriptive observational study that examines the demographic characteristics and differentiation of colorectal carcinoma patients. The study sample consists of a subset of the research population at Ciawi Regional General Hospital who underwent surgery from June 2021 to May 2023. A total of 21 respondents met the inclusion criteria, with a mean age of 54 years, and were predominantly female (57.1%). The results of this study indicate that poorly differentiated colorectal carcinoma generally occurs at a younger age compared to well and moderately differentiated cases. In terms of gender, females are more likely to experience colorectal carcinoma compared to males. Further research is needed to uncover the interactions between tumor biology, demographics, and clinical outcomes, with the ultimate goal of improving the prognosis and survival rates for individuals with colorectal carcinoma.

Abstract

In 2013, 4.6 million babies died worldwide before their first birthday, with 50% dying on the first day and nearly 75% within the first week. Most stillbirths and premature newborn deaths are attributable to birth complications that are preventable. The maternal profile in neonatal mortality cases plays an important role in understanding the factors that contribute to this high mortality rate. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the maternal profile of neonatal death cases at Ciawi Hospital, which were selected according to the criteria by total sampling based on medical record data from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2020. The variables utilized in this study include maternal factors such as gestational age, type of delivery, twin pregnancy, presentation of pregnancy, medical condition of the mother, and obstetric problems. The data is presented in a descriptive format. Among the 58 respondents, the average age was 30.26 years, with a higher prevalence of preterm births (55.2%). The most frequently encountered medical condition in the maternal profile of neonatal deaths at Ciawi General Hospital is chronic hypertension. Conversely, the most common obstetric problems are premature rupture of membranes and oligohydramnios. Efforts to address medical issues in mothers can contribute to the reduction of neonatal mortality cases.
