Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the linkage and explore what has determined the unemployment rate in Indonesia from 2000 to 2021 which include literacy rate, school enrolment, labour force participation and household and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) as the main explanatory variables. To control factors of unemployment and avoid spurious or misleading results, other than FDI, we include other macroeconomics variables such inflation, trade and interest rate. This study deploys timeseries regression and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) as the regression technique to estimate the coefficients of the linear function that best fits the data. To assess the model's assumptions and diagnose any potential issues that may affect the model's reliability and validity, the author applied heteroscedasticity, normality, multicollinearity, and autocorrelation test. All data are attained from World Development Index (WDI). Overall, HNC is the only determinant significantly increase level of Indonesia unemployment. While the increase of FDI may exacerbate Indonesia’s unemployment rate, LFP plays significant role in reducing the unemployment rate in Indonesia. The contribution of this paper lies in providing a nuanced understanding of the specific determinants of unemployment, with a particular emphasis on the significant impact of NPISHs. Based on the findings, policymakers should think about making investments in NPISHs to spur growth in the economy while generating job opportunities.

Abstract

The advancements in information and communication technology, particularly social media, have globally reshaped the business landscape. SMEs are expected to leverage these technologies to expand their markets, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen customer relationships. This research aims to identify the critical role of industry-academia partnerships in supporting the transformation of social media and information technology in SMEs. The study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method. Data for this research are sourced from scholarly articles indexed by Google Scholar from 2013 to 2024. The findings indicate that the transformation brought by social media and information technology has profoundly changed how SMEs operate. Through the adoption of social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, as well as e-commerce technologies, SMEs can extend their market reach, reinforce brand identity, and enhance direct interaction with potential customers at minimal costs. Information technology also supports efficiency in inventory management, order processing, and market analysis. Despite challenges such as technological skill gaps, partnerships among industry, academia, and government are crucial in enabling SMEs to optimally utilize these technologies

Abstract

Background: Transformational leadership is becoming increasingly relevant in the digital era, where the ability to rapidly adapt to new technologies and market changes is key to success. However, effective adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will not yield optimal impact without adequate digital literacy among MSME actors.Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between transformational leadership, ICT utilization, and MSME performance, with digital literacy as a mediating variable.Design/methodology/approach: This study uses a quantitative technique to investigate the correlations between pertinent variables using the SEM-PLS methodology. One hundred MSMEs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, were the subject of the study, which used an online questionnaire to gather data.Findings/Results: The findings of this study reveal that transformational leadership and ICT utilization have a positive and significant impact on MSME performance in the culinary, creative, and tourism sectors in Yogyakarta. Digital literacy is proven to be a mediating variable that strengthens the relationship between these two factors and MSME performance. Conclusion: Transformational leadership, ICT utilization, and digital literacy significantly enhance MSME performance in Yogyakarta's culinary, creative, and tourism sectors. Transformational leadership improves productivity, product quality, profitability, and revenue growth, while ICT utilization, supported by digital literacy, strengthens MSME performance. Digital literacy acts as a key mediator, amplifying the effects of leadership and technology adoption through competencies like photo-visual, reproduction, branching, information, and socio-emotional literacy, enabling MSMEs to maximize technological and leadership benefits.Originality/value (State of the art): This study uniquely integrates digital literacy as a mediating variable between transformational leadership, ICT utilization, and MSME performance in Yogyakarta's culinary, creative, and tourism sectors. It fills a gap in existing research by examining how digital literacy enhances the impact of transformational leadership and ICT on MSME success, offering new insights for digital transformation strategies in emerging markets. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between digital skills, product innovation, and user experience with the sales performance of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) on e-commerce platforms in Semarang. Based on the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theories, this study uses quantitative methods with Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) techniques to analyze data from 100 MSMEs active on digital platforms. The results showed that digital skills have a positive and significant impact on sales performance, as they are able to assist MSMEs in optimizing digital marketing and online transaction processes efficiently. In addition, product innovation also makes an important contribution by aligning products with consumer needs and preferences, thereby driving customer loyalty and expanding market share. User experience (UX) also plays a crucial role in influencing customer satisfaction levels and the likelihood of repeat purchases, which directly impacts sales. The findings confirm that MSMEs need to prioritize digital skills development, continuous product innovation, and e-commerce platform optimization to remain competitive in the growing digital economy. This research contributes to the literature by offering an integrated framework of how digital capabilities can help MSMEs to stay competitive in the digital economy.

Abstract

This study examines how the digital startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship education influence university students’ entrepreneurial intentions in Bandung City, with digital personality acting as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach using SEM-PLS was employed, with data collected through an online Likert-scale questionnaire that served as the primary research instrument for measuring perceptions of the digital startup ecosystem, entrepreneurship education, digital personality traits, and entrepreneurial intention. A total of 100 students were selected through purposive sampling, an approach considered sufficient for SEM-PLS analysis, particularly for exploratory models and moderate model complexity. The results show that both the digital startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship education positively influence entrepreneurial intention. However, the digital startup ecosystem exerts its effect only indirectly through digital personality traits such as technological adaptability, digital creativity, and confidence in digital environments. In contrast, entrepreneurship education demonstrates both direct and indirect effects on entrepreneurial intention. The study contributes theoretically by integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Theory of Digital Personality, emphasizing that digital personality acts as a psychological mechanism transforming educational and ecosystem stimuli into entrepreneurial motivation in digital contexts. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating digital personality development into entrepreneurship learning and offer contextual strategies to strengthen youth participation in digital-based entrepreneurship within creative urban ecosystems like Bandung.
