Abstract

Experiential learning in educational research studies has proven effective in improving students' academic performance. Therefore, it is important to check the Al-Quran for any verses that might be applicable in this situation. In Q.S. Al-Kahf [18]: 62–82, the narrative of Prophet Musa and Prophet Khidr is an example of experiential learning that will be examined in this study. The strategy is a qualitative strategy. This kind of investigation is done at libraries. The Al-Qur'an and books of interpretation served as primary data sources for this study's literature review, while articles from journals served as secondary data sources. At the same time, the maudhu'i interpretation approach is the one that is employed. The findings indicated that Prophet Musa's learning while he studied under Prophet Khidr implied several levels of experience-based learning, including: 1) the real experience stage, namely when Prophet Musa was directly involved in demonstrations conducted by Prophet Khidr; 2) the reflection observation stage, namely when Prophet Musa observed a series of events shown by Prophet Khidr from a sharia perspective; 3) the conceptualization stage, namely when the Prophet Khidr explained his actions during their journey; and 4) the implementation or experiment stage which is implicitly known from the process of training and habituation of patience carried out by Prophet Musa during his journey with Prophet Khidr.

Abstract

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces a profound challenge marked by a crisis of integrity and the dichotomy of knowledge, which often produces graduates with high cognitive competence but low levels of Taqwa (piety). This study aims to reconstruct a holistic and integrated framework of the Islamic Education Curriculum (IEC) grounded in the primary source of Islamic knowledge—the Quran. Employing a Qualitative Library Research approach combined with the Thematic Interpretation Method of key Quranic verses, namely QS. Al-Baqarah (2): 30, QS. An-Nahl (16): 125, and QS. Al-Maidah (5): 8, the research identifies four essential dimensions of the IEC: objectives that integrate Ubudiyah (devotion to Allah) and Khilafah (human stewardship on earth). substance emphasizing epistemic validity and comprehensive religious understanding (Tafaqquh Fiddin). pedagogical methods based on Justice operationalized through the three pillars of Hikmah, Mauizah Hasanah, and Jidal Ahsan. and evaluation that emphasizes Tazkiyah an-Nafs (purification of the soul) as the pathway toward Taqwa. The originality of this research lies in affirming that Justice must serve as the ethical foundation guiding all educational processes, as it represents the closest path to Taqwa. Consequently, this study proposes an Integrative Islamic Education Curriculum Model that centers on the practical application of Al-Adl to cultivate learners who are intellectually grounded, ethically upright, and spiritually devoted.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces a fragmentation of objectives between spiritual and pedagogical-instrumental orientations. Education tends to emphasize technical competence and market needs, while transcendental and Qur'anic values are marginalized. This article aims to reconstruct the teleology of Islamic educational objectives based on thematic interpretations of the Qur'an. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research. Primary data consists of Qur'anic verses on educational objectives, while secondary data include tafsir books, Ta'lim al-Muta'allim by az-Zarnuji, and contemporary Islamic educational literature. Analysis was conducted using the maudhu'i tafsir method of al-Farmawi and content analysis. The results show that the objectives of Islamic education are integrative, encompassing spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, and ubudiyah dimensions, making them relevant to addressing the challenges of contemporary education.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in the modern era has significantly transformed the education sector, including Islamic Religious Education (IRE). The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as an innovation that supports adaptive, effective, and learner-centred learning while redefining teachers’ roles as agents of educational transformation. This study aims to examine the concepts, applications, opportunities, and challenges of AI integration in IRE learning, with particular attention to teachers’ innovative orientation. The research employs a qualitative approach through library research by reviewing relevant scientific literature. The findings indicate that AI can enhance IRE learning by enabling personalized instruction, providing rapid feedback, and offering interactive learning experiences aligned with the characteristics of the digital generation. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limited technological infrastructure, gaps in teachers’ digital literacy, and the potential reduction of human interaction between teachers and students. In conclusion, teacher innovation is a crucial factor in optimizing the use of AI in Islamic education. Teachers are expected to act as facilitators, learning designers, and drivers of innovation who are able to integrate Islamic values with technological advancement to ensure that Islamic education remains relevant and competitive in the digital era.
