Abstract

Metta-bhavana is a meditation method intended to cultivate unconditional love for oneself and others. The aim of this research is to find out how participants in a one-day loving-kindness meditation impact their self-quality at Vihara Dhammacakka Jaya, North Jakarta. This research used a quantitative approach by sending questionnaires to 48 subjects aged 16 years and over. The results showed that daily loving-kindness meditation improved various participants' personal qualities. These include feelings of greater calm and peace, higher levels of patience, better relationships with others, and a decrease in negative feelings such as anger and resentment. More than 80% of participants agreed that loving-kindness meditation was beneficial on various self-quality indicators.

Abstract

This study explores the benefits of meditation for student achievement, focusing on the application of three components of information processing theory: cognitive processes, information storage, and executive cognition. The subjects of the study were randomly selected students from SMP Dharma Loka Pekanbaru. The service involved four meditation training sessions, including guided meditation and walking meditation techniques. The results showed that meditation helped students reduce stress, improve focus, and calm their minds. Participants reported improvements in cognitive abilities and emotional control. Observations over the four sessions indicated positive developments in students' attitudes and behaviors. This study confirms that meditation can be an effective tool for enhancing academic performance and emotional well-being among students. Overall, meditation proved to be a beneficial practice in supporting mental health and spirituality among students

Abstract

This article discusses the role of media in conveying information and learning in the context of technological developments, especially artificial intelligence (AI), as well as implementing it towards understanding spiritual teachings from religious literature, especially the Sutta Pitaka. The research uses qualitative and hermeneutic methods to analyze the concept of learning media in the Suttapiṭaka and its application in Buddha's life. In his Sutta studies, the Buddha used various imagery and visual devices to teach the Dhamma, making understanding easier for students. Learning media, such as in the story of Bhikkhu Culapanthaka, have an important role in facilitating understanding of complex concepts. However, the development of AI raises pros and cons regarding its use in education, with some concerns regarding dependency and lack of discipline. Nevertheless, the great potential of AI in the world of education must be developed wisely by educators. The importance of using appropriate learning media in the educational context is emphasized, along with the emphasis on active, innovative and creative learning paradigms. In conclusion, learning media plays an integral role in learning, while the use of AI in education has great opportunities but must be implemented with careful consideration by educators.

Abstract

Learning outcomes are one of the indicators of achieving educational goals, to overcome the achievement of learning outcomes that are less than optimal, SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung North Lombok Regency has implemented the practice of loving kindness meditation and self-confidence in an effort to increase student learning concentration. The problem in this study based on preliminary observations shows that not a few students of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung still show symptoms of lack of concentration and lack of confidence in learning. Data collection was carried out on the population that had been established by the researcher with questionnaires. The collected data is tested for validity and reliability, which is analyzed using inferential statistical methods. The results of the analysis are presented in the form of tables, frequency distribution tables, and graphs. Next, discussion and interpretation are carried out. Finally, conclusions are made based on the data collected as a short answer to each problem formulation that has been proposed. The results showed that the regression of loving-kindness meditation (X1) had an effect of 0.751 or 75.1%, the regression of the Self-Confidence variable (X2) of -0.216, this showed that the level of self-confidence carried out on students of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung North Lombok Regency was very low but very significant. Simultaneously Loving Kindness Meditation, Self-Confidence has a positive and significant effect on Learning Outcomes at SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung North Lombok Regency. Based on the results of the coefficient of determination test, an Adjusted R Square value of 0.183 was obtained. These results showed that only 18.3% of the variables of loving-kindness meditation (X 1), self-confidence (X2) were able to explain the variable of learning outcomes (Y) in students of SMK Negeri1 Tanjung North Lombok Regency while the remaining 81.7% were the influence of other independent variables that were not explained. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the loving kindnes meditation and self-confidence of students shows a significant influence on the learning outcomes of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung students. The suggestion put forward is that loving kindness meditation and self-confidence need to be further improved by students, so that its application does not only stop at school, but can be continued at home, and other researchers are advised to conduct more in-depth similar research on loving kindness meditation and students’ self confidence

Abstract

This study seeks to quantify the impact of implementing Buddhist Pañcasīla and Pañcadhamma on the development of Buddhist character in eighth-grade students at Maitreyawira Junior High School in Batam. A quantitative approach was employed, using a survey method with a causality model. The subject group for this study consisted of 300 students in class VIII at Maitreyawira Junior High School in Batam. The sample of this research is all Buddhist students of class VIII which amounted to 177 students. The sampling technique was carried out using sampling with simple random sampling. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. Assumption test uses normality, linearity, heteroscedasticity, and multicollinearity tests.The data analysis reveals a significant influence between the variables of Buddhist pañcasīla and Pañcadhamma implementation on the formation of Buddhist character. Thus, it is evident that the implementation of Buddhist pañcasīla and Pañcadhamma have significant effects on the formation of Buddhist character. The regression coefficient of the Buddhist pañcasīla variable (X1) is 2.5% or 0.025, whereas the Pañcadhamma variable (X2) shows a regression of 0.006 or 6%. Based on the coefficient of determination test, the Adjusted R square value is 0.008%. This indicates that only 8% of Buddhist Pañcasīla (X1) and Pañcadhamma (X2) variables can account for the variation in the variable of Buddhist character formation (Y) in Batam's Maitreyawira Junior High School students. The remaining 92% is attributed to the regression test.The study concludes that Buddhist principles such as Pañcasīla (X1) and Pañcadhamma (X2), along with the development of Buddhist character, significantly impact the formation of Buddhist character within Maitreyawira Junior High School students in Batam. The recommendation is for students to further develop the application of Buddhist Pañcasīla (X1) and Pañcadhamma (X2) beyond school and into their homes. It is also suggested that other researchers conduct more in-depth studies on these subjects
