Abstract

Education is the most important aspect of life, every Indonesian has an entitlement to it and should always pursue more education. In this research, the researcher designed an interactive media application to help with intellectual disabilities in English learning process. The media application was focused on listening skills namely the C0-KIDS application. The ADDIE model, which comprised five steps (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation), was adapted for use in this study using the Research and Development (R&D) technique. Students with intellectual disabilities from SMPLB Tunas Harapana I Tembelang participated in this study. The researcher obtained the research's outcome from those procedures. 1) The material validation score was 92 (also in the Very Good Category), and the media validation result was 93 (also in the Very Good Category). Based on the findings, the researcher draws the conclusion that students with intellectual impairments should utilize the C0-KIDS program to learn English, particularly in the area of listening skills.

Abstract

The acquisition of mathematical knowledge in Public Primary School 2 Sumber Mukti encountered several obstacles, namely the lack of student motivation in the following lessons. The lack of enthusiasm and apathy shown by students during the learning process had a negative impact on their academic achievement. To overcome this problem, a direct learning strategy was used by utilizing concrete visual media. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and describe learning activities related to the concept of addition and subtraction. This study is a classroom action research (CAR) conducted in class II of Public Primary School 2 Sumber Mukti, with 9 students. The research methodology was carried out in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collected on student learning outcomes through written evaluations were then examined qualitatively in a descriptive manner, emphasizing the extent of student achievement. The study showed that the use of concrete visual media improved student learning outcomes. In Cycle I, out of 9 students, 4 students achieved learning completion, while 5 students did not, so the percentage of completion was 40%, which was still below the minimum threshold for classical completion. In Cycle II, the number of students who completed the program increased to 7 students, while 2 students still had not completed it, so the completion percentage was 70%, thus meeting the minimum threshold for classical completion.

Abstract

English has become an essential language for communication in today’s era, including for English extracurricular students at Al-Ikhlas Islamic Boarding School Tambakberas Jombang. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of using Duolingo as one of AI chat bot technology to improve students’ speaking skill, and to explore how the implementation of Duolingo in the Islamic boarding school environment which has a limited access using electronics tool. This study used a quantitative method with quasi-experimental design, specifically non-equivalent control group design, and the data was collected from 32 female students who were devided into 2 classes (experimental class and control class), each class contain 16 female students. The results showed that students in the experimental class experienced a significant improvement in their speaking skill test than the control class. The implementation of AI chatbot (Duolingo) at the Islamic Boarding School was limited to using only two laptops due to strict electronic usage policies. Nevertheless, this study highlights the importance of integrating technology into language learning activities, emphasizing that AI-based platforms like AI chatbot (Duolingo) can enhance students’ speaking skill even within environments with restricted digital access.
