Abstract

The Quality of Sleep in Brain Tumors Patients. Sleep quality is often compromised in patients with brain tumors. The underlying factors contributing to sleep quality disturbances in this patient population are multifaceted, and investigating these factors remains scarce. Sixty-eight patients with brain tumors, aged ≥ 18 years, were selected consecutively, and data was recorded in the form of sociodemographic characteristics (gender and age), clinical characteristics (clinical manifestations, tumor type, location, comorbid diseases) and therapy characteristics (management and types of drugs). Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. Data were analyzed bivariate with chi-square and multivariate with logistic regression. Around 45.6% experienced poor sleep quality. Age, gender, systemic malignancies, pain, type of primary brain tumor, tumor location, operation, radiotherapy, and steroid have a significant relationship with sleep quality in patients with brain tumors (p-value <0.05). Multivariate analysis shows that age is the factor that most strongly influences the sleep quality of patients with brain tumors. Age, gender, systemic malignancies, pain, type of primary brain tumor, tumor location, operative treatment, radiotherapy, and steroids influence the quality of sleep in patients with brain tumors, but age has the most decisive influence.

Abstract

Background: Sleep disorders are one of the symptoms frequently reported in post-COVID-19 patients. This study aims to identify factors that play a role in sleep disorders in post-COVID-19 patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, Indonesia. Methods: This research was conducted in an analytical observational manner with a cross-sectional design. Data was collected from 100 post-COVID-19 patients treated at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using the logistic regression test. Results: Factors that play a role in sleep disorders in post-COVID-19 patients are depressive symptoms (OR=2.5; 95%CI: 1.3-4.8); Anxiety symptoms (OR=3.1; 95%CI: 1.6-5.9); Stress level (OR=2.2; 95%CI: 1.1-4.3); Sleep quality before COVID-19 (OR=2.0; 95%CI: 1.0-3.9). Conclusion: Symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and sleep quality before COVID-19 are factors that play a role in sleep disorders in post-COVID-19 patients.

Abstract

The national education goal in Indonesia is to create a society that is religious, moral, knowledgeable, and skilled. Moreover, the system aims to produce individuals who are physically and spiritually healthy, possess strong character, and carry a sense of responsibility. To realize these aspirations, curriculum development plays a central role in shaping the direction and quality of education. One of the inseparable aspects of advancing the national education system is policy-making related to curriculum design and implementation. As a critical component of education, the curriculum holds a strategic position and significantly influences the overall quality of learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the impact of curriculum development on the quality of education in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach, the research is based on a literature review involving academic publications, government documents, and relevant policy reports. The findings suggest that curriculum changes can have both positive and negative effects on education quality, depending on how well the curriculum aligns with the needs of learners, educators, and national goals. Positive impacts include the enhancement of learning competencies, adaptability to global challenges, and the promotion of holistic student development. On the other hand, challenges arise when curriculum reforms are implemented hastily or without adequate support for teachers and institutions. Therefore, curriculum development must be based on comprehensive planning and supported by effective policy implementation to improve the quality of education sustainably.
