Abstract

Food in general is perishable foods, because the water content contained in it as the main factor causing food damage itself. The need for food packaging that is safe or edible, and does not pollute the environment is the reason in the application of edible antimicrobial film is expected to improve the food safety of mackerel meatballs during storage. This research includes pure research (Experiments) in the Laboratory. The population in this study is fish meatballs made / produced. This study used a complete randomized design factorial. The first factor is the length of storage (0, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, and 72 hours) while the second factor is the type of packaging (edible film and polyethylene plastic). The treatment in this study is the result of a combination between the first and second factors. The results showed that the use of packaging type and storage length (edible film and plastic polyethylene) had a real effect on the degree of acidity and binding power of water, but had no effect on overall acceptance. Packaging edible antimicrobial film is a packaging that can inhibit the decay process, especially in fish meatballs mackerel up to 72 hours of storage at room temperature.

Abstract

Analysis of Translation Techniques in the journal abstract of IJAI 6(1) Abstract: Translation plays an important role in communication. Translation is a series of analytical actions on the source text (TSU) to be translated into equivalent target text (TSA) so as to produce a good translation and can be understood by the reader. Translation does not just change the word, but also transfers the cultural correspondence to the culture of the TSu language and its recipient as best as possible. One of the texts that always uses the translation process is an abstract. Abstract aims to provide an overview of the contents of a scientific paper. This scientific work is a case study of translating article abstracts published in the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence (IJAI) in Issue 6 (1) in 2019. The purpose of this research is to describe the translation process carried out on the source text (TSu) into the target text (TSa) to produce an equivalent translation and also the methods or techniques that appear in the translation of the source text (TSu) into the target text (TSa). From the research conducted, it can be concluded that in the translation process carried out on the source text (TSu) into the target text (TSa) must consider the factors contained in the text in order to get a translation result that is equivalent and can be well understood by readers. The main factor that is very supportive is that the translator must know the terms in TSu and understand the use of these terms so that the translator can easily translate the TSu script into TSa. In addition, the translation techniques that are widely used in the two texts are transposition techniques, techniques for borrowing words both pure and with changes as well as adaptation and calque techniques. Keywords: Abstract, Couplet, Journal, Translation Technique, TSu ≈ TSa.

Abstract

Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a prevalent entrapment neuropathy. While nerve conduction studies (NCS) remain the gold standard for diagnosis, ultrasound (USG) offers a non-invasive alternative. This study aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of USG and NCS in CTS at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang, Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on patients presenting with CTS symptoms. Demographic and clinical data were collected. NCS and USG assessments were performed, blinded to each other's results. USG measurements included the cross-sectional area at the carpal tunnel inlet (CSAc), proximal to the carpal tunnel (CSAp), and the difference between them (∆CSA). Diagnostic accuracy was calculated, and agreement was assessed using Cohen's kappa. Results: A total of 86 wrists from 49 patients were included. The mean age was 52 ± 11 years, with a female predominance (86%). The majority had mild CTS based on NCS (55.8%). USG measurements showed mean CSAc of 13.1 ± 3.5 mm², CSAp of 10.6 ± 3.0 mm², and ∆CSA of 2.5 ± 0.9 mm². ∆CSA had the highest sensitivity (92.2%), specificity (88.9%), and accuracy (91.9%), with substantial agreement with NCS (Kappa = 0.65). Conclusion: USG, particularly using ∆CSA, demonstrates high diagnostic accuracy in CTS, comparable to NCS. It can serve as a valuable tool, especially in settings with limited NCS availability.

Abstract

The formation of public policy is a fundamental aspect of modern government. In this context, the universal values of Islamic political ethics have a significant influence. Islamic political ethics rooted in the Qur'an and Hadith offer moral guidelines and principles that can be adopted in the public decision-making process. This research aims to explore how these values can influence public policy in different countries, especially the Muslim majority. This research uses a literature method with an Islamic law approach. The research will begin by conducting a comprehensive literature review of primary and secondary sources, including Islamic classics, scientific journals, books on Islamic political ethics, as well as public policy articles and reports. The results of the study show that universal values such as justice ('adl), benefit (maslahah), accountability (amanah), wisdom (hikmah), and public participation (shura) have significant relevance in the context of public policy formation. These values can help create policies that are more just, inclusive, and oriented towards community welfare. However, the application of these values is inseparable from various challenges, such as pluralistic contexts, diverse interpretations, and incompatibility with contemporary conditions

Abstract

One of the problems experienced by adolescents is excessive smoking behavior, which can trigger negative physical and psychological impacts. Smoking intention is one of the antecedents of smoking behavior. Social factors (e.g., parental monitoring and peer pressure) and broader environmental factors (e.g., media exposure) can predict adolescent smoking intention. The objective of this study is to determine the predictors that contribute significantly between parental monitoring, peer pressure, and media exposure to smoking intentions in adolescents. This study involved 161 teenage boys and girls in Banda Aceh. The results of multiple regression analysis indicate that significant predictors of smoking intention are peer pressure and parental control which is a subdimension of parental monitoring. The implication of this study is the importance of having a positive peer environment and parental monitoring as protective factors from the risk of adolescent smoking behavior.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are uncommon malignancies originating in the mediastinum, characterized by considerable histopathological diversity and variable clinical trajectories. Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1), an immune checkpoint protein, is implicated in mechanisms of tumor immune evasion. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between PD-L1 immunoexpression and distinct histopathological types, as well as the Masaoka-Koga stage, in TETs. Methods: This cross-sectional investigation analyzed 29 archival cases of TETs diagnosed between January 2019 and December 2024 at the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory of Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital Padang. Samples were procured via consecutive sampling from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tumor tissues. Histopathological classification was reassessed according to the WHO 2021 criteria. PD-L1 expression was evaluated immunohistochemically and quantified using the Tumor Proportion Score (TPS). Masaoka-Koga staging was determined from clinical records. Statistical analysis of correlations was performed using the Chi-square test. Results: PD-L1 immunoexpression was detected in the preponderance of cases. Low positive PD-L1 expression (TPS 1-49%) was observed in 82.8% of TETs, while high positive expression (TPS ≥50%) was noted in 10.3%. Thymic carcinoma constituted the most prevalent histopathological category (51.7%), and the majority of patients (91.7%) presented at an advanced Masaoka-Koga stage. Statistical analysis did not demonstrate a significant correlation between PD-L1 expression levels and histopathological type (p=0.195). Furthermore, no significant association was identified between PD-L1 expression and Masaoka-Koga stage (p=0.800). Conclusion: This study indicated that while PD-L1 is frequently expressed in TETs within this cohort, its expression level did not exhibit a significant correlation with specific histopathological subtypes or the Masaoka-Koga clinical stage. Further investigations incorporating larger sample sizes are warranted to delineate the precise role of PD-L1 within the complex biological spectrum of thymic neoplasms.
