Abstract

The issue discussed in this service is to promote community service in literacy learning for children in the community in Kalangsurya village, Karawang district, West Java, Indonesia. The focus in this service is literacy in the form of tutoring for children in the Kalangsurya village environment, Karawang. The limitations discussed in this community service are the literacy of children in the village of Kalangsurya, Karawang in learning. The approach in this service is implementive and 'problem solving'. The purpose of this Community Service activity is to increase children's ability to learn so that children can be assisted and at the same time experience an increase in understanding the content of learning that they are not yet capable of. The benefit of this service is to help children learn subjects that children do in understanding subjects that children have not been able to solve in working on issues or subject topics that children have not been able to solve when studying. The result of this service is that the children are very enthusiastic and experience an increase in learning. The conclusions in this service show that this service with tutoring is very helpful for children in understanding the content of lessons in the village of Kalangsurya, Karawang.

Abstract

A community service project aims to improve the English skills of Karang Taruna members in Mekar Buana, Tegal Waru, and Karawang as part of this community service project. A skill improvement program focuses on improving the ability to speak English with a strong emphasis on the concept of direction in the context of spoken English. The training is based on discussion and practice in which the methods used are discussion and practice. So that in the end, this service can be seen as having a goal, that is, when the skills of cadet reef members, which tend to be dominated by these young people, can be enhanced with time, they can become a liaison between Mekarbuana villagers and foreign tourists who come to the village in the future.

Abstract

This service is an initiative taken by the volunteers to educate the community, particularly the youth of Karang Taruna in the village of Mekar Buana in Karawang. The objective is to create awareness among the youth of Karang Taruna about religious diversity. The lectures and interviews are the primary methods of implementation. The activity was conducted successfully, and the results and discussions showed that the youth of the organization now have a better understanding of religious moderation. In conclusion, this service has helped to enlighten the youth about religious life, particularly the importance of religious moderation.

Abstract

This investigation examines the implementation of linguistic politeness in English as Foreign Language (EFL) instruction in Karawang, with particular emphasis on faculty-student interactions. Utilizing an ethnographic qualitative methodology, the research encompasses one faculty member and thirty-five, first-semester students. Data acquisition was conducted through non-participant classroom observations and semi-structured in-depth interviews. The findings demonstrate that the faculty member systematically implemented politeness strategies through indirect communication and face-threatening acts management. The incorporation of Sundanese cultural values in instruction was manifested in the utilization of address systems and modifications in communication approaches. The implementation of politeness significantly contributed to the enhancement of students' communicative competence and the establishment of a conducive learning environment. This research underscores the significance of integrating linguistic politeness and indigenous cultural values in EFL instruction to facilitate pedagogical effectiveness.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the different forms of translanguaging utilized in general English classes at a university in Karawang, while also exploring the students' attitudes toward the use of translanguaging in the English language classroom. The primary research objective is centered on the types of translanguaging employed in the general English classes at a university. Furthermore, the study aims to ascertain the students' perceptions concerning the application of translanguaging in their general English language learning. This research employs a descriptive qualitative analysis as its methodological approach. The results revealed that a teacher used code-switching to assist students in understanding complex English language concepts. Additionally, the teacher frequently applied translation patterns in general English classes. As for students' perspectives, the findings suggest that the use of translanguaging can enhance their comprehension of the English language when presented by their teacher. Ultimately, this research argues that the implementation of translanguaging strategies by educators is particularly advantageous in augmenting students' comprehension of English language skills within the classroom setting.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to gain insight into the challenges or barriers that a management student encounters when delivering English for Business Management subject matter. The study employed qualitative method. it is reasonable to explicate that the challenge is related to vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, and grammatically correct sentence formation. Nevertheless, his presentation's difficulty is a lack of confidence, as well as missing key critical aspects, such as allowing the audience to ask questions at the end. The use of ordinary English language is deemed more useful than the use of English in business management. This is related to the practice of listening, discovering, learning, and applying it in everyday academic life
