Abstract

Socialization activities have been carried out regarding the application of iron sand nanomagnetic fertilizer (Fe3O4) on corn plants to the villagers of Pulau Semambu Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. This community service activity is part of the integration of the research results that have been carried out. From the results of the study, it was found that at the same growing age, corn added with nano-magnetic iron sand, both simaxx + nanomagnetic iron sand and silica + nanomagnetic iron sand, had a faster growth of about 100 cm compared to corn that was only given simaxx fertilizer. which is about 45-50 cm. Research results and observational data were then collected and analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of using Fe3O4 nanomagnetic fertilizer on corn plants. Apart from being disseminated to corn farmers, research results are also used as teaching material to be conveyed to students in material physics courses. Integrating research results with community service activities and material physics lectures has increased the practical use of research results and provided wider benefits for society and students.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the learning process while using video conferences and to find out the impact of using video conferences in online learning. This research involved the 7th-semester students of the English Department of the University of PGRI Semarang. The method used is qualitative descriptive by providing an open questionnaire and in-depth interviews to collect the data. The results of this study indicated that according to the students, the use of video conferences is very helpful for teaching and learning activities in online learning, and it is also more practical and safer to be used for learners during the pandemic. Then, the impact of using video conferences from the students’ perception can be identified from the positive and negative impacts. The positive impacts of using video conferences can be seen from point of view of time effectiveness, student communication, students’ participation during the teaching and learning activity, and student achievement. Meanwhile, the negative impacts of using video conferences can be seen in the lack of understanding of the materials and the high cost for students’ needs.

Abstract

Career maturity is the level an individual has when mastering career development tasks, both knowledge components and attitudes that are appropriate to the stage of career development. This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The subjects in this research were 84 entrepreneurs (en-treupreneurs) in Gumukmas District, Jember Regency who were members of the Gumukmas Young Entrepreneurs (PMG) organization using random sampling. Measurement of career maturity uses an adaptation of the Career Maturity Inventory with 21 items. The overall research results show that the career maturity of entrepreneurs (entreupreneurs) is in the high category at 74%, where entrepreneurs (entreupreneurs) tend to have high career maturity so that young entrepreneurs are ready to face career development tasks such as choosing and making career decisions.

Abstract

Career anxiety is a feeling felt by individuals regarding worry, confusion, and doubt regarding the right career continuation for themselves. Career anxiety reflects a situation where individuals experience difficulty in making decisions regarding career choices, due to the complexity of factors that influence each other in the decision-making process. This research aims to differentiate the level of career anxiety between undergraduate students and vocational students. The type of research used is non-experimental quantitative research with comparative methods. The population in this study was 63,219 undergraduate and vocational students from 4 state and private universities in Jember with a sample of 397 students. The sampling technique uses quota sampling. The scale used is the Career Anxiety Scale (CAS) consisting of 12 items adapted from Thai, et al (2014). The results of this study show that there is a difference in the level of career anxiety between undergraduate and vocational students with a tailed sig.2 value of 0.000 <0.05 where vocational students have a higher level of career anxiety than undergraduate students.

Abstract

Lecturers in facing new challenges in carrying out the tridharma of higher education continue to increase along with developments over time. So, lecturers' readiness to change needs to be considered. The changes currently experienced by lecturers are in reporting lecturer workload (BKD) using SISTER and changes in the management of functional positions. This research aims to determine the picture of lecturers' readiness for change (readiness for change) within the Muhammadiyah University of Jember environment. The subjects in this research involved lecturers at Muhammadiyah University of Jember who had a minimum functional position of expert assistant (AA). The sampling technique used in this research uses probability sampling using stratified random sampling. Sample calculations in this study used the Slovin formula and there were 150 samples in this study. Data analysis in this study used simple linear regression. The results of this research show that lecturers' readiness for change is high on average (around 50.55% of the total sample) which indicates that lecturers are ready to face changes that occur in lecturer workload reporting (BKD) using SISTER and changes in position management functional.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the Reading Eggs application on developing reading skills among young ESL (English as a Second Language) learners, focusing on age and gender differences within the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) framework. A quantitative pre-test/post-test design was employed to assess changes in reading skills following a two-week intervention using Reading Eggs. The participants included 28 primary school students grouped by age and gender to explore demographic effects. A two-way ANOVA was conducted to evaluate the influence of age, gender, and their interaction on reading skills. While the results showed no statistically significant effects, a large effect size for age suggests a potential influence constrained by the limited sample size. Gender and the interaction of age and gender demonstrated negligible effects. Data analysis included two-way ANOVA, hierarchical regression, and Structural Equation Modeling to uncover nuanced relationships between age, gender, and program effectiveness. The findings revealed no statistically significant effects, although a large effect size for age suggests a potential impact limited by the small sample size. Gender and the interaction of age and gender demonstrated negligible effects.
