Abstract

The primary polluter of the environment is liquid waste. Silica is one substance that can be utilized to minimize water pollution. Silica can be produced from agricultural biomass waste, such as rice husk ash. This study investigated the preparation of rice husk ash and the optimal synthesis method for producing bio-silica. A literature review of studies on rice husk ash, heavy metals, and adsorbents was conducted. The findings indicated that boiling rice husk at 800°C and washing with HCl produced high-purity silica. XRD (X-ray diffraction), FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared) spectrophotometers, and ED-XRF (Energy Dispersive X-ray fluorescence) were employed to characterize the rice husk ash. The precipitation, sol-gel, acidification, and hydrothermal methods were compared for bio-silica synthesis. The synthesized bio-silica can be used as a heavy metal absorbent for various metal ions, including Pb2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Cu2+, As3+, As5+, and Cd2+.

Abstract

Abstract— This research aims to determine the corrosion rate of different types of nails by immersing them in water of the same quality. The method used is weight loss method. Each nail was immersed in water for 1–7 days and then weighed every day. The highest corrosion rate was obtained for steel nails with an average corrosion rate of 0.09 mmpy and the lowest corrosion rate was obtained for wall nails with an average corrosion rate of 0.02 mmpy. The largest difference in nail weight after soaking was for the umbrella nail at 0.48 grams, while the smallest difference in nail weight was for the wall nail at 0.11 grams.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan permasalahan kurangnya asupan gizi pada anak dan balita dalam jangka waktu yang cukup lama, sehingga menimbulkan perkembangan dan pertumbuhan anak menjadi terganggu. Posyandu Melati merupakan salah satu organisasi swadaya yang memiliki peran penting dalam membantu mengontrol pertumbuhan anak setiap bulannya. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Posyandu Melati ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada kader dan ibu-ibu tentang stunting dan bahayanya bagi pertumbuhan anak dan balita. Selain itu diberikan juga pelatihan pembuatan bubuk tinggi protein dari ikan seluang. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan yaitu melalui sosialisasi dan penyuluhan tentang stunting dan bahayanya kepada seluruh peserta kegiatan, serta pelatihan pembuatan bubuk tinggi protein untuk mencegah stunting. Berdasarkan hasil survey, lebih dari 50% peserta menyatakan setuju terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan tentang stunting setelah pelaksanaan kegiatan. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini, diharapkan kepada kader dan ibu-ibu untuk terus memantau dan memonitoring pertumbuhan anaknya.

Abstract

The synthesis of functional and complex organic compounds is majorly performed by the Claisen rearrangement method. Claisen rearrangement is one of [3,3] sigmatropic rearrangements, a complex method in the synthesis of organic compounds, where it is mostly used to construct stereoselective compounds. It can be combined with other synthesis methods to synthesize organic compounds giving satisfactory results based on the method used, temperature, time, and yield produced. This review aimed to summarize several recent advances in synthesizing organic compounds through Claisen rearrangement reactions. An understanding of the mechanism and applications of this reaction might improve the ability to synthesize innovative and useful organic compounds in various fields of life sciences.

Abstract

Senyawa kompleks merupakan senyawa yang terbentuk karena adanya ikatan antara ion logam sebagai atom pusat dan ligan organik sebagai atom donor PEB. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa topik penelitian dibidang senyawa kompleks logam Zn(II) dengan menggunakan metode literature review. Sintesis senyawa kompleks menggunakan logam Zn(II) dengan berbagai ligan-ligan organik seperti katekin, 8-Hidroksikuinolin, Schiff base, BNBP, dan EDTA akan menghasilkan warna yang unik. Kristal yang terbentuk dengan ligan 8-Hidroksikuinolin akan menghasilkan endapan berwarna kuning terang, ligan Schiff base menghasilkan kristal yang berwarna cokelat, ligan BNBP diperoleh padatan berwarna kuning kehijauan, dan ligan EDTA menghasilkan kristal berwarna putih keruh. Karakterisasi terbentuknya senyawa kompleks dapat dibuktikan melalui pergeseran serapan gugus fungsional dalam spektrum FTIR yang menandakan adanya ikatan antara ion logam Zn(II) dengan ligan.
