Abstract

This research aims to obtain information regarding participants' responses regarding the materials presented in Introduction to Academic Culture and Student Affairs (PBAK) activities. The subjects of this study were PBAK students batch 2018 and 2019, totaling 6198 students. Extracting data using questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of PBAK batch 2018 and 2019 can be accepted by students which the materials mostly in positive responses, (1) correlate with the adjustment attitude of PBAK participant 98,37 % positive responses on history, vision and mission of UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, (2) there is 94, 56 % positive responses regarding the Islamic and national insight material, ( 3) participants also responded 97.33% positively to study success and organizations in Higher Education material, (4) social environmental responsibility is 96,86 % in positive response, (5) there are 96.57% students gave positive responses regarding the material on critical analysis of the implementation of the student government concept, (6) the total number of applicants expressed positive responses cosmopolitan millennials with morals and social care and transformation and agent of win manifesto towards civilized people were more about that 97.53% , (7) the material of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills material, it is known that 96.86% of gave positive responses to this material, (8) the scientific writing material was 96,01% in positive response and (9) For 96,61 % positive response given to students ethics material. The psychological impact felt by participants is the emergence of feelings of joy or happiness, usefulness, and motivation from participating in PBAK activities.

Abstract

Introducing accurate discourses and understanding the discourses that students encounter in their daily lives is crucial for enhancing the teaching of spoken English language. To enhance students' linguistic proficiency, the method of teaching speaking through discourse involves immersing them in authentic dialogues and diverse communication scenarios. This is a descriptive qualitative research, employing a case study approach. The participants of the research are the teachers and students of the State Islamic University of Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda and the State Islamic University of Antasari Banjarmasin. To collect data for the study, the researcher used a variety of research instruments, such as interviews, field notes, and questionnaires. This study's data analysis method adheres to the principles of qualitative research. The interactive model was used for the data analysis, which included stages for data collecting, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Research findings indicate that students have a preference for teachers who not only teach English language curriculum but also demonstrate how to achieve a successful future. For English teachers, it is important to teach students not only English-speaking materials but also proper behaviour and politeness. In terms of English language proficiency, students highlight that speaking is the primary skill in acquiring English since it demonstrates their mastery of the language.

Abstract

Technology has entered the educational sphere, particularly in the learning of foreign languages. The usage of artificial intelligence helps students' learning. Artificial intelligence, particularly in the writing process, can bring convenience by swiftly supplying references, paraphrasing sentences, and now checking sentence structure, which will undoubtedly improve students' writing abilities. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. This strategy seeks to provide a comprehensive and detailed description of numerous events. This study employs purposive sampling to collect data. Participants in this study are English Language Study Program students in the academic year 2023/2024 who apply artificial intelligence in their writing. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis revealed that the most popular artificial intelligence tools among students are Quill Bot, Grammarly, Chat GPT, Deep L, Perplexity AI, and Essay Writer. Most students employ artificial intelligence during the writing process, particularly when brainstorming and drafting. Because they believe there is an urgent need for artificial intelligence in the process of finding references and composing a sentence into a paragraph, a student requires it. However, according to study, they continue to employ artificial intelligence in its natural stages, with pupils using it based on their needs and talents.

Abstract

The integration of multicultural education in the teaching and learning process is essential for promoting equity, fostering intercultural understanding, and preparing students to navigate the complexities of our diverse and interconnected world. This is a comparative study in the context of Indonesia and Malaysia. The participant selection of this study used purposive sampling to select participants who have experienced the phenomenon of multicultural teaching. There are 10 participants from Indonesian public university and Malaysia public university involved in this study. To collect the data, the researchers conducted semi-structured interviews, observation, and documents. The researchers analyzed the data using the interactive model by Miles et al. that involves several interconnected steps, i.e., data condensation, data display, and data conclusion drawing/verification. The research found that the discourse of multicultural education in the teaching and learning process is very urgent for provoking equity, diversity, and social justice, as well as enhancing students' academic achievement. In the teaching and learning process of the Indonesian public university and Malaysia public university, multicultural education was implemented by incorporating culturally relevant content, implementing inclusive pedagogical practices, and fostering collaboration with communities. By embracing cultural diversity and promoting inclusive teaching practices, teachers can create transformative learning experiences that empower students to become informed, empathetic, and socially responsible global citizens.

Abstract

Preserving culture plays a role in preserving environmental sustainability and social ecosystems. Cultural traditions embody the values of sustainability, both in human relations and in human interaction with the environment. The younger generation, students and students, who are actively engaged in the preservation of culture will also be more likely to be responsible agents of change because they will understand the importance of preserving cultural heritage for the survival of mankind and the planet. This article outlines the role of young people at SMK Teuku Umar Semarang in preserving the values of tradition and cultural conservation. This article is based on the writer's experience during training and community engagement of cultural conservation at SMK Teukur Umar Semarang. This writing has become important because it is essentially about preserving a culture that is not only about the traditions of the past but also about building a sustainable and harmonious future for all living beings on this earth.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan sebagai pemahaman bagi mahasiswa dalam memaknai penyakit flu dan meresponnya melalui tiga simbol utama: masker, obat, dan istirahat. Flu sebagai penyakit ringan kerap dianggap remeh oleh mahasiswa, meskipun memiliki potensi penularan yang tinggi di lingkungan kampus. Pendekatan fenomenologis digunakan untuk menggali makna simbolik dari ketiga elemen tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simbol-simbol tersebut tidak hanya merepresentasikan kesehatan secara medis, namun juga memiliki dimensi sosial dan budaya dalam menentukan perilaku kesehatan. Masker menjadi simbol kesadaran sosial, obat mencerminkan kemandirian dalam pengobatan, dan istirahat menjadi bentuk perlindungan diri yang sering kali diabaikan akibat tekanan akademik. Kesimpulan dari studi ini menegaskan diperlukan pendekatan kesehatan secara kontekstual dan sosial pada mahasiswa, agar dapat meningkatkan kesadaran preventif dan perubahan perilaku yang lebih efektif dalam menangani penyakit seperti flu.
