Abstract

Abstract

The phenomenon of test drives before marriage, which involves sexual intercourse or cohabitation before legal marriage, is increasingly common in modern society. This article explores the phenomenon from an Islamic perspective and analyzes its social, psychological and spiritual impacts. The research used a descriptive approach with qualitative methods to explore Islamic views on test drive relationships before marriage and their impact on individuals and society. Data was obtained from journals, books, and websites as sources. In Islam, sexual intercourse before marriage is considered zina, which contradicts religious teachings that emphasize chastity and honor. The impacts include moral decline, divorce and emotional instability. This research highlights the importance of maintaining religious and moral values in the face of this phenomenon as well as the need for collective efforts from various parties to overcome its negative impacts. Thus, this article proposes solutions through proper religious understanding, social media monitoring by parents, quality sexual education in schools, and government regulation of unsavory content on casual sex.

Abstract

Profitability is one of the factors influencing a company's value, and higher profitability accelerates the growth rate of assets in Sharia Commercial Banks in Indonesia. The objective of this study is to estimate the mediating effect through the Capital Adequacy Ratio variable, which represents the interaction pattern in explaining how Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) affect Price Book Value (PBV). This research utilizes Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis using WarpPLS 8.0. The study involved 12 respondents from Sharia Commercial Banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, selected through purposive sampling. The findings indicate a partial mediating effect of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) in the relationship between ROA, ROE, and PBV. Based on the testing and discussion of the findings regarding the mediating effect of CAR in the relationship between ROA, ROE, and PBV in Sharia Commercial Banks in Indonesia, CAR partially mediates the relationship between ROA, ROE, and PBV as indicated by the Variance Accounted For (VAF). This relationship enriches the understanding that the positive effect of profitability on company value is mediated by the CAR process. The company's value is viewed through its ability to maintain CAR. Scientifically, this research contributes to the understanding of capital structure in business or banking, serving as a reference for companies and banks to enhance corporate value and profitability year after year by maintaining an optimal capital structure that avoids bankruptcy and strengthens capitalization.

Abstract

DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 108 of 2016 provides the legal framework for sharia tourism management in Indonesia, enabling tourism managers to enhance services and standards in managing tourist attractions and halal destinations. Tourism management falls under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, ensuring tourism aligns with sharia standards. However, challenges remain in implementing the fatwa as a reference for managing tourist attractions, with some elements applied before its issuance and others yet to be realized. This study examines the alignment between DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 108 of 2016 on sharia tourism and the 2019–2024 strategic plan for halal tourism development by the ministry. Using a qualitative descriptive method, it analyzes the alignment of the fatwa’s provisions with its implementation. The findings reveal that the 2019–2024 strategic plan includes developing halal tourism destinations by providing amenities and services that meet the needs of Muslim tourists, such as water for purification, halal food, prayer facilities, tour packages, and visitor guides. The plan also emphasizes broader halal tourism development and branding destinations as halal hubs. These principles align with the DSN-MUI fatwa’s guidelines for sharia-based tourism management, particularly regarding tourist destinations. Moreover, the vision, mission, and strategies in the strategic plan demonstrate synergy and editorial consistency with the fatwa’s provisions.

Abstract

The company's financial performance reflects its work plan achievements and can indicate its overall health.  This study estimates operating costs, operating income, and profitability with the FDR financing to deposit ratio as a mediating variable that indirectly or directly affects profitability proxied by return on assets ROA in BPRS for the 2015-2023 period.  This research is a confirmatory study with a quantitative approach. The data in this study are secondary data obtained from BPRS in the form of annual reports, which are taken quarterly and collected through the official website. Based on the study's results, the path coefficient is partially positive, with a value of 0.72 and a p-value of 0.01 > 0.05. BOPO has a positive and significant effect on ROA, with an influence of 67%. BOPO has a positive and considerable influence on FDR, with an impact of 89%. FDR has a positive and significant effect on Return on Assets ROA with an impact of 35%. Simultaneously, BOPO and FDR affect ROA with an R-squared of 0.669, indicating that the contribution of the influence of BOPO (X) variables and FDR Financing to Deposit Ratio (Z) on Profitability (Return on Assets) is 66.9% and other variables outside the research model and errors influence the remaining 33.1%. The Financing to Deposit Ratio of 0.117 with a P-value of 0.232 greater than 0.05 shows that the Financing to Deposit Ratio cannot mediate the relationship between BOPO and Return on Asset ROA. Implications for Future Research. This study highlights the mediating role of the Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) in linking financial performance with BPR profitability. Future research could extend this framework by incorporating additional mediating or moderating variables, such as credit risk, liquidity risk, or governance practices, to capture a more holistic view of profitability drivers. For practitioners, the findings underscore that profitability in BPR is not solely determined by financial performance indicators such as ROA or BOPO, but is also significantly influenced by the efficiency of channeling deposits into financing activities, as captured by FDR.
