Abstract

Abstract

PMG, Ltd is a company that manufactures and subcontracts for car lighting companies. The problem on the automobile lamp factory floor is that workers do repetitive operations and lifting loads manually without using tools. The goal of this research is to determine the risk level of work posture and provide recommendations for improvements to four-wheeled vehicle lighting component companies. The methods used to assess operator working posture are the Nordic Body Map (NBM), Quick Exposure Check (QEC) and Ovako Working Posture Analysis System (OWAS) questionnaires. Based on the results of the NBM questionnaire, Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) symptoms were found on the neck, back, hands and feet. The score for the QEC method is 65.43%, which means further research and changes are needed, and the OWAS method is in category 2, which means that corrective action is needed in the near future. Improvements in working posture were carried out by redesigning the work table according to anthropometric ergonomics principles and reducing the flow of stages in the lamp production process from 11 steps to 8 work steps.

Abstract

The visual quality of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)-based products is significantly influenced by the dispersion of pigments and the moisture content in the material, particularly during the injection process. This study aims to evaluate the effect of ultramarine and fluorescent pigment concentrations on the visual quality and performance of TPU products, as well as to analyze the water content derived from raw materials, such as calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), in the masterbatch formulation. The methods employed include measuring water content using the HydroTracer FLV HT3 tool and conducting visual analysis of injection results, which vary in pigment concentration and drying temperature. The results show that high water content, especially from calcium carbonate type B (up to 0.0733%), contributes to visual defects in the form of white spots and colour inhomogeneity. The fluorescent red pigment exhibits the best visual performance at a concentration of 0.07%, whereas the purple pigment shows poor colour stability. Drying at 110°C for 2 hours is proven to be optimal for producing a clean and uniform TPU surface. This study emphasises the importance of raw material moisture control and pigment formulation optimisation in maintaining consistent TPU product quality, especially in applications with high aesthetic demands.

Abstract

Catalytic oxidation of spent sulfidic caustic consist of SH- ion or NaHS compound by H 2 O2 in neutral or acidic solution to elemental sulphur may provide a convenient and economical method for the control of sulphide wastes and their associated odors at pulp, paper and textile industry. Oxidation of sulfide in rayon waste by hydrogen peroxide was investigated in the presence of ferric sulfate catalyst. Kinetic equations and activation energies of H 2 O2 and SH- ion to total sulphur and sulphate in rayon waste for catalytic oxidation reaction were calculated based on the experimental results. For the removal of sulfide from sulfide solution the most common process involves its catalytic oxidation to a more benign form sulfate. The rate of sulfidic catalytic oxidation was found higher at lower initial sulphide concentration and the rate of sulphide catalytic oxidation was found directly proportional to loading and hydrogen peroxide addition. Optimum total sulphide concentration was achieved when sulphide solutions in the presence of H 2 O 2 in the ratios SH-/H 2 O 2 1:4.2. The potential user of H 2 O 2 determine the optimal conditions for control of odor, corrosion and waste treatment cost due to sulfide consisting of sulphur ion, sulphate ion, etc. The catalytic oxidation of sulphides into sulphates by H 2 O 2 may be applied directly to aqueous wastes containing these odorants

Abstract

Efforts to improve visual clarity and color stability in polypropylene (PP)-based products are carried out by adding clarifying agents, namely a sorbitol-based clarifying agent (PA) and a dibenzylidene sorbitol clarifying agent (NX), which function to accelerate crystal nucleation in within the polymer matrix. PP is widely used for packaging and automotive applications due to its clarity and transparency. This study was conducted to examine compliance and migration studies, assessing the suitability of the additives against quality standards and their migration stability. Migration tests were conducted visually using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheets at 55°C, with a 16-hour heating process. Additionally, a complaint analysis based on a digital prototype form was developed to identify the root causes of customer complaints related to color inconsistency, using the 4M approach (Man, Material, Machine, Method). The formulation includes dye pigments (small in size and easily migratable), organic pigments (more stable), and polyethylene wax as an internal lubricant. The results showed that 6 out of 7 samples with dye pigments experienced color migration (intensity 1–2), while organic pigments showed no migration (intensity 0). Clarifying agent improved clarity but failed to prevent pigment migration. Findings suggest that future research should focus on optimizing clarifying agents and additives to enhance pigment stability and durability.
