Abstract

Research on gastropods on Kolbano beach, South Central Timor Regency has never been published. The aim of this research was to determine the types of gastropods in the Intertidal Zone of Kolbano Beach, South Central Timor Regency. The samples used in the research were all gastropods located in plots located in the intertidal zone of Kolbano Beach. This research uses a qualitative approach, collecting research data using identification and documentation tables. Data analysis is completed using the Shanon Wienner Diversity Index formula. The results of the research showed that the gastropods successfully identified on Kolbano beach consisted of the species C.maldivus, B). C.flvidus, C). C.clerii, D). V. turbinllus, E). O. floralia, F). F. palidus, G). A.punctulata, H). Murex Blainvilli, I). Crassispira harpularia, J). T. reticulata, K). Plesiotrochus monachus, L). Persicula variabilis, M). C.scabridum, N). Vaceuelus favosus, O). Polinices tumidus, P). C.olidium, Q). M. moneta, R). Trochus maculates. S). Carolliophila solutistoma, T). M. myosotis. The results of the calculation of the diversity index, uniformity index and dominance index reached 2.195, so it can be concluded that the gastropods on Kolbano Beach consist of 16 families, 18 genera and 20 species and are at a medium level of diversity.

Abstract

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) refers to a group of bacteria that cause infections and present a challenge in treatment due to their resistance to several antibiotics. Therefore, research is needed to discover endophytic bacteria from Catharatus roseus capable of producing new antibiotics. This study aims to identify endophytic bacteria from C. roseus plants originating from Timor Island, as producers of effective antibacterial compounds against MRSA. Antibacterial activity tests were conducted on two types of test bacteria, namely MRSA and Escherichia coli. DNA extraction was performed using the PrestoTM Mini dDNA kit Bacteria, and amplification of the 16S rRNA gene was carried out. The research found bacterial isolates showing morphological similarities to Bacillus sp. Screening results indicated that four bacterial isolates exhibited high potential antibacterial activity against MRSA, as evidenced by the formation of inhibition zones with diameters of approximately 25 mm-35 mm. Amplification of the four endophytic bacterial isolates from C. roseus identified them as Paenibacillae FaCH2, Bacillae BoCH3, Aneurinibacillae BoCH5, Aneurinibacillae BiCH8, which are new species based on 16S rRNA gene similarity of less than 97%. In conclusion, endophytic bacteria from C. roseus producing antibacterial compounds against MRSA have been successfully identified. This is beneficial to society because the antibacterial compounds produced can serve as a basis for developing new drugs that are effective against MRSA infections, considering the increasing antibiotic resistance against MRSA.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills, especially in science subjects, are insufficient because teachers only provide direct knowledge to students without giving students the opportunity to actively participate in learning. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of the Discovery Learning model towards the critical thinking skills of grade VII students at SMP Negeri 2 Kupang Tengah. This type of quantitative research uses a quasi experimental method. The research results show that the score of critical thinking skills of the students in experimental classes with an average posttest score of 80.46 higher than the pretest which is 50.04. Meanwhile, in the control class, the average pretest score was 45.21 and the average posttest score was 67.14. The results of the anacova test using the one-way anacova statistical analysis technique (one way-anacova) with the help of SPSS Version 23 obtained a probability value (sig) of 0.000 <from the set significant value of 0.05. Thus the null hypothesis (H 0 ) which states that there is no influence of the Discovery Learning model on students' critical thinking skills is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which states that there is an influence of the Discovery Learning model on students' critical thinking skills is accepted. The conclusion of this research is that the Discovery Learning model influences the critical thinking skills of grade VII students at UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Kupang.

Abstract

Longot Beach is one of the spiritual tourism destinations located in Lewoblolong Village, Ile Boleng District, East Flores Regency. To date, the number and types of gastropods in the intertidal zone of Longot Beach remain unknown. The purpose of this research is to determine the diversity and abundance of gastropod species at Longot Beach and to develop a biology learning medium in the form of a booklet. This research employs a research and development approach using the ADDIE model. The findings revealed 12 species of gastropods, namely Costoanachis sertulariarum, Cypraea pantherina, Conus miliaris, Conus lividus, Cypraea annulus, Nerita exuvia, Cellana nigrolineata, Cerithium zonatum, Cabestana cutacea, Canarium mutabile, Strombus alatus, and Nassarius mutabilis. The diversity index was calculated at 2.369803632, which falls into the moderate category. The highest species abundance index was 1.1 ind/m², while the lowest was 0.2 ind/m². The validation results of the booklet by media experts achieved a percentage of 80.08%, and by material experts, 89.28%, with an average of 84.68%, categorized as highly valid as a learning medium. The conclusion of this study is as follows: 12 species of gastropods were identified at Longot Beach with a diversity index in the moderate category, species abundance of 0.2 ind/m², and the developed booklet on gastropod diversity and abundance at Longot Beach in Lewoblolong Village is classified as valid for use as a learning medium.

Abstract

The students' learning outcomes are still low due to the teaching model used by teachers being suboptimal and the lack of utilization of learning media. A teaching model that can address this issue is the Discovery Learning model. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model assisted by audiovisual media on the learning outcomes of Grade VII students on the topic of Interactions Between Living Organisms and Their Environment at SMPN 1 Nagawutung Lembata during the 2023/2024 academic year. This research employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques include descriptive data analysis and inferential data analysis. The study results show that the average learning outcomes of students in the experimental class applying the Discovery Learning model assisted by audiovisual media were as follows: pretest average score of 50.15, posttest average score of 81.56, and N-Gain of 0.62, categorized as high. Meanwhile, the control class using the direct teaching model had a pretest average score of 45.15, posttest average score of 66.40, and N-Gain of 0.39, categorized as low. Based on the ANCOVA test results, the significance level was 0.043 < 0.05, indicating that the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) is accepted. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model assisted by audiovisual media affects the learning outcomes of Grade VII students on the topic of Interactions Between Living Organisms and Their Environment at SMPN 1 Nagawutung Lembata during the 2023/2024 academic year.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students in science learning, particularly biology, are due to the perception that biology material is difficult and boring. One way to improve students' learning outcomes is by using the guided inquiry learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of the guided inquiry learning model on the learning outcomes of Grade VII students in the topic of interactions between living organisms and their environment at SMPK St. Agustinus Adisucipto Penfui Kupang.The sample for this research consisted of Grade VII C students as the experimental class, using the guided inquiry learning model, and Grade VII D students as the control class, using the direct instruction model. The type of research employed was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. The research design used was the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of the study showed that the average learning mastery of students in the experimental class had a pretest score of 53.23 and a posttest score of 81.61, with an N-Gain of 0.60, categorized as high. Meanwhile, the control class had an average pretest score of 45.5 and a posttest score of 72.5, with an N-Gain of 0.48, categorized as moderate. Based on the ANCOVA test results, the significance value was 0.001 < 0.05, which led to the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Thus, it can be concluded that the guided inquiry learning model significantly affects the learning outcomes of Grade VII students in the topic of interactions between living organisms and their environment at SMPK St. Agustinus Adisucipto Penfui Kupang.

Abstract

Bakteri lipolitik berperan dalam mendegradasi sampah yang mengandung lipid dengan bantuan enzim lipase. Penelitian  ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik bakteri lipolitik dari tanah Tempat pembuangan sementara (TPS) di Kota Kupang. Prosedur penelitian meliputi isolasi bakteri, karakterisasi makroskopis, karakterisasi mikroskopis dan uji aktivitas lipolitik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan 8 isolat bakteri yang diberi kode L1A, L2A, L3A, L4A, L5A, L6A, L7A, dan L8A, Karakterisasi makroskopis ditemukan bakteri yang memiliki bentuk, tepian, elevasi dan warna yang berbeda, karakterisasi mikroskopis ditemukan bakteri dengan kode isolat L1A, L2A, dan L7A merupakan bakteri gram negatif, sedangkan L3A, L4A, L5A, L6A dan L8A merupakan bakteri gram positif. Hasil uji aktivitas menunjukkan bahwa semua isolat memiliki aktivitas lipolitik dengan adanya zona kuning di sekitar koloni bakteri dimana isolat L1A mempunyai indeks lipolitik terbesar yaitu 10,7 mm sedangkan isolat L3A mempunyai indeks lipolitik terkecil yaitu 4 mm. maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa bakteri lipolitik dapat ditemukan pada tanah TPS di Kota Kupang dengan karakteristik yang berbeda dan mempunyai aktivitas dalam mendegradasi lipid.

Abstract

Lantana camara L. memiliki warna mahkota bunga yang variasi. Meskipun berasal dari spesies yang sama, struktur sel epidermis dan stomata dari tumbuhan tersebut dapat berbeda. Perbedaan tersebut menambah kompleksitas dari mata kuliah anatomi tumbuhan sehingga mahasiswa pendidikan biologi Unwira mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep dan ditambah dengan visualisasi materi yang kurang jelas dimana gambar yang digunakan selama perkuliahan berupa gambar ilustrasi yang berbeda dari setiap sumbernya. Selain itu, beberapa lensa mikroskop di laboratorium berjamur karena kurangnya perawatan sehingga mengaburkan pandangan dan mengurangi ketajaman gambar mengakibatkan informasi yang diperoleh menjadi tidak akurat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui struktur sel epidermis dan stomata daun Lantana camara L. dengan variasi warna dan untuk mengetahui kelayakan media e-atlas struktur sel epidermis dan stomata daun Lantana camara L. dengan variasi warna sebagai media pembelajaran pada mata kuliah anatomi tumbuhan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research & Development) dengan menggunakan model ADDIE, dengan metode stomatal printing. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sel epidermis terdiri dari dua bentuk yakni bentuk lekukan memanjang (sampel berwarna kuning, orange, pink, dan pink-orange) dan bentuk yang tidak beraturan (sampel berwarna merah, putih, putih-kuning dan ungu). Jumlah sel tetangga yang dimiliki bervariasi dengan tipe stomata yaitu aktinositik (sampel yang berwarna kuning, orange, pink, dan pink-orange), anomositik (sampel merah, putih dan ungu) dan anisositik (sampel berwarna putih-kuning). Hasil validasi e-atlas memperoleh nilai rata-rata 81,25% dan dikategorikan sangat valid.

emanfaatan teknologi seperti aplikasi canva dalam pembelajaran dipandang perlu agar proses pembelajaran lebih menarik bagi peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, guru dituntut untuk menguasai keterampilan dalam menggunakan berbagai aplikasi yang mendukung pembelajaran termasuk canva. Permasalahannya adalah guru-guru belum terampil menggunakan teknologi dalam pembelajaran. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pendampingan kepada guru-guru agar terampil dalam mendesain lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD) interaktif berbasis aplikasi canva. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode presentase materi, pendampingan intensif dalam kelompok dan evaluasi. Hasilnya guru-guru mendapatkan pengetahuan cara mengakses dan menggunakan aplikasi canva dengan mudah, mendapatkan ide kreatif mendesain LKPD sesuai dengan materi yang diajarkan dan terutama motivasi untuk mengaplikasikan canva dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Sosadale Beach is one of the tourist attractions located in Siomeda Village, Rote Tengah District, Rote Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Sosadale Beach has a fairly wide intertidal zone so that many marine biota live in the zone, one of which is gastropods. Until now there has been no publication regarding the diversity of gastropods in Sosadale Beach. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of gastropods, the level of diversity and abundance of gastropod types in Sosadale Beach and to determine the feasibility of E-Atlas as a learning medium for Invertebrate Zoology courses. The type of research used is research and development. (Research and Development). The research method used in this study is the line transect method, where the drawing of the transect line will be determined based on the substrate. The data obtained were analyzed by identifying and continuing with calculating the diversity and abundance index of gastropods. The results of the data analysis were developed into E-Atlas media using 3 stages of the ADDIE model, namely analysis, design and development. The results showed that the types of gastropods found were 15 species, namely Cypraea annulus, Oliva tremulina, Oliva bulbiformis, Conus figulinis, Bufonaria rana, Conus capitaneus, Haustrum haustorium, Terebralia palustris, Polinices mammilla, Monoplex nicobaricus, Nerita undata, Tritia reticulata, Nerita plicata, Canarium labiatum, and Nassarius stolatus. The results of the diversity index calculation were 2.561119601 with a moderate category and the gastropod abundance index was 7.2 Ind / m2. The results of the E-Atlas validation by media experts obtained a percentage of 86.67% and material experts 96.67% so that an average percentage of 91.67% was obtained with very valid criteria. The conclusion of this study is as follows: gastropods found on Sosadale Beach are 15 species. The gastropod diversity index is 2.561119601 with a moderate category and the gastropod abundance index is 7.2 Ind/m2. The average percentage of validation by media experts and material experts is 91.67%, so the resulting E-Atlas is very valid and suitable for use as a learning medium.
