Abstract

This study aims to determine the spread of herbal vegetation in the environment of the campus environment of UNWIRA Penfui Kupang, by applying vegetation parameters including density, relative density, frequency, relative frequency, dominance, relative dominance, Importance Value Index (INP), and Comparison Important Value (SDR). The method used in this study is the quadratic method, with the determination of the sampling point divided into two observation stations, based on open and sheltered areas with each station there are 5 observation plots with a size of 1x1 m2. The results of research conducted in the environment of the campus environment of UNWIRA Penfui Kupang found 7 types of herbal plants namely Solanum nigrum, Mussaenda frondosa, Oplismenus hirtellus, Amaranthus viridis, Eclipta L, Bidens pilosa, Imperata cylindrical and the composition of the highest number of individuals were Oplismenus hirtellus. The amount of diversity index value of basket grass plants (Oplismenus hirtellus) is 0.146 with a large amount of basket grass plants tend to be more stable compared to the other 6 plants found. Index value of vegetation diversity of herbaceous plants obtained is 0.782, so species diversity is lacking.

Abstract

A professional science teacher is a teacher who not only understands the basics of science but also understands the skills of the scientific process. However, the results of the tracer study show that science process skills (SSP) from Unwira Biology Education graduates is still low. Therefore, the right strategy is needed to create graduates who understand SSP, like practical jigsaw-based cooperative strategies. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of practical-based jigsaw strategies on the science process skills of biology education students. This research is a quasi-experiment. The sample used was the fourth-semester students of class A and Class B. Class A as a control and class B as an experimental. The results showed that the average score of students' SPS in the experimental class was 90.4 while in the control class was 62.67. After being analyzed using the Independent-Sample t-Test, it showed a significant effect with a value of 0.036. This research concludes that the practical-based jigsaw strategy influences student science process skills.

Abstract

Purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of cooperative learning Think Pair Share through approach to the learning outcomes and student activity. Data were collected through interviews and an essay test learning outcomes. Interview data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive essay test while learning outcomes quantitatively analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the application of the learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) can effectively improve student learning outcomes, it is seen from an average of 34,06% pretest on posttest increased by 83,13% with an average increase in pretest to posttest amounting to 49,06%, and the classical completeness amounted to 87.50% of learning outcomes as well as the implementation of learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) activity can be enhanced student learning.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif melalui pendekatan Think Pair Share terhadap hasil belajar dan aktivitas siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan tes esai hasil belajar. Data hasil wawancara dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif, sedangkan tes esai hasil belajar dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Think Pair Share (TPS) efektif dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Hal ini dilihat dari rata-rata pretest sebesar 34,06% mengalami peningkatan pada posttest sebesar 83,13 % dengan rata-rata peningkatann pretest ke posttest sebesar 49,06 %, dan ketuntasan klasikal hasil belajar sebesar 87,50% begitu juga dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Think Pair Share (TPS) aktivitas belajar siswa dapat ditingkatkan.

Abstract

SMA Kristen Pandhega jaya mempunyai misi yaitu menanamkan dan menumbuhkan jiwa kewirausahaan dalam diri siswa namun selama ini belum tercapai dikarenakan selama pembelajaran kewirausahaan siswa tidak pernah diajarkan praktek kewirausahaan sehingga siswa kurang bersemangat dalam mengikuti kegiatan pembelajaran. Solusi yang ditawarkan untuk mengatasi permasalah yang dialami oleh siswa di SMA Kristen Pandhega jaya adalah memberikan sosialisasi serta pelatihan pembuatan produk makanan menggunakan pangan lokal dengan demikian bisa menumbuhkan minat berwirausaha siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah non-eksperimental dan prosedur jalannya kegiatan ini terbagi atas empat tahap yaitu tahap perencanaan, tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil analisis kuisioner yang diperoleh pada tahap sosialisasi diperoleh data bahwa peserta PKM sering mengkonsumsi tempe, namun tidak mengetahui bahwa biji kacang merah bisa diolah menjadi tempe,sementara pada tahap pelatihan sebagian dari peserta pelatihan tau cara memilih biji kacang merah yang bagus untuk bahan baku pembuatan tempe kacang merah, dan pada tahap uji organoleptik terhadap 20 responden menunjukan bahwa tempe kacang merah yang dibuat pada kegiatan ini memilik warna yang agak putih serta aroma yang sangat khas tempe, teksturnya keras dan rasa dari tempe kacang merah sangat enak sehingga para peserta tertarik untuk membuat produk tempe dengan bahan pangan yang berbeda.

Abstract

The learning process using electronic learning (e-learning) can be done remotely, without having to meet face to face in the room directly, and the learning time is more flexible. Biology Education Widya Mandira Catholic University is one of the parties who feel learning using e-learning, but in reality there are still many students who do not understand the use of e-learning in the learning process, this of course will affect the learning process carried out by lecturers and students if not overcome. The purpose of this study was to determine student perceptions of the Widya Mandira Catholic University Biology Education Study Program towards Learning using e-learning during the Covid 19 Pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach, sampling is done by purposive sampling technique, data collection techniques are carried out by filling out questionnaires through google forms and interviews to find out obstacles in learning using e-learning. The results showed that the perception of students of the Widya Mandira Catholic University Biology Education Study Program towards learning using e-learning obtained an average perception score of 59,69% with a good category. The conclusion of this study is the students' perception of learning using e-learning is in a fairly good category with an average perception value of 59,69% this is because some students feel they do not understand the learning materials, the time provided is not in accordance with the existing credits, learning using e-learning requires internet or wifi packages, and lack of interaction between lecturers and students.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to isolate endophytic bacteria in aloe vera, to determine the antibacterial ability of endophytic bacteria contained in aloe vera against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria and to determine the characterization of endophytic bacteria found in aloe vera. This research is a laboratory experimental study with research procedures, namely sampling by purposive sampling method, isolation of endophytic bacteria carried out by strake plate, antibacterial potential test against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli using paper disc diffusion method, Morphological identification was carried out by staining bacteria gram, Phenotypic characterization of endophytic bacteria using Profile matching method. The results showed that endophytic bacteria found in aloe vera leaves were characterized by the growth of bacterial colonies on Murashige-Skoog (MS) media with different shapes and colors, the results of the antibacterial potential of endophytes against the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus showed that there were 6 bacterial isolates that showed clear zones in Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and characterization results showed that isolates H2L, H9L and H10L had similar genera to Staphylococcus and Bacillus while isolates H4L, H5L and H7L had similar genera to Pseudomonas.

Abstract

Hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPA di SMPN 4 Kupang masih rendah,hal ini karena model pembelajaran yang digunakan guru dalam mengajar belum sepenuhnya melibatkan peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Salah satu pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik terhadap konsep biologi adalah menggunakan model Problem Based Learning. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas VIII di SMPN 4 Kupang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yaitu dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik pada pretestsebesar 47,09 sedangkan postest  sebesar77,09. Hasil uji anacova, menunjukan bahwa nilai probabilitas (sig) lebih kecil dari taraf signifikan yang digunakan 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga H0 yang menyatakan tidak ada pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik ditolak sedangkan Ha yang menyatakan ada pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik diterima. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh modelProblem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas VIII di SMPN 4 Kupang.

Abstract

Masyarakat di Desa Tasinifu, Kecamatan Mutis, Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara, sering menggunakan obat kimia dalam pengobatan penyakit pada ternak, tetapi penggunaan obat itu ternyata tidak memberikan efek yang menguntungkan pada hewan ternak. Oleh karena itu, masyarakat saat ini menggunakan alternatif pengobatan secara tradisional untuk mengatasi penyakit pada ternak. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendata tumbuhan obat yang sering digunaan masyarakat Desa Tasinufu dalam mengobati penyakit pada ternak. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif yaitu data yang terkumpul berbentuk kata-kata atau gambar. Data hasil wawancara dikelompokkan berdasarkan spesies tumbuhan obat, dan dilengkapi uraian mengenai bagian tumbuhan yang digunakan, cara meramu, cara menggunakan serta jenis penyakit yang diobati. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat 19 jenis tumbuhan yang digunakan sebagai obat tradisional yaitu Nicotiana tabacum L., Coripha sp., Piper betle L., Schleichera oleosa Merr., Kaempferia galanga L., Sansevieria trifasciata, Philodendron sp., Swietenia macrophyllaking, Anredera cordifolia, Curcuma domestica L., Alpinia galanga L., Zingiber offcinale, Allium sativus L., Allium ascalonium L., Cocos muciferal, Casuarina sp., Swietenia macrophyllaking, dan Musa acuminate L.. Organ tumbuhan yang digunakan sebagai obat tradisional meliputi, daun, rimpang, kulit, umbi, buah, batang. Jenis penyakit ternak yang diobati meliputi, tetelo, batuk, sakit mata, cacingan, nafsu makan menurun, luka, kudis, dan diare.

Abstract

The healty lifestyle is a habits that needs to be used as a principle of life by every people to improving the life quality especially for the health sector. The good comprehension of health can help every people for stunting prevention. Stunting is a kind of disease that caused by the poor nutrition of meals for the children for their growing period. By the community service program of public education of high nutrition food for the parents to increase the nutrition grade for these children is expected to prevent the potential for stunting in these children. In addition, this community service program give the new experience for the community to utilize the ingridients food to create the high nutrition food with low price and can produce in every household. Abstract

Research in the field of microbiology regarding the identification of endophytic bacteria in aloe vera is still rarely carried out while many people in East Nusa Tenggara often use aloe vera to cure diseases. The purpose of this study was to identify the endophytic bacteria Aloe barbadensis miller and to determine its antibacterial ability against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escsherichia coli bacteria.  The research procedures included taking samples using purposive sampling method, isolating endophytic bacteria using streak plate method, testing the antibacterial potential against Staphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli using the paper disc diffusion method. The results showed that endophytic bacteria found on aloe vera leaves were marked by the growth of several bacterial colonies on Murashige-Skoog media with different shapes and colors, then the colonies were separated and 8 isolates were obtained with isolate codes C1B, C2B, C3B, C4B, C5B, C6B, C7B and C8B. The results of the antibacterial potency test showed that isolates C1B, C3B, C5B and C8B had the potential to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus characterized by the presence of a clear zone on the surface of the media with the largest size being 20 mm in isolate C1B and the smallest clear zone being 7 mm in isolate C8B, while isolate C1B, C3B, C5B and C8B have the potential to inhibit the growth of Eschericia coli bacteria characterized by the presence of a clear zone on the surface of the media with the largest size of 10 mm in isolate C1B and the smallest clear zone of 7 mm in isolate C8B. The conclusion of this study is that endophytic bacteria have been identified in aloe vera and some of these bacteria have antibacterial abilities against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria.
