Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of lecturer competency on English language education students at FKIP Sisingamangaraja XII Tapanuli University. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. Data collection was carried out using population, samples, and sampling techniques. All Class I, II, and III Teaching Campus participants from the 2018-2019 FKIP Sisingamangaraja XII Tapanuli University English Language Education study program are the population of this research. The sample for this research is all participants in the 2018-2019 FKIP Sisingamangaraja XII Tapanuli University English Language Education Teaching Campus program from classes I, II, and III, totaling 33 students. Data and data sources were obtained from lecturers and students of English Language Education, FKIP, Singsingarah XII Tapanuli University. In this research, the researcher's analysis to test this hypothesis uses a simple linear regression test to determine the influence of the independent variables on the respective dependent variables. The results of the research show that the influence of the Campus Teaching Program as an Effort in Preparing to Become a Professional Lecturer on English Language Education Students at FKIP Sisingamangaraja XII Tapanuli University is Adequate Academic Qualifications amounting to 90%, Experience in the Field amounting to 80%, Mastery of Teaching Materials amounting to 58%, Adaptation Ability amounting to 85%, Use of Educational Technology 75%, Coaching and Guidance amounting to 55%, Responsiveness to Students amounting to 95%, Evaluation and Feedback amounting to 65%, Ethics and Professional Attitudes 80%, and Innovation in Teaching amounting to 91%. There is a significant influence of the Independent Learning Campus Teaching Program (MBKM) as an effort to become competent lecturers for English language education students at FKIP Sisingamangaraja XII Tapanuli University with an average score of 80%.

Abstract

This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology to design, develop, and evaluate the Participatory, Integrative, and Collaborative Competency-Based Training Model (PIKOLAK), utilizing a blended learning approach to enhance the professional competence of teachers in Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The development process followed an iterative sequence of stages, including a comprehensive needs analysis, systematic model design, expert validation, and rigorous field testing. The blended learning framework integrated face-to-face sessions with online components, allowing for greater flexibility and accessibility while maintaining instructional quality. The implementation of the PIKOLAK model resulted in a marked improvement in teachers' professional competencies. Quantitative analysis revealed a statistically significant increase in mean test scores, rising from 65.2 on the pre-test to 83.7 on the post-test (p < 0.01). These findings suggest that the model effectively addressed gaps in teachers' knowledge and skills. Qualitative feedback from participating teachers further supported these outcomes, indicating increased engagement, stronger collaborative practices, and enhanced application of pedagogical competencies in real classroom contexts. The participatory and integrative learning strategies embedded in the model were particularly appreciated, as they fostered a sense of ownership and relevance among learners. Overall, the results affirm that the PIKOLAK model is a valid, reliable, and effective framework for advancing teacher professional development. Its blended format offers a scalable and adaptable solution that accommodates diverse learning needs while promoting sustainable, practice-based improvements in educational quality. Consequently, the model holds significant potential for broader implementation across similar educational contexts.

Abstract

The development of the digital era has brought significant changes to children's education patterns, which not only emphasizes cognitive aspects but also demands the development of life skills, including an entrepreneurial spirit. Entrepreneurship from an early age is seen as an important strategy for instilling independence, creativity, innovation, and the courage to take risks. Integrating art, particularly traditional Batak Toba music, with entrepreneurship education offers a relevant approach to shaping a generation that is creative, productive, and rooted in local culture. However, several key issues still exist, such as children's low awareness of the economic value of artwork, minimal use of simple technology in art education, and a lack of innovation in art products aimed at business opportunities. To address these challenges, the service team from Sisingamangaraja XII University of Tapanuli implemented the program "Entrepreneurship-Based Multicultural Education: Fostering Batak Toba Cultural Awareness and Entrepreneurial Creativity in Early Childhood Education Children in Jagung Village, Tampahan District" in Gurgur Aek Raja Village, Tampahan District, Toba Regency. The participants in the activity included 32 preschool children, 2 teachers, parents, traditional music trainers, and the community service team. The implementation method is designed in five main stages: (1) socialization about the importance of art entrepreneurship from an early age; (2) introductory and practical training on traditional Batak Toba musical instruments (hasapi, sulim, taganing, garantung, sordam); (3) application of simple technology thru the creation of musical instruments from local materials; (4) continuous mentoring and evaluation; and (5) program sustainability planning thru integration into the early childhood education curriculum. The results of the activities show a positive response from all parties. The children looked enthusiastic, more confident, and were able to play simple rhythmic patterns. Teachers gained new skills to integrate traditional music into learning, while parents increasingly supported children practicing at home. The handover of a set of traditional musical instruments strengthens the sustainability of the program. Additionally, the activities resulted in innovations in the form of hard technology (modified traditional musical instruments and simple musical instruments made from local materials) and soft technology (local culture-based learning methods, musical skills, and knowledge of art entrepreneurship). The evaluation shows an improvement in understanding of Batak Toba culture, musical skills, creativity, and early indications of an entrepreneurial spirit in children. The real impact of this program can be seen in three main dimensions: (1) education, namely the development of children's creativity, courage, and skills; (2) socio-cultural, namely the growth of awareness and pride in preserving Batak Toba culture; and (3) economic, namely the emergence of business opportunities based on traditional art and music. The external activities include scientific articles, mass media publications, documentary videos, and educational posters.
