Abstract

This research is motivated by the observation that several industries still use manual control circuits, such as star delta controllers on 3-phase motors. So the author will conduct a study on the effect of using a star delta system with a manual circuit and PLC on a 3-phase electric motor with a capacity of 7.5 kW. The purpose of this study is to determine the stability of the initial current of the electric motor in the starting process, the current between the PLC and manual circuits and also to determine the occurrence of overshoot. PLC makes it easier to operate if the hardware and control room are 20 m apart, namely by using HMI (Human Machine Interface) to monitor the circuit. The data collection method is by observing the star delta PLC and manual circuits on 3-phase electric motors. The results of this study are that the star delta PLC control circuit produces a stable starting current surge of 21.11 - 22.37 A. Meanwhile, the manual star delta system has a starting current surge of 22.01 - 23.53 A. The current value on the star side measurement between the PLC and manual is 4 amperes - 5 amperes, while the star current value is calculated at 4.75 A without load. At the delta value produces a larger current because it uses a line-to-line voltage of 8.24 A without load. In the use of the circuit between PLC and manual there is no overshoot or voltage drop.

Abstract

The availability of fossil energy is increasingly in crisis due to its continuous use. The best alternative to anticipate this is new renewable energy (EBT). Minihydro Power Plant (PLTM) is a small-scale power plant that uses water power as the main medium to drive turbines and generators, the water comes from rivers by utilizing the height of the waterfall and the amount of water discharge. By knowing the water discharge value, it will later be analyzed with the power value produced by the generator. The type of research used is quantitative analysis research and pre-experimental one shot case study using the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows laptop software. Based on the results of simple linear regression analysis on summary, ANOVA and coefficient models. In the summary model, it is known that the R Square value is 1,000, which means that the influence of the independent variable (water flow) on the dependent variable (power) is 100%. And this is confirmed by the coefficient results which show a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which means that the water discharge has an effect on the power produced by the generator. The higher the water discharge value, the higher the power produced.

Abstract

The operation of the transformer power distribution is the center of the transmission and distribution system. Given the almost continuous hard work of the transformer, its operation needs to be considered to prevent several disturbances that can reduce the optimal work of the transformer. One of the disturbances that can be found in the substation transformer is the hot-spot temperature at the terminal connection between the conductor cable and the equipment at the substation. This temperature is closely related to the protection and reliability of the system in the switchyard. To overcome the problems that occur in the transformer, especially the 150 kV Kalibakal Purwokerto Substation regarding the hot spots that occur at the transformer conductor bay connection. Routine temperature checks are carried out every day at the transformer connection point using a Thermovisi Flir E60 thermal imager measuring instrument that can determine the temperature value at the conductor connection clamp by looking at the infrared light from the tool. The results of the test evaluation carried out in this thermovisi method use the calculation of the temperature difference (∆T) between the clamp and the conductor, the results obtained are that none of the temperatures exceed >10˚C. The calculation of the emissivity value using Stefan Boltzman's law obtained an average emissivity of 0.506, which means it is included in the temperature range in accordance with the Standard Reference Material (SRM) (aluminum emissivity 0.5). Precision testing with a precision percentage expressed by the Coefficient of Variation (CV) obtained from 45 test points is 0.23%, this result can be categorized as a good result from the CV value standard of <2%. The calculation of the accuracy test found a result of 99.88%, which means that the points tested are still in good condition.

Abstract

Along with the increasing use of electrical energy and air pollution, one of which is caused by fossil fuel resources, has encouraged an increase in the use of renewable energy, especially solar power. Solar Power Plants (PLTS) have become an attractive alternative, especially for industrial and residential needs because they can reduce the cost of conventional electricity bills. At the design stage of the Solar Power Plant on-grid and off-grid systems in buildings with a power of 60,500 Wp by going through the stages of calculating the required load according to the conditions in the building, to obtain the required PLTS component capacity. In the long term, there will be an understanding of the use of renewable energy sustainably. The comparison results show that the cost between installing on-grid PLTS and installing off-grid PLTS is actually greater for on-grid PLTS with a cost of Rp. 444,301,500 than for installing off-grid PLTS with a cost of Rp. 332,214,000. However, the on-grid PLTS system offers a better system because it does not require a large area for battery storage, lower maintenance costs and can remain connected to the main network so it is very suitable for industrial needs.

Abstract

The existence of batteries in the substation functions to maintain the stability and reliability of the DC electrical system, where the protection system on the control panel must not go out. Therefore, routine battery maintenance and testing are needed so that the battery can run properly and optimally. Battery testing is a routine agenda that is carried out every 6 months. For daily maintenance, a visual inspection (vision) can be carried out, while monthly maintenance is carried out in the form of a battery equalizing test which is carried out so that the 110V DC battery remains stable and can supply DC to auxiliary equipment when in an emergency. The test results obtained in this study were that the equalizing test on the 110V DC battery that was carried out obtained the battery results in normal conditions. This is explained, when the battery is connected to the load and the voltage per battery cell is measured in floating charging mode showing an average voltage of 1.34 V DC. When the battery is in equalizing charging mode, the voltage capacity on each battery cell can be said to be normal or stable with a total voltage value of 128.2 V DC and a temperature value of 27 ºC. For the measurement results of each battery cell after equalizing charging, the average voltage value per battery cell is 1.35 V DC with a total voltage of 116 V DC. It can be concluded that the equalizing test on the 110V battery unit 1 of the 150 KV Main Substation is fairly normal and the battery is ready when run in discharge mode

Abstract

Electricity has become a primary necessity in modern life, and the substation functions as a pivotal hub for its distribution from the source to the customer. This critical infrastructure is equipped with vital equipment such as PMT (Power Breakers), which play a crucial role in ensuring system reliability. The PMT serves dual functions as both a breaker and a connecting switch, handling anomalies or network repairs efficiently. However, PMT operations frequently involve arcs, which have the potential to damage equipment. To mitigate this risk, SF6 insulating gas is employed to effectively extinguish arcs, ensuring the safety and reliability of the electrical network. Routine testing is imperative to ensure the efficacy of SF6 gas, encompassing assessments of purity, dew point, and decomposition products. The present study was conducted over a period of two months at the 150kV Kalibakal Substation. The research method incorporated field observation, a comprehensive review of existing literature, and rigorous SF6 gas testing procedures. The study's findings revealed that the average purity of SF6 gas exceeded 97%, the presence of decomposition products of SO2 was absent, and the dew point was recorded to be less than -5°C. Additionally, the SF6 gas pressure at Bay bumiayu 1 and bumiayu 2 remained within safe limits, exceeding 6.4 bar.A significant decrease in pressure could potentially compromise the functionality of the PMT, as it was observed that the PMT operates optimally at pressures above the nominal value. However, at pressures below the nominal value, the performance of the PMT is compromised, leading to malfunctions in the arc fire extinguisher and potentially causing equipment damage and endangering human safety. The findings indicate that the condition of SF6 gas is stable and safe for substation operations.
