Abstract

Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang dapat menghambat reaksi oksidasi, dengan mengikat radikal bebas dan molekul yang sangat reaktif. Beberapa jenis bahan pakan yang dapat digunakan sebagai antioksidan yaitu daun Indigofera dan kunyit. Tepung pucuk Indigofera zollingeriana memiliki kandungan bahan aktif berupa β-karoten yang bermanfaat sebagai antioksidan serta pada kunyit kandungan kurkumin dan minyak atsiri yang bermanfaat sebagai antioksidan, keduanya memiliki bahan aktif yang bermanfaat sebagai antioksidan namun belum diketahui kemampuan aktivitas antioksidan kedua tanaman jika dikombinasikan. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui seberapa besar aktivitas antioksidan yang terkandung dalam tepung Indigofera zollingeriana, kunyit dan kombinasi keduanya untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif feed additive pada unggas. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan perlakuan yang terdiri dari : P0 : Vitamin C, P1 : Tepung Indigofera 100%, P2 : Kunyit 100%, P3 : Tepung Indigofera 25% + Kunyit 75%, P4 : Tepung Indigofera 50% + Kunyit 50%, P5 : Tepung Indigofera 75% + Kunyit 25%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai aktivitas antioksidan P0 : 97,12%, P1 : 26,34%, P2: 79,27%, P3 : 78,60%, P4 : 75,5%, P5 : 58,10%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan 100% tepung kunyit memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tertinggi, sedangkan penggunaan tepung Indigofera zollingeriana (100%) tidak direkomendasikan karena memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang rendah. Kombinasi tepung Indigofera zollingeriana 25% + kunyit 75% dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif feed additive pada unggas dan memiliki nilai aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan kombinasi lainnya. Abstract

Training on hatching machine manufacturing in Watumotobe Village, Kapontori Subdistrict, Buton District, aims to increase the capacity of local farmers in optimizing poultry egg hatching independently and efficiently. The majority of people in this area still use traditional methods that are less efficient in the hatching process, limiting poultry productivity. This training provides technical skills to farmers to build and operate simple hatching machines with optimal temperature and humidity settings. The application of this technology is expected to increase egg hatching rates, save time, and reduce dependence on the mother hen in the hatching process. In addition to improving technical skills, this training aims to empower the community economically and encourage self-reliance in poultry farming based on appropriate technology. The results of the training showed that participants gained a better understanding of the ideal hatching process and were able to modify the hatching machine according to local needs. This training can encourage the development of a more productive, sustainable poultry farming business and improve community welfare in Buton District.

Abstract

Community service activities carried out by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry lecturer team integrated with the Thematic KKN program from the Halu Oleo University Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) Year 2024 were carried out in Soropia Village, Soropia District, Konawe Regency. Introducing the technique of making hatching machines and how to operate them to the community in Soropia Village. This is intended so that farmers can understand new technology in the poultry farming industry which functions to replace the role of mothers in incubating eggs and is expected to increase livestock productivity more optimally. Service activities in Soropia Village were carried out in two stages. The first stage was observation by conducting documentation data collection methods and discussions with community leaders as stakeholders. The results of the discussion showed that most of the community's understanding of egg incubators was still limited. The second stage involved developing a solution by designing and manufacturing a hatching machine, including procedures for its operation. The output achieved in this activity is an increase in insight and knowledge about automatic egg hatching machine technology.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the skills and knowledge of the community in processing fishery products into processed products with economic value, especially fish balls. The activity was carried out in Watumotobe Village, Kapontori District, with the main target of housewives, MSME players, and fishermen groups. The methods used were counseling, hands-on training in making fish balls, and discussion and evaluation with participants. The results of the activity showed that participants were able to understand and practice the process of making fish balls well, starting from the selection of ingredients, mixing dough, shaping, to boiling and storage techniques. In addition, this activity opened participants' insights about the potential of local fish-based businesses and the importance of product packaging and marketing. The conclusion of this activity is that the fish meatball making training is effective in improving community skills and has the potential to support local economic development based on fishery resources.

Abstract

Small-scale goat farmers play a vital role in supplying animal protein in Indonesia but continue to face challenges in improving productivity and livelihood, particularly due to suboptimal reproductive and health management of their livestock. This study aims to assess the impact of improved reproductive and health management practices on the welfare of smallholder goat farmers. The methods employed included technical training, field mentoring, and evaluation of animal health conditions before and after intervention. The results showed that implementing proper reproductive management—such as heat cycle tracking, selection of superior bucks, and systematic disease prevention and treatment—led to increased birth rates and decreased kid mortality. Consequently, farmers’ income rose by an average of 25% within one production cycle. This study highlights the importance of an integrated approach to reproductive and health management as an effective strategy to sustainably enhance smallholder farmers’ welfare.

Abstract

Ayam kampung merupakan salah satu contoh sumber daya genetik lokal di Indonesia, yang memiliki keunggulan antara lain lebih mudah dipelihara dan lebih tahan terhadap penyakit, dapat memanfaatkan limbah dapur serta dagingnya yang gurih jika dibandingkan dengan ayam dari luar negeri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis frekuensi gen sifat-sifat kualitatif ayam kampung di Kecamatan Lembo, Kabupaten Konawe Utara. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah ayam kampung dengan kisaran umur 6 - 2 tahun sebanyak 300 ekor yang terdiri dari 150 ekor jantan dan 150 ekor betina. Variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah frekuensi gen sifat kualitatif meliputi warna bulu, pola bulu, corak bulu, kerlip bulu, warna shank dan bentuk jengger. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa frekuensi gen untuk warna bulu ayam kampung adalah 0,94 dan putih polos adalah 0,056. Frekuensi gen untuk pola warna bulu columbian adalah 0,44, pola warna bulu liar 0,55 dan 0,11 untuk pola warna bulu hitam. Frekuensi gen untuk pola warna bulu polos adalah 0,23 dan frekuensi untuk pola warna bulu lurik adalah 0,77. Frekuensi gen untuk kerlipan bulu emas dan perak masing-masing adalah 0,69 dan 0,31. Frekuensi gen untuk warna betis kuning/putih adalah 0,57 dan warna betis hitam/abu-abu adalah 0,43. Frekuensi gen untuk jengger tunggal adalah 0,63, jengger kacang adalah 0,17 dan jengger ros adalah 0,21.
