Abstract

This research is concerned in analyzing of figurative language in the speech of President Jokowi in G20 Summit 2022 in the opening part of the speech. In this research, problems arise regarded the types and meaning of figurative language and the most dominant type of figurative language in the speech of President Jokowi in G20 Summit 2022. This research used the figurative language based in Perrine’s theory perception (1977:61). Figurative language consist of 12 kinds, there are; simile, metaphor, personification, apostrophe, synecdoche, metonymy, symbol, allegory, paradox, hyperbole/overstatement, understatement and irony. The methodology used in this research is qualitative research and this research used the content method. Document or content analysis is a research method applied to written or visual material with the aim of identifying certain characteristics of that material. The data in this research is speech of President Jokowi in G20 Summit 2022. After investigated the types of figurative language in the speech of President Jokowi in G20 Summit 2022, researcher found total of 15 sentences contained figurative language in the speech of President Jokowi. There are 5 types of figurative language used in the speech of President Jokowi from the 12 types of figurative language proposed by Perrine (1977:61). There are five types of figurative language found in President Jokowi's speech, namely: synecdoche: 5 data, metonymy: 3 data, paradox: 3 data, metaphor: 2 data, and irony: 2 data. The most dominant types of figurative language in the speech of President Jokowi in G20 Summit 2022 are synecdoche which represents were synecdoche 34%, metonymy 20%, paradox 20%, metaphor 13%, irony 13%. It can be concluded that President Jokowi's speech contains wise sentences and explains the essence of what he wants to convey to the audience, so that the audience is interested in listening and understanding the contents of the speech.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the lack of reinforcement, the lack of student writing skills. This study aims to determine The Effect Of Reinforcement On Writing Skill At Eleventh Grade Students In Smk Negeri 1 Pematang Siantar. The population in this study were eleventh grade OTKP students and the samples in this study were eleventh grade OTKP-2 students totaling 31 students. This type of research is non-experimental quantitative research, data collection techniques using a questionnaire expressed in the form of a Likert Scale and documentation. The test results show that (1) there is a significant influence between reinforcement on writing ability in eleventh grade students of OTKP SMK Negeri 1 Pematang Siantar obtained tcount>ttable of (3,082>2,045) with significance <0.05 (0.000<0.05), then in the determination test results obtained R Square of 0,24, this means that reinforcement (X1) is distributed by 24%, while the other 76% is explained by other variable not discussed in this study.

Abstract

Orai application is an online public speaking course application designed to overcome the problem of speaking with intonation and pacing from the basis of practice. This research aims to determine students' perceptions towards Orai as learning media of speaking skills in grade VIII of SMP N 1 Pematang Siantar. In this research, the data collection instruments used were observation sheet and questionnaires sheet. Observation was used to observe English teaching and le arning activities in using the Orai application. The questionnaire sheet consists of twenty statements regarding student perceptions of the use Orai application made in a Google Form. The source of data in this research was taken from students of grade VIII-2. There were 20 participants selected as samples in this research. This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive design. Findings from the results of data analysis, students have positive and negative perceptions of the use Orai application as an English learning media. There were 19 statements included in the positive perception with a percentage of 95% and there was 1 statement with a percentage of 5%. Hadi (2018)) stated that perception has 2 types, namely positive and negative. Most participants have a positive perception of Orai as learning media speaking skill with the majority of answers chosen by students strongly agree that Orai is very helpful in learning English.

Abstract

The purpose of the implementation of this Community Service is to provide knowledge to the community, especially MSME players who produce young whiskey about digital marketing at Whiskey Producers in Marihat Jaya village, Pematangsiantar City, Kayugiyang Village, Garung District, Wonosobo Regency, marketing training using internet media. The implementation of the training was carried out in several stages including surveying the location of activities and MSMEs in Kayugiyang village. Planning stage, this stage is the stage of preparing plans and identifying program planning that will be implemented, then formulating various needs in planning an online marketing system. Socialization, socialization activities provide initial knowledge about online marketing to the community or MSME producers of Whiskey in Marihat Jaya village, Pematangsiantar City and provide delivery of the draft program of activities to be carried out. Implementation, this stage carries out google business account registration activities for people who have a business. Evaluation, this activity is carried out after completing the activity program. The community was very enthusiastic, marked by the many participants who attended the digital marketing training for the improvement of Whiskey Producer MSMEs in Marihat Jaya village, Pematangsiantar City.

Abstract

Writing skill is specific abilities which help writers put their thoughts into words in a meaningful form and mentally interact with the message. The objectives of this research to describe the students’ perceptions and the strength and the weakness of Grammarly. The research designed this study with qualitative method with the data from questionnaire. The findings show that: The use of Grammarly has been seen positively by students, with 80.1% strongly agree category. Grammarly has both strengths and weaknesses. Grammarly's strengths are that it provides both direct and indirect feedback, and that the feedback is simple to interpret. Grammarly also includes simple tools that can detect small mistakes in students' writing. Meanwhile, Grammarly's weaknesses include limited usage, the requirement to pay if students want to use all of Grammarly's premium features, and Grammarly's feedback was not always clear, requiring students to have a good understanding of grammar. Grammarly, on the other hand, has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of Grammarly are that it provides faster correction and that its features are simple to understand.

Abstract

Transformasi pembelajaran abad ke-21 menuntut guru untuk tidak hanya mentransfer pengetahuan, tetapi juga mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, reflektif, dan kreatif peserta didik melalui pendekatan deep learning. Di SD Swasta GKPS Rambungmerah, masih ditemukan keterbatasan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam menerapkan pendekatan ini secara efektif dalam proses pembelajaran. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan performa guru dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan pembelajaran berbasis deep learning melalui pelatihan, pendampingan, dan evaluasi berbasis praktik nyata. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pemaparan materi konseptual, lokakarya penyusunan RPP berbasis deep learning, simulasi pembelajaran (microteaching), serta evaluasi melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman guru terhadap prinsip-prinsip deep learning, serta keterampilan dalam menyusun dan melaksanakan pembelajaran yang mendorong eksplorasi, refleksi, dan kolaborasi siswa. Rata-rata peningkatan nilai posttest mencapai 42%, serta adanya perubahan pola pendekatan dalam pengajaran di kelas. Kegiatan ini menyimpulkan bahwa intervensi berbasis pelatihan dan praktik kontekstual dapat secara efektif meningkatkan performa profesional guru dalam menghadirkan pembelajaran yang lebih bermakna dan transformatif bagi peserta didik

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the Brainwriting Strategy has a significant effect on the recount text writing skills of grade XI students of SMA Swasta Kampus Nommensen Pematangsiantar. This study used a two-group design (quasi-experimental) by providing Brainwriting Strategy treatment to the experimental group and without the strategy to the control group. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test writing and analyzed using a t-test. The results of the analysis showed a very significant increase in the experimental group with an average post-test of 85.2, much higher than the control group which only reached 74.28. The t-test value of 6.482 with Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 (p<0.01) validates that there is a significant effect of the Brainwriting Strategy in improving students' recount text writing skills. This indicates that the alternative hypothesis (H0) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H1) was rejected. This strategy has proven to be very effective in encouraging students to generate ideas. and improve the quality of their writing.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) on students’ ability to write descriptive texts at SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. The research employed a quantitative method using a pre-test and post-test design with control and experimental groups. Two classes were selected through simple random sampling: XI-1 as the control group and XI-2 as the experimental group. The experimental group was taught using PWIM, while the control group was taught conventionally. The results showed that the experimental group’s mean score improved from 62.2 to 85.57, while the control group’s score increased from 63.08 to 71.63. The t-test result (3.43) was higher than the t-table value (2.382) at the 0.05 significance level, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that PWIM effectively improves students’ writing ability in descriptive texts.

Abstract

Penguatan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (Higher Order Thinking Skills atau HOTS) merupakan salah satu tuntutan utama dalam pembelajaran abad ke-21, khususnya pada jenjang sekolah dasar. Salah satu pendekatan yang dinilai efektif dalam mendorong HOTS adalah pendekatan deep learning yang menekankan pembelajaran bermakna, reflektif, kontekstual, dan berpusat pada siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi media pembelajaran berbasis deep learning serta menganalisis pengaruhnya terhadap penguatan HOTS siswa kelas V di UPTD SDN 125543. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain one-group pretest–posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 25 siswa kelas V. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes HOTS, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, dan angket respon siswa terhadap penggunaan media pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis deep learning mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan rata-rata nilai pretest ke posttest serta meningkatnya aktivitas belajar siswa pada aspek analisis, evaluasi, dan kreasi. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis deep learning efektif dalam menguatkan HOTS siswa sekolah dasar dan layak diterapkan dalam pembelajaran.
