Abstract

This article discusses the enactment of Ekadasa Rudra ceremony in 1963 and 1979 in Pura Agung Besakih, Karangasem, Bali. As the greatest Balinese Hindu ceremony held once in a century, the events were substantial and nationally widespread. The noted events in Indonesian history were in 1963 and 1979, it means that the spatial period was less than twenty years. That problem is an interesting topic to discuss. The discussion uses theory of power relation by Foucault and principle in historical research by Kuntowijoyo, these are determining topic, heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The analysis conducts from explaining each moment of Ekadasa Rudra in both years, then the analysis goes on into the discussion of applying theory of power relation to answer the research question. Abstract

Pendidikan lingkungan pada anak melalui penulisan karya sastra di Rumah Belajar dan Rumah Bermain Untukmu Si Kecil (RB-USK) bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan dan literasi di kalangan anak-anak. Program ini dimotivasi oleh masalah penggunaan gadget berlebihan yang menghambat perkembangan literasi dan kesadaran lingkungan. Melalui pendampingan dan pelatihan penulisan karya sastra bertema lingkungan, anak-anak didorong untuk menciptakan karya sastra yang orisinal. Kegiatan ini melibatkan penguatan manajemen organisasi RB-USK untuk memastikan kelangsungan program. Materi lingkungan membantu anak-anak mengembangkan keterampilan kritis seperti pemecahan masalah, analisis, dan pengambilan keputusan. Anak-anak akan belajar untuk mengevaluasi informasi dan membuat pilihan yang baik untuk lingkungan. Hasil yang diharapkan adalah peningkatan kemampuan literasi, kesadaran lingkungan, dan pengembangan karakter anak-anak dalam menghadapi tantangan global.

Abstract

This research aims to provide solutions to managers of the tourist attraction in increasing the number of tourist visits in the form of a marketing model that is cheap, easy, right on target, and can reach all elements of society without time and place limits, namely by using a social media platform. With this model, it is hoped that it can be used by the management and can further increase the number of tourist visits to Alas Kedaton. This tourist attraction has experienced problems in terms of the number of tourist visits since the Covid 19 pandemic. Until now the number of tourist visits has not returned to normal. On normal days it is still around 150 tourists, but it can increase to 800 people during the Galungan holidays. Even though the price of admission is 15,000 for children and 20,000 for adults, while foreign tourists are 30,000/person, with a low number of tourist visits, managers will still have difficulty covering their operational costs. The tourist attraction is located at Kukuh village, Marga sub-district, Tabanan district is a nature tour managed by the local village community so it is also a mainstay for villagers who work in this tourist attraction. Some of them work in the managerial field and some are souvenir traders who also serve as guides at the tourist attraction. Souvenir sellers at these attractions are also given the opportunity to become local tour guides at these attractions without asking for payment, but at the same time, they can offer their wares to the tourists they guide. While the tourism products offered by the Alas Kedaton tourist attraction are closely related to the preservation of nature and animals. This is perfect for educational tours. That way the market for this tourist attraction is actually very broad, especially for school children, students, teachers, lecturers, and other environmental observer communities. To create a social media platform-based marketing model, primary and secondary data will be sought. Primary data was obtained by conducting interviews with the object manager and secondary data was obtained from offline and online library sources. The data was then reduced, described, categorized and concluded, and analyzed using a qualitative descriptive analysis technique.

Abstract

Toward the end of 2023, there was a massive discussion about how a group of students from varied universities in Aceh, Indonesia, forced out Rohingya refugees from their shelter. Based on this event, there was global and local news coverage about this which reflects how power dynamics are at play. The dissection of the news pieces is done following van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis. The findings hint at how the interwoven world of journalistic reports can act as the voice that challenge the multi-layered injustice and perpetual othering experienced by Rohingya refugees. We discuss and present how news pieces are produced and how the discourse about the intersectional marginalization of refugees intensifies and provokes action towards the perpetuation of injustices.

Abstract

This article discusses the adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel Matilda (1988)into the movie Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical (2022), directed by Matthew Warchus. This research focuses on the transformation of intrinsic elements, which is the plot of the novel to the movie. The transformation of the novel into the movie is classified as the telling-to-showing mode. The transformation from written text to audio-visual media involves changes such as subtractions and additions, which are influenced by the differences in the mediums of expression. The three main issues discussed in this article are (1) the transformations of the plot in the novel into the movie, (2) the ideology reflected in the works by the author and the adapter, and (3) the motives of the adapter. This research uses a comparative method with Linda Hutcheon's Theory of Adaptation and Roland Barthes's semiotics. The findings show the ideology of patriarchy by the author in the novel and the ideologies of children's education rights and feminism by the adapter in the movie. Furthermore, this study reveals the motives of the adapter, which include personal motives, as reflected in the ideological changes, and economic lure motives, demonstrating how creative and commercial factors shape the adaptation process.

Abstract

Penguatan nilai-nilai kesetaraan gender sejak dini merupakan langkah penting dalam membentuk generasi yang adil dan inklusif. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan nilai edukatif berbasis gender melalui teknik sosiodrama pada anak-anak usia 7–14 tahun di Komunitas Literasi Untukmu Si Kecil (RB-USK), Kelurahan Sumbersari, Kabupaten Jember. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pendekatan partisipatif dengan model edukasi interaktif yang terdiri atas: (1) diskusi awal bersama pengurus komunitas untuk pemetaan karakter peserta; dan (2) pelaksanaan sosialisasi dan edukasi tentang peran gender, perbedaan jenis kelamin dan gender, serta pengenalan profesi tanpa batasan gender. Materi disampaikan melalui narasi sederhana, visual edukatif, dan dialog terbuka yang dilanjutkan dengan latihan sosiodrama sebagai bentuk penguatan nilai. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya respons positif dari anak-anak terhadap konsep peran gender yang fleksibel, ditandai dengan keberanian mereka dalam menyebutkan cita-cita tanpa hambatan stereotip. Anak laki-laki dan perempuan mulai menunjukkan pemahaman bahwa pekerjaan rumah, pilihan profesi, dan hobi bukanlah hak eksklusif berdasarkan jenis kelamin. Kegiatan ini juga memperkuat kapasitas pengurus komunitas dalam mengintegrasikan pendekatan literasi berbasis gender. Disarankan agar kegiatan lanjutan dilakukan secara berkesinambungan melalui pelatihan kreatif, pementasan, dan pembuatan media belajar yang ramah anak.
