Abstract

This study is aimed to investigate the compatibility of materials in the textbook entitled "Cambridge English for Job-hunting" based on Tomlinson’s theory. The researcher used descriptive approach research as the type of the study. The data of the study were done by follows the process involved several stages, which are as follows: 1) The researcher selected an English textbook for analysis, 2) the researcher read the English textbook thoroughly, 3) the researcher carefully reviewed the content of the textbook, 4) the researcher gathered all the necessary materials from the textbook for analysis. The result of this study shows that the textbook substantially complies with Tomlinson's criteria for useful tools for language learning. It effectively engages students, builds confidence, offers appropriate information, uses actual speech, and accommodates a range of learning preferences and emotional conditions.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, learning English is increasingly important in education and careers. However, many teachers still experience difficulties in using flipcharts effectively in English classes. This research aims to find out whether the use of flipcharts can improve English learning outcomes and how to use flipcharts effectively in teaching English. This research was conducted at SMA NU Palangka Raya, where a training program was implemented to improve the quality of English learning using innovative media, including flipcharts. This program consists of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The research results show that the use of flipcharts significantly increases students' understanding and participation in learning English. This research concludes that flipcharts are an effective tool for teaching English and recommends integrating flipcharts into the curriculum to increase student participation and motivation. Further evaluation is recommended to evaluate the long-term impact of innovative media on English language learning.

Abstract

The increasing diversity in the student population presents challenges for educators in designing curricula that cater to the needs of all learners. This article explores the importance of designing curricula for diverse learners and the benefits it brings in promoting educational equity and inclusive education. It emphasizes the need to recognize and respect learners' diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles to create an environment that fosters equal opportunities and educational success. Library research was conducted to gather information on designing curriculum for diverse learners. Thorough literature searches were performed using online library catalogs, research databases, and academic journals. Relevant sources were critically evaluated for credibility and relevance to ensure reliable information.The article discusses the needs of diverse learners, the challenges in curriculum design, frameworks and models for designing curriculum, and strategies to adapt the curriculum to meet diverse learners' needs. It highlights the significance of understanding cultural backgrounds, language proficiency, learning styles, abilities, and equitable access to resources. The Universal Design for Learning framework and other models offer valuable strategies for inclusive curriculum design.
