Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal's leadership role in improving the quality of education at SMPN 4 Gunung Tuleh, a school located in a remote area with various limitations. This research approach uses ethnographic qualitative methods through in-depth interviews with the principal and several teachers. The results show that the principal's leadership plays an important role in building collaboration with various parties, such as the education office, school committee, teachers and the community. Quality improvement strategies are carried out through strengthening facilities and infrastructure, although limited, as well as learning innovations carried out by teachers. Teacher creativity in overcoming limitations, such as utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning medium and using active methods, is a supporting factor for successful learning. The conclusion from this study is that collaborative, humanist and adaptive leadership has a significant impact on improving the quality of education, even in conditions with limited resources. This study recommends the need for continuous support from various parties to strengthen the role of schools in providing quality education services

Abstract

Pengimplementasian manajemen strategi di Sekolah Al-Ihsan menyoroti aspek krusial dalam upaya mencapai tujuan pendidikan. Fokus artikel ini adalah pada dua elemen kunci: proses perencanaan strategis dan pengukuran keberhasilan implementasi strategi di lingkungan sekolah. Proses perencanaan strategis di Sekolah Al-Ihsan mencakup langkah-langkah yang komprehensif, melibatkan identifikasi kebutuhan pasar dan pengembangan produk pasar. Untuk mengukur keberhasilan strategi, sekolah menggunakan Sistem Informasi Manajemen Sekolah (SIMS) guna mengumpulkan dan menganalisis data yang diperlukan. Namun, tantangan utama muncul dalam mengatasi kekurangan tenaga kerja dan sumber daya produksi, serta menangani dorongan siswa sebagai faktor potensial yang memerlukan pengembangan lebih lanjut. Artikel ini menekankan pentingnya mengadaptasi manajemen strategi sesuai konteks sekolah dan mengidentifikasi solusi untuk mencapai tujuan pembangunan dan kelangsungan sekolah.

Abstract

Role is a dynamic aspect of position (status) if a person performs his rights and obligations according to his position then he has carried out a role. The principal as a policy maker in schools functions optimally and is able to lead schools wisely and with direction and leads to the achievement of maximum goals in order to improve the quality and quality of education in schools. This study aims to study and describe the role of school principals in improving education management in Darussalam Middle School. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research using observation techniques and also interviews with the principal of the research location. The results obtained explained that the principal had made various efforts and had improved to support the management of education in  Darussalam Middle School Efforts made related to the important role in terms of leadership and management of madrasas both for teachers, students, facilities and other school supporters. The conclusion in this study is that the role of the principal is very important in improving education management and the role of the principal must be carried out in the role of educators, managers, administrators, supervisors, leaders, innovators and motivators.
