Abstract

Character education is an effort to apply religious, moral, and ethical values to students through knowledge with the help of parents, teachers, and the community. This is very important for the formation and development of student character. Because every child has extraordinary potential from birth, but this potential must continue to be honed and socialized so that their character is fully formed and developed. Due to changes occurring in social, technological, and cultural dynamics today, character education is becoming increasingly important. This is because new challenges arise in building individuals who have strong moral, ethical, and personality principles. This research aims to explore and analyze the effectiveness of cultivating student character through intracurricular and extracurricular activities at SD Al-Ittihadiyah Laut Dendang. The type of research method used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and analysis of library literature. The results of the research show that intracurricular and extracurricular activities at SD Al-Ittihadiyah Laut Dendang are effective in instilling student character. Activities, such as learning activities, religious activities, and sports activities make a significant contribution to the formation of student character, such as honesty, discipline, cooperation, and responsibility. The implication of this research is how important it is to develop intracurricular and extracurricular activity programs that focus on cultivating student character in elementary schools.

Abstract

Pendidikan dasar memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk fondasi bagi perkembangan akademik dan karakter anak-anak. Pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan di Huta Tanjung Anom, Nagori Mancuk, Kecamatan Huta Bayu Raja, Kabupaten Simalungun menunjukkan bahwa kualitas pendidikan dasar masih menjadi tantangan besar. Dengan itu, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini memiliki fokus untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di kalangan anak sekolah dasar melalui program “Sore Belajar”. Program ini muncul sebagai respons terhadap rendahnya kualitas literasi dan keterampilan belajar anak-anak di Huta Tanjung Anom yang berdampak negatif pada prestasi akademik mereka. Tujuan utama kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan literasi yakni: membaca, menulis, menghitung dan berpikir kritis anak-anak melalui metode pengajaran yang interaktif dan menyenangkan. Metode dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan metode Participatory Action Research. Metode Participatory Action Research terdiri dari lima tahapan, yaitu: sosialisasi awal, pemetaan sosial, perencanaan partisipatif, pelaksanaan aksi dan monitoring evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat melalui program Sore Belajar dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan anak pada tingkat sekolah dasar diberikan bobot, yaitu: sedang dan tinggi. Dengan kata lain menunjukkan bahwa program Sore Belajar dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan anak di Huta Tanjung Anom terutama dalam kegiatan literasi. Demikian, program ini mendapatkan apresiasi dari kepala desa, masyarakat dan anak-anak di Huta Tanjung Anom.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the developmental characteristics of 12-year-old students through a case study of a student named Fanny Azizah. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method, with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that Fanny's physical development is in the good category, characterized by strong physical stamina, stable motor coordination, and fine motor skills that support learning activities. In the cognitive aspect, Fanny entered the early formal operational stage according to Piaget's theory, characterized by the ability to understand cause-effect relationships, draw simple conclusions, and learn effectively using visual media. Psychomotor development also developed optimally, seen from her agility of movement, neat writing skills, and accuracy in school assignments. From a social perspective, Fanny demonstrated the ability to adapt, cooperate, build positive relationships, and have high empathy towards peers. Emotional development is in the fairly stable category, Fanny is able to express and manage emotions, although still sensitive to criticism and requires support from parents and teachers. Overall, the study concluded that Fanny's development in all aspects is at an optimal stage and requires ongoing support from both the family and school environment to support her readiness for early adolescence.
