Abstract

Acute exacerbation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by increased production and accumulation of mucus which aggravates clinical symptoms. One of interventions well-known effectively overcoming airway clearance problem is active cycle of breathing technique. The aim of implementing evidence-based nursing practice was to determine the effectiveness of the active cycle of breathing technique on sputum production in COPD patients. The search for evidence was carried out by PICO (problem, intervention, comparison, and outcome) analysis. 18 COPD inpatients and outpatients were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and were given the intervention. Sputum production was measured before and after it. The data analysis was carried out using Wilcoxon with a p value of 0.014 which showed that there was a difference in the amount of sputum production before and after the intervention. The researchers concluded that active cycle of breathing technique is an effective intervention in overcoming airway clearance problems in COPD patients.

Abstract

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior in adolescents tends to increase. This is caused by several factors, one of which is low knowledge about sexual behavior. Knowledge in adolescents is one of the duties of parents. Therefore, communication between parents and adolescents is important. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental communication and knowledge about sexual behavior in adolescents. The research method used is a descriptive correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study is adolescents aged 12-15 years living at home with their parents. The number of samples was 114 The research instrument used a knowledge questionnaire and FARBCS. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis with bivariate analysis using the Spearman rank test. The results showed that 51.8% of the 114 respondents had adequate knowledge and 88.6% of respondents had open communication. The results of the correlation test showed a p-value of 0.884. The conclusion from this study is that there is no relationship between parental communication and knowledge about sexual behavior in adolescents. It is hoped that future researchers will examine the factors that influence knowledge about sexual behavior.

Abstract

Background: Acute exacerbations are a major cause of poor outcomes in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). However, attention to early recognition of acute exacerbation symptoms has been limited to FEV1 (Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second). COPD is a complex disease that involves many dimensions, so early symptom recognition requires a more comprehensive multidimensional assessment. This study is a retrospective cohort study to develop a multidimensional index model in assessing the prognosis of exacerbations in COPD patients. Objectives: This study aims to find a comprehensive index model in the early assessment of exacerbations to reduce mortality and morbidity in COPD patients. Methods: This study is a retrospective cohort study by conducting non-interventional observations. A total of 28 COPD patients based on GOLD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease) criteria were included as respondents. Results: The Cox Regression survival analysis for the quartiles showed a significant effect of this multidimensional index on predict exacerbation prognosis. Conclusion: The BODEX + sPO2 provided an adequate match between predicted and observed exacerbation prognosis in COPD.

Abstract

Introduction: intra-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) is a life-threatening event requiring rapid and coordinated responses through a hospital emergency system known as code blue. Nurses are often the first responders, and their readiness directly affects patients’ survival outcomes. Multiple organizational, psychological, training, and practical skill factors may influence this readiness. Objective: this study aimed to examine the factors influencing nurses’ readiness in responding to code blue calls, focusing on organizational support, psychological conditions, training and simulation, and practical skills. Methods: quantitative analytic-descriptive design was applied among nurses assigned to the code blue team. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and analyzed with logistic regression to determine the relationship between independent variables and nurse readiness. Result: The logistic regression model showed strong explanatory power (R=0,881; R2=0,776) indicating that 77,6% of variance in readiness could be explained by the independent variables. Organizational factors had a statistically significant associated with readiness
