Abstract

Research on the formulation and physical stability test of 96% ethanol extract serum preparations from avocado seeds (Persea americana Mill). This study aimed to evaluate the physical stability of several serum preparation formulations of avocado seed ethanol extract with different concentrations. The research method was 5 kg of avocado seeds). Experimental research to determine whether 96% ethanol extract of avocado seeds using three concentrations, namely 5%, 7.5% and 10%, could be formulated into a facial serum preparation. This research used a physical stability test method for serum preparations used the cycling test method, which includes organoleptic tests, pH tests, homogeneity tests, viscosity tests, spreadability tests and adhesion tests. The results showed that the secondary metabolite compounds contained in the 96% ethanol extract of avocado seeds were alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids or triterpenoids; 96% ethanol extract of avocado seeds could be formulated as a serum preparation, and the stability test results of all serum preparation formulations had good standards for organoleptics, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability and adhesiveness. The F2 serum preparation (glycerin concentration 7.5%) experienced small changed, so the stability of the F2 serum preparation was better than other preparations. Ethanol extract of avocado seeds could be made into a serum formulation, F2 formulation which had the best physical stability.

Abstract

Orange peel essential oil and basil leaf extract are known as natural ingredients that contain medicinal ingredients. The extracts of these two plants are useful as antibacterials. The aims of this research are to determine the antibacterial activity of facial soap containing the active ingredients orange peel essential oil and basil leaf extract. The methods studied include organoleptic properties, pH value, foam height, free alkali content, specific gravity and antibacterial activity. The type of research used is experimental research. Data collection was carried out by measuring, while data analysis was descriptive and analytical. The research design used was a post-test only control design. Conclusions include the preparation of facial cleansing soap with a combination of orange peel essential oil and basil leaf extract which meets SNI requirements which is classified as an inhibitory bacterial work zone but the most optimal is F3, there are differences in the diameter of the inhibitory zone for the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in facial cleansing soap with a combination of active ingredients. orange peel essential oil and basil leaf extract. Keywords:          facial cleansing soap, orange peel essential oil, basil leaf extract   Abstrak Minyak atsiri kulit jeruk dan ekstrak daun kemangi dikenal sebagai bahan alami yang mengandung bahan obat. Ekstrak kedua tumbuhan ini bermanfaat sebagai antibakteri. Abstract

Abstract

With the aging population increasing worldwide, attention to the safety of drug use in geriatric patients is becoming increasingly important. Through a better understanding of the role of clinical pharmacy in this context, it is hoped that more effective strategies can be found to improve the quality of drug care for the geriatric population, thereby providing maximum benefits for patients' health and quality of life. Thus, the aim of this literature observation is to dig deeper into the role of clinical pharmacy in improving the safety of drug use in geriatric patients (Javier, 2023). The aim of exploring relevant literature, we can innovate approaches that have been proven effective, as well as identify challenges and opportunities in optimizing the role of clinical pharmacy in the care of geriatric patients (Annisa, 2012), adjusting doses based on physiological factors related to age, and providing education to patients and families about the correct use of drugs (Sari, 2015). Literature studies suggest that clinical pharmacy interventions, such as thorough medication review, drug counseling, and identification of potential drug interactions, can reduce the risk of side effects and increase patient compliance with drug therapy. Apart from that, health team collaboration between clinical pharmacists, doctors and nurses is also an important factor in ensuring the safe use of drugs in geriatric patients (Karnova, 2020).
