Abstract

The research aims to describe Newman's errors in rectangular contextual mathematics problems for students at SMP N 10 Kotabumi. This type of qualitative research is a descriptive case study. Sampling used snowball sampling which then selected 2 students who were grouped into high, medium, and low categories. Data collection techniques use tests and interviews. The instrument is a contextual rectangular test and an interview guide. The results of this research are 1) Students in the high category tend to make errors in the transformation, solving process, and determining the final answer. However, one of the students in the high category made an error in understanding because he made a mistake in determining what was known and was asked, 2) students in the medium category tended to make errors in understanding, transformation, the completion process, and determining the final answer. However, one of the medium category students made a reading error because they read the question incorrectly so it was included in the indicator of not being able to extract keywords and important information from the question, and 3) students in the low category tended to make errors in understanding, transformation, completion process, and determining the final answer. However, one of the low-category students made a reading error because the student did not understand the question he was reading. Reading errors can be seen when students incorrectly determine what is known (field size) and ask questions, make incorrect formulas, and calculate incorrectly

Abstract

The fact of the problem of low critical thinking skills of students is 65.49% in accordance with the provisions of the KKM which is 70. In addition, from the results of observations obtained students are less able to analyze ideas to solve a problem. In addition, students are reluctant to do practice questions that would enable students to be competent in determining strategies and conclusions in solving questions. One of the models indicated as being able to overcome the problem of low critical thinking skills in statistical material is the TPS Model. The study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the TPS model on the critical thinking skills of statistical material for class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kotabumi, North Lampung in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This research method is quantitative experimental with a quasi-experimental design. The form of quasi-experimental chosen is nonequivalent control group design. Then samples were taken from two classes, namely one class VII D for the experimental class using the TPS model and one class VII C using the model commonly used by teachers. The results of data analysis using the t-test, obtained tcount = 3.102 and ttable 1.990 then tcount> ttable so that H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted. This means that there is an influence of the TPS model on the critical thinking skills of statistical material for class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kotabumi

Abstract

Public speaking is an essential part of communication skills that are not easily mastered by everyone. Anxiety about speaking in public often hinders individuals from developing. The negative impacts can be seen from the physical and emotional health disorders they experience. Lack of confidence when speaking in public is also experienced by students of MAN 2 North Lampung. The right solution is to hold public speaking training that can build students' confidence in speaking in public. The approach is a sequence of training sessions that are precisely and clearly organized within a given time period, tailored to the organizer's time and location available. The activity's outcomes demonstrate that a large number of high school students are interested in public speaking, and we can observe that each student has good potential when it comes to public speaking practice. The inference that may be made is that public speaking abilities are fundamental and should be had by everyone, particularly high school pupils who will find them valuable in the future.

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes student perceptions regarding the design of Virtual Reality (VR)-based mathematics worksheets, aimed at mitigating affective, cognitive, and media-related disparities inherent in conventional intruction. It addresessed a critical literature gap by identifying user-centered design parameters for immersive technology specifically tailored for secondary education. Methodology: Employing a qualitative approach, the research involved six students from MAN 1 North Lampung, selected through stratified sampling based on cognitive proficiency levels. Data were gathered via semi-structured interviews and subjected to rigorous analysis using the Miles and Huberman interactive model to ensure interpretative validity. Findings: The findings confirm highly positive student perceptions and establish three fundamental design pilar: contextual narrative, gamification mecchanisms, and a moderate task volume (5-10 items). These elements function as catalyst for matematical literacy by enhancing  students’ capacity to interpret visual information and fostering active learning engagement. Practical implications: These result provide a strategic benchmark for educators and curriculum  designers to transform static instructional materials into immersive, adaptive media aligned with the cognitif and behavioral characteristics of the digital generation. Originality/value: The primary significance of this research lies in the proposal of a tripartite solution framework (affective-cognitive-media) through VR integration, providing empirical evidence that immersive technology can spesificcally circumvent contextual and motivational berriers in mathematics educcation.
