Abstract

Technological advances have made lifestyle transformation. On teenagers, using smartphones and the pocket money that can affect of food intake. Based on the World Health Organization in 2018, adolescents in the world who are obese have increased tenfold in the last 40 years. Meanwhile, the prevalence of overweight (5-19 years) in 2016 reached 216 million children. The purpose of the study is to analyze the relationship between smartphone ownership and pocket money on the incidence of obesity in adolescents. This study was carried out at SMP Pembangunan Padang with a research population of class VII and VII students as many as 90 people and as many as 37 people as a research sample.  This study uses a cross-sectional study approach. Samples were taken by random sampling where anthropometric data were processed using the WHO Anthro Plus application and the statistical analysis used was the chi square test with a confidence level of 95% (α = 0.05) and Odds Ratio (OR). The results of the chi square test showed that smartphone ownership was associated with obesity (p-value = 0.03) and OR 4.47, while pocket money was associated with obesity (p-value = 0.00) and OR 2.37. The conclusion of this study is that smartphone ownership and pocket money are associated with the incidence of obesity in adolescents.

Abstract

There are many changes that occur in adolescence. One of the most prominent is the occurrence of menstruation in adolescents. Menstruation is generally accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and hips. At Senior High School (SHS) 9 Padang, it was found that 76.4% of young women experienced menstrual pain. The scale of menstrual pain varies in intensity for each person. One thing that influences menstrual pain is Body Mass Index (BMI). Therefore, it necessary to analyze there was a relationship between BMI and the menstrual pain scale. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. The population was all female adolescents at SHS 9 Padang with a total sample 79 people taken by multistage random sampling. Data analysis used the chi square test using SPSS. The results showed that 71.4% of adolecents with an underweight BMI had a moderate menstrual pain scale and 37.1% an overweight BMI had a heavy menstrual pain scale. There is a relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and the menstrual pain scale in adolescents at Senior High School 9 Padang (p=0.00).

Abstract

Background: Stunting has become a health problem in developing countries such as Indonesia. This can provide an effect on body composition, decreasing albumin levels and immunity status. Patin fish is well-known to have a high level of protein concentration and has a positive-effect on stunting. Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the nutrient compound of Patin fish protein concentrate. Methods: The research method used is experimental laboratories. The test was carried out by Association of Official Agricultural Chemists method (AOAC) 2012. Results: The results showed that Patin Fish Protein Concentrate have high protein contain. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to gather scientific evidence regarding the effects of height protein intake on improving nutritional status, linear growth, and health outcomes in children with stunting. The literature review findings indicate that Patin Fish protein concentrate holds promise as a good protein source in enhancing the nutritional status and growth of stunting children. Additionally, Patin Fish protein concentrate may provide supplementary benefits in increasing intake of omega-3 fatty acids crucial for brain development and cognitive function in children. Conclusion: However, further experimental research is warranted to validate the findings of this literature review and assess the potential of Patin Fish protein concentrate in nutritional intervention programs for effectively addressing stunting.

Abstract

Children with low birth weight have a higher risk of death in the first month of life, experience growth disorders, developmental delays, lower IQ levels, and increase the risk of developing degenerative diseases in old age. This study aims to determine the relationship between ANC visit and the incidence of LBW in Babakan Madang District, Bogor Regency in 2019. The research design used was cross-sectional. This study used secondary data obtained from the PITTA B umbrella research in 2019. The results showed that 5.8% of children experienced LBW in Babakan Madang District in 2019. The proportion of LBW incidence was greater in mothers who did not had an ANC visit (11.6%) compared to mothers who had an ANC visit. (5.6%). The results of the chi-square analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between ANC visit and the incidence of LBW (p = 0.277). The researcher suggested that the Bogor Regency Health Office be able to improve LBW prevention interventions, such as improving the quality of antenatal care, and educating pregnant women about the importance of antenatal care.

Abstract

Kualitas asupan gizi anak usia dini berperan penting dalam mendukung tumbuh kembang optimal, terutama selama masa kritis perkembangan fisik dan kognitif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola asupan gizi anak usia dini di PAUD Sejahtera Bersama Kota Padang tahun 2024. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam dengan orang tua atau wali murid menggunakan SQ-FFQ serta analisis menu makanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi makanan yang disajikan belum sepenuhnya memenuhi standar gizi seimbang. Anak-anak cenderung mengkonsumsi makanan tinggi karbohidrat seperti nasi dan mie, namun rendah protein, sayuran, dan buah-buahan. Kondisi ini meningkatkan risiko defisiensi zat gizi seperti vitamin, mineral, dan protein yang berdampak negatif pada pertumbuhan fisik dan perkembangan kognitif. Faktor utama yang mempengaruhi kondisi ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman pendidik dan orang tua mengenai pentingnya pola makan bergizi seimbang serta keterbatasan variasi bahan makanan yang tersedia. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini, penelitian merekomendasikan pemberian edukasi gizi secara berkelanjutan kepada pendidik dan orang tua, serta diversifikasi menu makanan di PAUD dengan menambah porsi protein, sayuran, dan buah-buahan. Selain itu, kolaborasi antara pihak PAUD dan komunitas lokal dapat membantu meningkatkan ketersediaan bahan makanan bergizi. Upaya ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas asupan gizi anak-anak di PAUD Sejahtera Bersama sehingga mendukung pertumbuhan fisik dan perkembangan kognitif secara optimal. Masa usia dini merupakan periode krusial yang sangat menentukan pembentukan potensi anak di masa depan. Oleh karena itu, peningkatan kualitas gizi anak usia dini menjadi salah satu langkah strategis untuk menciptakan generasi yang sehat dan cerdas.

Abstract

Artikel ini menganalisis dampak pembangunan pertanian dalam ketahanan pangan dan Gizi keluarga berbasis kearifan lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode SLR, yaitu dengan mengumpulkan berbagai data terkait pembangunan pertanian dalam konteks ketahanan pangan dan gizi keluarga yang berbasis kearifan lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembangunan pertanian berfokus pada pemberdayaan manusia, dukungan finansial, pola kerjasama, dan satu wilayah satu produk (onevillage one product) bertujuan untuk kesejahteraan masyarakat. Peran petani sebagai salah satu pemangku kepentingan dalam proses pembangunan di pedesaan tidak boleh diremehkan. Partisipasi yang dimaksud melibatkan petani dalam mengidentifikasi masalah, merancang solusi, serta mengevaluasi pelaksanaan program pembangunan. Ketahanan pangan hendaknya mencapai 4 bagian yang hendak dipenuhi, yaitu: pertama, cukupnya persediaan bahan pangan, kedua, stabilitas bahan pangan tanpa adanya fluktuasi dari musim ke musim atau dari tahun ke tahun, ketiga, aksesibilitas bahan pangan, serta keempat, mutu/amannya bahan pangan yang dipakai. Status gizi (nutritional status) adalah outcome ketahanan pangan yang adalah cerminan kualitas hidup seseorang. Peran dan fungsi kearifan lokal sangat berpengaruh terhadap keberhasilan pemberdayaan serta peningkatan peran, fungsi, dan kinerja lembaga pertanian.

Abstract

Background: Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) is one of the leading causes of perinatal morbidity and mortality, particularly among vulnerable populations. Ferritin reflects iron storage and has the potential to serve as a predictive biomarker for IUGR, while socio-cultural factors influence maternal nutritional status and antenatal health behaviors.Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between ferritin levels and IUGR among pregnant women in the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community, and to explore the socio-cultural context that affects iron status and fetal growth.Methods: A mixed-methods study was conducted from July to August 2025 among 31 pregnant women from the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community in Tebo Regency, Jambi. Quantitative data were obtained through ferritin measurement using a Ferritin Rapid Test from capillary blood, while IUGR was identified based on fundal height, abdominal girth, and fetal heart rate. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations focusing on dietary practices, cultural beliefs, and access to health services.Results: Nineteen respondents (61,3%) had low ferritin levels (<15 ng/mL), and eight (25,8%) were categorized as having IUGR. Low ferritin levels were significantly associated with IUGR (p=0,02; OR=5,3; 95% CI: 1,1–24,5). Qualitative findings revealed limited dietary diversity, dependence on forest-based foods, and cultural practices that restricted antenatal care access, which indirectly increased the risk of IUGR.Conclusion: Low ferritin levels were significantly associated with an increased risk of IUGR, and socio-cultural factors exacerbated this condition through their influence on maternal nutrition and health behaviors among SAD pregnant women. Integrating simple ferritin screening with an understanding of the socio-cultural context may serve as an effective strategy for early screening and prevention in remote areas.
