Abstract

Batik Gedog, a traditional craft from Tuban Regency, is rich in local wisdom, particularly in its unique manufacturing processes, motifs, and colors. This study aims to analyze the concepts of heat and temperature involved in creating Batik Gedog, demonstrating its potential as a contextual learning medium for teaching these concepts. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing ethnographic methods to gather insights. Purposive sampling was employed to select Batik Gedog craftsmen with comprehensive knowledge of the Batik-making process. Data collection involved interviews with two craftsmen from Kerek District, Tuban Regency, and a review of relevant literature. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal the presence of heat transfer mechanisms—conduction, convection, and radiation—during the Batik-making process, alongside the phase change of Batik wax from solid to liquid through heating. These results underscore the relevance of heat and temperature concepts in the traditional practice of making Batik Gedog.

Abstract

Composting is one way of making organic waste into a new product in the form of humus made from organic waste from plant and animal waste. This research was carried out in July-November 2023 at the final disposal site (TPA) in Pucuk Village, Mojokerto. The aim of this research is to analyze the benefits and content of C-Organic in solid organic fertilizer from spinach waste. The research method was carried out by measuring and analyzing the C-Organic content in fertilizer using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results obtained from research testing the C-Organic content of 6.5% are still relatively low, and do not meet the quality standards of SNI 7763:2018 and Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 261/KPTS/ SR.310/M/4/2019 which states C-organic content of at least 15%.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan peserta didik dalam menyusun argumentasi ilmiah menunjukkan diperlukan inovasi pembelajaran yang lebih mendorong pemikiran kritis dan ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh model Modified Free Inquiry (MFI) pendekatan Science Writing Heuristic (SWH) terhadap kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah pada materi Hukum Gas Ideal. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif desain true-experimental pretest-posttest control group dengan tambahan satu kelas replikasi. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 101 peserta didik semester genap tahun ajaran 2024/2025 di salah satu SMA Negeri Surabaya dipilih melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) Uji-t berpasangan menginterpretasikan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara nilai pretest-posttest; (2) Skor N-gain menginterpretasikan kelompok eksperimen dan replikasi memperoleh kategori sedang pada semua komponen argumentasi ilmiah; serta (3) Uji Post-Hoc dalam ANOVA menginterpretasikan kelompok kontrol memiliki perbedaan skor N-gain yang signifikan dengan kelompok eksperimen dan replikasi. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model MFI dengan pendekatan SWH dapat meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah peserta didik.
