Abstract

Asphalt concrete as a material for road construction has long been known and is widely used in road construction. This research analysis is to evaluate the effect of adding sulfur to AC-WC asphalt on Marshall stability and fatigue values. Marshall stability and fatigue are key parameters in evaluating asphalt mix quality. Marshall fatigue measures a mixture's ability to overcome fatigue under repeated loading. The initial stage of the research, which was carried out in the engineering laboratory at the Islamic University of North Sumatra, was collecting data and checking the quality of the asphalt material and the quality of the aggregate that would be used in the mixture experiment. The asphalt used consists of oil asphalt, oil asphalt is taken from PT. Adhi Karya Patumbakk, Deli Serdang. The asphalt used in this research was Pertamina asphalt with penetration 60/70 and Esso asphalt with penetration 60/70.1. For a 5% variation, the Stability value was 162 kg, Bulk Density 2.20 gr/cc, flow 2.40 mm, VFA 62.67%, VIM 1.68%, and VMA 16.34%. 2. For a variation of 7%, the Stability value is 175 kg, Bulk Density 2.22 gr/cc, flow 2.61 mm, VFA 75.10%, VIM 1.47%, and VMA 16.36%. 3. For a variation of 9%, Stability is 192 kg, Bulk Density is 2.25 gr/cc, flow is 3.44 mm, VFA is 91.72%, VIM is 2.16%, and VMA is 15.70%. 4. For the Normal variation, you get Stability 204 kg, Bulk Density 2.23 gr/cc, flow 3.60 mm, VFA 71.47%, VIM 3.46%, and VMA 16.99%. 1. From testing the marshall characteristics of the LASTON AC-WC mixture which uses sulfur as an added ingredient with variations of 5%, 7% and 9% with reference to the Bina Marga standard specifications, 2018.

Abstract

The School Safety Zone (ZoSS) is designed to prevent accidents involving students when going to and from school. This research aims to determine the effect of inappropriate design and placement of markings and signs on ZoSS facilities based on visual observations of the speed of passing vehicles, crossing safety, and the level of conformity of ZoSS at the Alkaffah Binjai Waqf Foundation with established standards. The method used is to compare the results of field studies with the Directorate General of Land Transportation Standards, as well as using normal distribution statistical analysis (Z test). This research found that the DS value of the road is 0.45, which indicates that the road has a type C road service level. Speed the average number of vehicles passing on Jalan LetJend Jamin Ginting at the Alkaffah Binjai Wakaf Foundation ZoSS is: In the morning 35.44 km/hour (direction Binjai-Tanah Seribu) and 34.53 km/hour (direction Tanah Seribu-Binjai); In the afternoon 36.44 km/hour (direction Binjai-Tanah Seribu) and 38.91 km/hour (direction Tanah Seribu-Binjai). This speed still exceeds the permitted speed limit, namely 30 km/hour. The Z Test analysis of the characteristics of the waders in ZoSS shows that the calculated Z value (2.170) is greater than the Z table, which concludes that the waders in ZoSS are quite safe. However, the results of field observations showed that the signs were incomplete, their position was incorrect, and the road markings were damaged. These findings indicate that the ZoSS design in the field is not fully in accordance with the Directorate of Land Transportation Standards so it needs to be redesigned. The output of this research is a proposal to redesign ZoSS at the Alkaffah Binjai Waqf Foundation to be more in line with standards and improve safety for pedestrians, especially school students.

Abstract

A traffic accident event is very diverse both in terms of the process of occurrence and the level of accident. The number of accidents that occurred on the Jendral Sudirman road, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, resulted in many losses. On this basis, it is necessary to analyze the accident rate against the high number of accidents so that the accident rate can be known. The research method used in this research is a combined method which uses primary data and secondary data. Data from the Torgamba District Police, from 2019 to 2023, there were 378 traffic accident victims. Results of the percentage analysis of accident rates in the last 5 years, Light Injury (LR) victims were the highest in the accident rate with a percentage value of 62.17% with a total of 235 accident victims, then the number of Serious Injury (LB) victims was 25.93% with the number of victims was 98 accident victims, and the death toll (MD) was 11.9% with the number of victims being 45 accident victims. The results of the correlation coefficient analysis using SPSS to determine the correlation coefficient value for the accident level, it was obtained that the highest Pearson correlation value was found in victims of minor injuries. (LR) is (r) 0.920, which means it is perfectly correlated, with a significance value of 0.027, which means it has a significant relationship with the number of accident victims. Efforts that can be made to reduce the number of accidents are: providing education about traffic and strict sanctions to road users who violate traffic regulations and the installation of traffic signs must be in accordance with Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number 61 1993 concerning Traffic Signs

Abstract

The Islamic University of North Sumatra (UISU) aims to become increasingly recognized as a top-quality higher education institution, even internationally. This is evident in the ongoing collaborations between the UISU Faculty of Engineering and several educational institutions abroad, particularly in Southeast Asian countries like Thailand and Malaysia. The Faculty of Engineering is currently collaborating with the Saengtham Wittaya School Foundation in Trang, Thailand, for a Sociopreneurship-Based Business Development program for SMSEs in Trang, Thailand. This partnership is a positive step for UISU, as it embodies its vision and mission to expand its reach and become better known internationally. This collaboration is part of the International Mobility of Academics (IMA) program implemented by the ADA Research Center, and is being followed up by the Foundation Saengtham Wittaya School to establish a partnership. This collaboration is expected to benefit all parties, as it discusses many positive aspects for the advancement of education both at home and abroad. The quality and capacity possessed by UISU is believed to be one of the reasons why foreign educational institutions are willing to collaborate with UISU for educational development. The Saengtham Wittaya School Foundation in Thailand chose UISU because it is an Islamic educational institution with a track record of producing high-quality graduates with noble morals, established in 1951. Furthermore, it aims to develop UISU as a higher education institution capable of producing many high-quality individuals in the world of education. The collaboration between UISU and the Saengtham Wittaya School Trang Thailand Foundation will be carried out in the form of collaborative research, community service, journals and development between researchers, institutions, organizations and agencies, including Harapan University Medan, Cendana Polytechnic, Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra, and the Terrorism Prevention Coordination Forum (FKPT).

Abstract

The city of Medan has experienced very rapid development from year to year, this has resulted in the increasingly dense traffic flow in the city. And one of the roads that experience congestion due to parking on the road body and affect the performance of road sections and is also the location of research, namely on Jalan Sutomo. Data collection techniques include survey data of traffic volume, parking volume, road section capacity and V/C ratio value. The data obtained were analyzed using the 1997 Indonesian Road Capacity Manual regulations. The traffic volume with side obstacles (H) was 504 events / hour, the road capacity before there was on street parking 6665.5 smp/hour and the road capacity after there was on street parking 4795.1 smp/hour. There is a fairly high increase due to vehicle parking activities on the road body in a very. The highest traffic density on Fridays occurs in the time interval 12.00 - 13.00. The level of road service before there is on street parking is up to level C, where the value of the V/C Ratio reaches 0.60. As for the level of road servants after on-street parking is up to level D, where the V/C Ratio value reaches 0.84, with an average speed of 44.1 km/h. With these conditions, if not handled immediately, it will affect traffic performance.

Abstract

Gerbang tol Marelan di jalan Veteran Pasar 7 di simpang gerbang tol, dan besarnya volume kendaraan di simpang tersebut, ditambah adanya kendaraan yang masuk dan keluar gerbang tol yang membuat konflik sehingga terjadi tundaan yang bisa mengakibatkan kemacetan terutama di jam-jam sibuk. Beberapa faktor pendukung terjadinya kemacetan, yaitu padatnya kendaraan, bertambahnya jumlah penduduk dan kebutuhan akan sarana transportasi, kendaraan yang berhenti/parkir, dan kendaraan tak bermotor. Untuk menganalisanya menggunakan metode Manual Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia 1997 dan Pedoman Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia 2014 untuk mendapatkan kinerja ruas jalan dan kinerja simpang. Pengambilan data di lapangan dilakukan 3 hari Senin, Rabu, dan Sabtu. Hasil analisa data yang diperoleh, untuk kinerja simpang dengan MKJI 1997 dan PKJI 2014 untuk 3 hari di dapat tingkat pelayanan (LOS) adalah F karena derajat kejenuhannya lebih dari 1,0 yaitu DS/DJ: 1,19-1,22 dan untuk tundaan (D/T): 38,04-46,32 det per smp/skr. Untuk kinerja ruas jalan dengan MKJI 1997 dan PKJI 2014 untuk 3 hari hasilnya pendekat ( B ) tingkat pelayanan (LOS) adalah C karena derajat kejenuhan (DS/DJ): 0,51-0,55 dan tundaan (D/T): 261,16-296,2 det per smp/skr, untuk pendekat ( D ) tingkat pelayanan (LOS) adalah C karena derajat kejenuhan (DS/DJ): 0,54-0,64 dan tundaan (D/T): 96,37-139,7 det per smp/skr, untuk pendekat ( C ) tingkat pelayanan (LOS) adalah A karena derajat kejenuhan (DS/DJ): 0,034-0,4 dan tundaan (D/T): 779,76-844,05 det per smp/skr.Kedua metode tersebut memberikan hasil nilai kinerja yang sama sehingga kinerja simpang tersebut bermasalah dan kinerja ruas jalan tersebut masih stabil dan baik.

Abstract

Jalan Tengku Muhammad Luddin merupakan jalan arteri primer dengan tipe lajur 2/2 UD yang merupakan kawasan ekonomi yang menyebabkan volume lalu lintas semakin besar sehingga mengakibatkan kinerja ruas jalan menjadi berkurang. Studi pada penelitian ini dilakukan pada ruas jalan Tengku Muhammad Luddin mulai dari simpang tiga Pengkala sampai dengan SPBU Pengkala sepanjang 500 m selama 2 hari mulai pukul 08.00 – 18.00 WIB yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kapasitas di jalan tersebut dengan model yang digunakan adalah model Greenshield, Greenberg dan Underwood serta analisis data menggunakan MKJI 1997 untuk mengetahui kinerja ruas jalan tersebut. Dari hasil pemodelan didapat nilai determinasi (R2) tertinggi pada pemodelan Greenberg dengan nilai R2 = 0,7829, Greenshield R2 = 0,7251 dan Underwood R2 = 0,7521. Model yang paling baik untuk menggambarkan kepadatan pada saat macet (Dj) adalah Model Greenberg karena nilai determinasi R2 yang paling mendekati angka 1 adalah model Greenberg. Kecepatan rata-rata lalu lintas tertinggi terdapat pada hari senin sore yaitu pukul 17.00 – 18.00 sebesar 28.93 km/jam. Kepadatan lalu-lintas tertinggi pada jam Puncak terjadi pada hari Selasa, 15 November 2022 yaitu sebesar 63.20 smp/km pada kisaran jam 13.00 – 14.00 WIB. Untuk perhitungan menggunakan MKJI 1997 didapat nilai kapasitas (Vm) = 2770,69 smp/jam. Dengan nilai LOS DS = 0,55 dengan tingkat pelayanan digolongkan pada tingkat pelayanan golongan A yaitu arus lancer, volume rendah, kecepatan tinggi.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah organik di wilayah perdesaan kerap terabaikan akibat rendahnya literasi pengelolaan limbah domestik, termasuk di Desa Kedai Durian. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi pengomposan masyarakat melalui pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) untuk mendorong reduksi sampah di sumbernya. Metode pelaksanaan melibatkan 40 partisipan melalui tahapan diagnosis masalah, perencanaan aksi, intervensi teknis pengomposan aerob, serta observasi dan evaluasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan pre-test, post-test, dan observasi partisipatif untuk menilai perubahan pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan skor literasi lingkungan sebesar 65%, dari dominan pemahaman konseptual menjadi penguasaan keterampilan teknis produksi kompos. Secara kuantitatif, program mampu mereduksi rata-rata 120 kg sampah organik rumah tangga per minggu yang diolah menjadi kompos layak guna. Keterlibatan aktif warga dalam seluruh siklus kegiatan memperkuat rasa kepemilikan dan konsistensi praktik pengelolaan sampah. Disimpulkan bahwa literasi pengomposan berbasis partisipatif efektif mengubah paradigma masyarakat dari membuang limbah menjadi mengelola sumber daya. Untuk keberlanjutan, direkomendasikan integrasi unit pengomposan dengan Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes) agar manfaat ekologis dan ekonomi dapat dipertahankan.
