Abstract

The easy access to food additives in Central Cimahi has made a number of traders add additives to food sold for consumption in order to increase profits. On the other hand, the use of inappropriate food additives can damage health. Formalin, borax and Rhodamine B dye are chemical compounds that provide many benefits to life, borax is useful for preserving wood and cleaning agents, while formalin is a preservative for corpses and is carcinogenic which can trigger cancer if consumed. Meanwhile, Rhodamine B dye is actually used for textile dyes. Therefore, these chemicals are prohibited for consumption. If this compound is consumed, it will become very dangerous and deadly. Nowadays, street food is loved by many people and there are even cases of fraudulent sellers by adding borax, formalin and Rhodamine B. This study aims to review the literature to prove whether there are snack foods that contain formalin, borax and Rhodamine B which can harm human health and provide knowledge to the public about the dangers of these chemicals and how to sort healthy foods and avoid the following substances.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Helminth infections are common among elementary school children in areas with poor sanitation, often resulting in anemia, growth disorders, and weakened immunity. A lack of awareness about personal hygiene, particularly nail cleanliness, contributes significantly to this problem. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Manicare program, an educational intervention designed to improve students’ awareness and practices regarding nail hygiene. Methods: . A quantitative experimental design was used, involving 76 students from SD Negeri Linggabudi, Cimahi, selected through purposive sampling based on the presence of long and dirty nails. Nail samples were examined in the laboratory before and after the Manicare intervention, and students’ awareness of nail hygiene was assessed through direct observation. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test Results: The results of the study of 309 students showed that before the intervention, 76 students (24.6%) had long and dirty nails, while 233 students (75.4%) had short and clean nails. After the four-week intervention, all students had short and clean nails (100%). Laboratory examinations revealed that 1 student (1.3%) tested positive for helminth eggs before the intervention, whereas post-intervention results showed no helminth eggs in the examined samples. Conclusion: the Manicare program effectively improved students’ nail hygiene and may reduce the risk of helminth infections. Regular implementation of this program could serve as an effective preventive measure among elementary school children.

Abstract

Based on a 2024 ACFE survey, financial statement fraud is the type of fraud that causes the highest average loss compared to other types. Several approaches exist for predicting financial statement fraud, including the Beneish M-Score (hereafter M-Score) and Dechow F-Score (hereafter F-Score). The purpose of this study is to evaluate which model best predicts financial statement fraud in Indonesia’s energy industry. The research sample was determined using a purposive sampling method. The sample consists of 140 financial statements from energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2020 to 2024 that were indicated to be free from violations related to their financial reporting. The results reveal that the F-Score model is more effective in detecting financial statement fraud in energy companies, with a 100% accuracy rate and a 0% error rate, while the M-Score model obtained a 73% accuracy rate and a 27% error rate. This research is expected to provide implications for stakeholders in selecting the right model to predict financial statement fraud, especially in energy sector.
