Abstract

This study explores how the theory of Multiple Intelligence proposed by Howard Gardner can be effectively integrated into the teaching and learning process and the challenges faced in its implementation in various educational contexts. This study analyzes existing literature through a literature review approach to find common patterns, research gaps, and best practices in applying Multiple intelligence theory in the classroom. The literature analyzed includes journal articles, academic books, and research reports focusing on teachers' understanding of multiple intelligences, learning methods based on dual Intelligence, student responses to applying these methods, and varied and inclusive assessment systems. The study results show that although the theory of multiple intelligences has been widely recognized in education, its application still faces various challenges. Teachers' understanding of this theory is often limited, and many have been unable to adapt teaching methods to accommodate students' diverse intelligences optimally. In addition, more infrastructure and resources in schools are also needed to support kinesthetic, musical, and visual-spatial Intelligence. Nonetheless, previous research has shown that students respond positively when the learning methods used match their dominant Intelligence, which can improve their motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. This literature review concludes that a more varied and inclusive learning approach must accommodate all student intelligences. In addition, Assessment and evaluation in education must be more flexible, considering non-cognitive intelligences that have been ignored in standardized tests. This study recommends increasing teacher training, providing supporting infrastructure, and developing a curriculum more adaptive to the diversity of students' Intelligence. The results of this study make an essential contribution to enriching the understanding of applying the theory of multiple intelligences and offering solutions to the challenges faced in modern education.

Abstract

This article examines the application of Tri Hita Karana (THK) in the culture of the Hubula community of Balim Valley, Papua Highlands, emphasizing harmonious values that parallel those in Balinese Hindu society. The Hubula people incorporate the THK concept—traditionally rooted in Balinese Hindu beliefs—into key aspects of their lives, particularly in rituals related to agriculture (wen), livestock (wam), and leadership or conflict resolution (wim/ab-kain). They believe in a triadic harmony among the Creator (Walkarige), humanity, and nature (o’birige mende), which also includes maintaining balanced relationships among people (ab-kumi inom). This qualitative study explores these relationships, finding that harmony between the Creator, nature, and human society is upheld through this adapted THK framework. Unlike the theological and philosophical approach common in Abrahamic religions, the Hubula community’s relationship with the Creator is material and practical, emphasizing an interconnected, tangible approach to spirituality and social values.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of using the inquiry-based learning model on students' critical thinking skills in solving contextual mathematics problems. The inquiry-based learning model allows students to actively engage in the learning process through exploration, analysis, and problem-solving related to real-life situations. This research uses an experimental design with an experimental group treated with inquiry-based learning and a control group using conventional learning methods. Data were collected through a critical thinking skills test administered before and after the learning process (pre-test and post-test). The analysis results show that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in critical thinking skills compared to the control group. Inquiry-based learning encourages students to develop critical thinking skills in solving contextual mathematics problems, as well as enhances active student involvement and motivation in the learning process. This study recommends that the inquiry-based learning model be applied more widely in mathematics education to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the basic financial management practices applied by areca nut traders in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua. The main focus is to understand how these micro-entrepreneurs manage their business finances within the local context and limited access to information. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, direct field observation, and documentation of traders' business activities. The informants consist of six areca nut traders who have been running their businesses independently for at least one year. The results indicate that most traders do not yet manage their business finances systematically. Financial records of income and expenses are rarely kept, there is no clear separation between personal and business finances, and business profits are often immediately used for daily needs. Moreover, business risks such as product damage, price fluctuations, and decreased demand are not managed properly. The main factors contributing to weak financial management practices include low financial literacy, limited educational background, and lack of access to information and entrepreneurship training. This study recommends the implementation of simple, context-based entrepreneurship training programs tailored to the socio-economic background of Wamena’s community, to support the sustainability of micro-enterprises in remote areas.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance students' understanding of mathematics in the Papua region through the integration of local culture, particularly noken, into mathematics education. Using an ethnomathematics approach, noken, which contains mathematical elements such as weaving patterns, symmetry, and geometry, is employed as a medium to introduce mathematical concepts that are more contextual and relevant to students' daily lives. This activity involves primary school teachers and students in Papua, with training and guidance on how to use noken as a teaching tool. Evaluation results show a significant improvement in students' understanding of mathematics, as well as increased teacher involvement and creativity in developing culturally-based learning materials. However, challenges such as limited instructional time pose obstacles to full implementation. This activity is expected to empower the community through education, preserve the noken culture, and strengthen students' mathematical literacy in a contextual and meaningful way.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to integrate the local wisdom of Te Aro Naweak Lako into character education at elementary schools in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua. Te Aro Naweak Lako embodies the values of empathy (naweak) and togetherness (lako), which align with the goals of character education to develop students who are virtuous and socially caring. The implementation methods include teacher training, development of learning modules based on local culture, classroom mentoring, and evaluation through observation and interviews. Teachers from three elementary schools actively participated in this process. The results showed an increased understanding among students of the values of empathy, responsibility, and cooperation. This activity also strengthened the relationship between schools and the indigenous community by involving local leaders who revived folk stories and communal work practices (gotong royong), which have increasingly been marginalized by modernization. Student character evaluations indicated significant improvements in empathy, responsibility, cooperation, and cultural appreciation. Teachers and parents expressed appreciation for this approach because it is more contextual and has a direct impact on student behavior both at school and at home. This activity recommends replicating the Te Aro Naweak Lako model in other schools across the Papua highlands as a means of cultural preservation and strengthening character education based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of strategic management by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jayawijaya Regency and to analyze the internal and external factors affecting their competitiveness. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that most MSME actors do not formally apply strategic management but tend to adopt informal strategies based on experience and intuition. Internal factors affecting competitiveness include low managerial capacity, limited capital, and lack of innovation. External factors include inadequate infrastructure, restricted access to digital markets, and insufficient business mentoring. Strategies to improve competitiveness involve entrepreneurship training, utilizing local potential, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and applying simple technologies. This study provides recommendations for local governments, business actors, and supporting institutions to design contextual and sustainable MSME development strategies in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions such as Jayawijaya.

Abstract

This study systematically synthesizes the relationship between transformative communication and transformational leadership in shaping the intrinsic motivation of lecturers in higher education. Using the Systematic Literature Review method based on the PRISMA protocol, a total of 46 articles from five reputable databases were analyzed to identify relevant conceptual patterns. The findings indicate that inspirational and empathetic leadership, when combined with reflective and participatory communication, is capable of fulfilling the three basic psychological needs in Self-Determination Theory: autonomy, competence, and relatedness, which are the foundation of intrinsic motivation. Nonverbal communication dimensions such as facial expressions, eye contact, and tone of voice have also been shown to strengthen perceptions of authenticity and emotional closeness between leaders and lecturers. This study offers an integrative conceptual framework that emphasizes the importance of synergy between leadership and communication as the basis for strengthening faculty motivation and building an inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable academic ecosystem.
