Abstract

The Rebo Botong ritual is an ancestral heritage of the Sasak tribe in East Lombok, NTB, whose aim is to ward off danger and maintain the safety of its citizens. Although, applying Islamic teachings by using prayers and reading verses of the holy Qur'an as well as praying to the Prophet SAW, this does not prevent oneself from the pros and cons of a society that is modern and has a different understanding of the Islamic religion. The theoretical framework of this study uses a ritual communication and cultural da'wah approach, and the method chosen is a case study with in-depth interviews and field observations with five people, with the criteria: one person (traditional leader), two people (educator and activist), and 2 people ordinary residents of the Sasak Tribe (Pringgabaya Village) East Lombok. The results of this research found that the Rebo Botong ritual was carried out to preserve ancestral culture with an Islamic framework and local traditions, and is now developing into tourism and attracting sponsors who can promote this ritual. Although, some residents no longer follow the Rebo Botong ritual because their educational background and religious understanding are different from those of the Sasak tribe who still adhere to this custom.

Abstract

This study discusses the position of women in the household through interpretation theory with a gender approach. The results of this study conclude that although Islam normatively views women as noble and honorable creatures, there are interpretations of several Qur'anic verses about household leadership that are biased in partihiarchy and do not provide a portion of justice for women's rights in the household. In line with the development of science, there are interpretations that have a more equal spirit regarding gender relations. Several interpretation theories were developed using a gender perspective approach, among others, by Muhammad Abduh, Asghar Ali Engineer, Amina Wadud, and Quraish Shihab

Abstract

The problem is that law enforcement, between advocates, prosecutors, judges, and police often does not encounter a form of justice because of improper dialectic or relational patterns. This study uses a dialectic of communication and an Islamic perspective, while the method takes case studies through interviews and field observations.  The results showed dialectically communication through elements of totality, movement, contradiction, and praxis of law enforcers: advocates, judges, prosecutors, and and these Muslim police officers seek to apply the teachings of Islam in upholding justice for society. Because with Islam, the dialectic of communication in law enforcement directly and indirectly they feel often creates good and conducive relations in the courtroom, although contradictions and controversies often occur. The implications of the research will contribute to communication science, law, and court practice in Indonesia.
