Abstract

Determining the beginning of the Hijri month is very important for Muslims, especially in Indonesia. One way to determine the beginning of the month is by observing the new moon or moon sighting. In the process of hilal (crescent) sighting, there are theoretically obstacles related to the validity of the sighting results. By implementing an observation system that has the function of displaying and storing observations through a developed application, it is hoped that it can help to increase the validity of the new moon observation. This study answers two problem formulations, specifically: (1) Can an OpenCV-based new moon observation application be built? (2) Can the multiview function be implemented with OpenCV? By using the Phyton programming language, the OpenCV library, and other additional libraries, an OpenCV-based new moon observation application has been successfully created, and at the same time the Multiview function has been implemented. The used application works well, especially the multiview function and the function to save the observations in the specified image format.

Abstract

The research with the title Efforts to Develop the HES Study Program through the Compilation of a Sharia Economic Law Dictionary (HES Dictionary) is a literature study that aims to find out the steps for compiling the HES Dictionary and find out the results of the preparation of the Sharia Economic Law Dictionary. This research is included in the type of qualitative descriptive research that describes the steps of compiling a dictionary and describes the terms in Islamic Economic Law, identified through the study of documents derived from data sources. The results obtained related to the steps of compiling a dictionary are through the stages of designing a dictionary, identifying reference materials, determining reference materials, determining the format, finishing and evaluation. From the evaluation results, it was found that the compiled dictionary design was very helpful in supporting the learning process, especially in the HES Book Review course and the Arabic for HES course. This was based on the results of the evaluation of the discussion participants because so far, they had only relied on pure Indonesian Arabic dictionaries without knowing the whole meaning of the vocabulary. The discussion participants also stated that this HES dictionary could help dictionary users overcome difficulties in understanding various Arabic terms related to mu'amalah fiqh, especially in taking text studies and Arabic for HES courses.

Abstract

This study explores the Wurumana institution within the Lio ethnic community of Maurole Village, East Nusa Tenggara, using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The research identifies three main functions of Wurumana: (1) fulfilling bridewealth obligations (belis), facilitating collective resource mobilization for marriage payments; (2) reinforcing kinship solidarity, strengthening communal bonds; and (3) providing a conflict resolution mechanism through customary mediation. The ritual unfolds in nine stages, beginning with family summons and ending with the presentation of rice, garments, and Lio woven textiles. The persistence of Wurumana is explained by three factors: the moral principle of jaga waka (preserving familial dignity), the authority of the Eda (traditional leaders), and the tau tei duna mea ethic (the cultural imperative of contribution, enforced through social sanctions). This study highlights the enduring relevance of Wurumana in contemporary Lio society and contributes to understanding the social organization of the Lio ethnic group.
