Abstract

One of the factors that causes stunting is the history of breastfeeding. Breast milk is the only ideal food that is the best and most perfect for babies to meet the physical and psychological needs of babies who are growing and developing. Exclusive breastfeeding is the provision of pure breast milk without any additional ingredients from the age of 0-6 months. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting at the Weduar Health Center, South Kei Besar District. The research method used was quantitative using a cross-sectional study approach. The sample in this study was 30 toddlers using a total sample. The instruments used were questionnaires for breastfeeding and observation sheets for the nutritional status of toddlers. Bivariate analysis used the chi square test. The results showed that out of 30 toddlers who were not given exclusive breastfeeding, 11 toddlers were given exclusive breastfeeding and 19 toddlers were given exclusive breastfeeding. Bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting (p value 0.0002). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers at the Weduar Health Center, South Kei Besar District.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by hyperglycemia and abnormalities in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. The mechanisms of diabetes mellitus can affect infertility starting with an increase in free radicals due to hyperglycemic conditions, leading to glucose auto-oxidation, protein glycation, and activation of the polyol pathway metabolism, which further accelerates the formation of reactive oxygen species. Oxidative stress increases the amount of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), oxidizes unsaturated fatty acids in spermatozoa membranes, leading to a chain reaction in cell membranes and the formation of toxic lipid peroxides. Lipid peroxides generate aldehyde compounds due to the disruption of the fatty acid chain, such as Malondialdehyde (MDA). Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a marker of oxidative stress. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Kebar Grass extract on the level of MDA (malondialdehyde), which is one of the indicators of oxidative stress, in a diabetic mouse model. The mice in this study were divided into two groups: a diabetes control group and a treatment group receiving Kebar Grass extract. The results of the study indicate that the administration of Kebar Grass extract did not have a significant effect on the MDA levels in the diabetic mouse model. Although there was a trend of decreased MDA levels in the treatment group, the difference did not reach a statistically significant level. This research indicates that although Elephant Grass has the potential as a traditional remedy for diabetes management, its effect on reducing oxidative stress, measured by MDA levels, may not be very strong. Further research is needed to better understand the mechanisms of action of Elephant Grass in diabetes management and its impact on oxidative stress.

Abstract

Elderly individuals are characterized by a decline in biological functions, which can manifest through physical symptoms, including reduced cognitive abilities. Therefore, accessible healthcare facilities are essential to provide routine health examinations for older adults. The utilization of the Elderly Posyandu (Integrated Health Post) at Rumberu Public Health Center remains notably low, influenced by various factors. The aim of this community service activity was to provide education and guidance on the importance of the Elderly Posyandu and its utilization at Rumberu Public Health Center. The findings indicate that many elderly individuals have not yet accessed the Elderly Posyandu, and available facilities remain limited. Strengthened collaboration among health cadres and the provision of adequate facilities are expected to enhance the utilization of Elderly Posyandu services at Rumberu Public Health Center.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between online gaming behavior and the incidence of insomnia among students at SMA Negeri 22 Seram Bagian Barat. The rapid development of technology and internet accessibility has led to the increasing popularity of online games, especially among teenagers. While online gaming can serve as an enjoyable and beneficial pastime, prolonged exposure can lead to addiction, causing negative impacts on physical and mental health, particularly sleep disturbances such as insomnia. This research uses a cross-sectional analytic design with 118 students as participants, and data were collected using questionnaires. The study explores how knowledge, attitudes, and parental involvement influence online gaming behavior and insomnia. Statistical analysis using Chi-Square tests revealed significant relationships between both knowledge and attitudes toward gaming and insomnia, while no significant relationship was found between parental involvement and insomnia. The findings suggest that while students are aware of the negative effects of excessive gaming, their behavior is often influenced by peer interactions, leading to disrupted sleep patterns. It is recommended that schools, parents, and communities collaborate to educate teenagers on managing gaming time and maintaining a healthy sleep routine. This study also highlights the need for further research with a broader sample and the inclusion of other factors, such as social media use and academic stress, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing teenage insomnia.
