Abstract

The increasing number of congregants who rarely attend worship has become a serious challenge for many churches in maintaining spiritual engagement and community commitment. This study aims to identify the factors that cause congregants to distance themselves from worship activities and to explore strategies that churches can implement to reengage alienated members. Using a qualitative approach, this research involved in-depth interviews with 8 selected congregants who had demonstrated inactivity in worship, focusing on a case study at Church HKBP Pardamean. The interview findings revealed several key factors contributing to the lack of attendance, including the rising demands of modern life, individualism influenced by technology, and disappointment with internal church aspects. Based on these findings, the study recommends practical strategies for churches, such as personalized approaches and strengthening the sense of belonging among congregants. This article aims to provide guidance for churches in addressing the issue of congregational disengagement and developing a more inclusive pastoral approach.

Abstract

The Great Commission is the last command of Jesus Christ to His disciples before ascending to heaven. This Great Commission is stated in the Gospel of Matthew 28:19-20. This sacred mandate calls every believer to remain steadfast and actively participate in it (cf. 2 Timothy 4:2a).  In this context, the mission extends beyond reaching those far from Christian circles or confined to those outside the home. It also applies to reaching those within families, particularly in how to reach children, who are a gift from God, and need to receive the touch of this Great Commission. Regarding this, the research is aimed at examining: What is the biblical theological concept of family for Christians? How is the biblical theological concept of parents' role as spiritual educators applied within the family? What is the essence of the biblical theological teaching role within the family? What are the challenges faced by parents as educators within the family? The study employs qualitative research with a literature review approach. This study reveals that parents, as primary educators within the Christian family, play an essential role in imparting spiritual education to their children. The research highlights that despite challenges such as cultural shifts and the pressure of modern life, the biblical mandate for parents to guide their children in faith remains critical for fostering a strong Christian identity within the family.

Abstract

This research discusses the importance of socialising to the public about the environmental impact of factory waste. Industrial waste is often the main cause of water, air and soil pollution, which directly affects human health and ecosystem sustainability. Through proper socialisation, communities around industrial estates can better understand the negative impacts of factory waste as well as ways to reduce and manage waste more wisely. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of socialisation programmes related to mill effluent management, including how information on effluent hazards and mitigation measures are conveyed to the community. The methods used in this study include surveys, interviews, as well as observations in the environment around the factory, with a focus on community perceptions before and after socialisation. The results showed that intensive socialisation involving active community participation was able to raise awareness and encourage environmentally friendly behaviour. The findings also show that collaboration between the factory, government and community is needed to create a sustainable solution for waste management. In conclusion, socialisation of factory waste plays an important role in building better environmental awareness in the community and reducing the negative impact of industry on the surrounding environment.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The development of creative economy in Christian Religious Education Theology (PAK) is a strategic approach for Theological Colleges (STT) to achieve local economic prosperity in the midst of a digital revolution towards the achievement of SDGs. Creative economy is a global strategy, including in Indonesia, to create economic added value. The integration of the creative economy in PAK Theology encourages students to improve their creative economic skills in areas such as spiritual design, digital content production, learning media, service entrepreneurship, and social innovation based on faith. This integration enriches the PAK theological learning process but also increases student participation in church and community service, an integral part of the cultural mandate.Research findings indicate that the development of the creative economy has a significant impact on the achievement of various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Economic Growth and Decent Work), SDG 9 (Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities). Therefore, the integration of creative economy development in PAK Theology not only increases the academic relevance of STT, but also serves as a tangible contribution to sustainable development in the era of Industry 5.0. It is hoped that STT graduates will become independent, innovative, adaptive, and visionary graduates who can think far ahead and play a role as agents of reform in the digital, social, and community welfare fields.

Abstract

Christian education in a multicultural environment is crucial to develop amidst Indonesia's complex diversity. While existing studies have explored its implementation, teacher roles, and curriculum integration, a comprehensive framework for its strategic development as a proactive reform movement remains underexplored. This study aims to analyze the historical and contemporary development of Christian education in multicultural settings, identify current challenges and opportunities, and formulate strategic principles for its effective and transformative advancement. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach, this research draws on James A. Banks' multicultural education theory and examines relevant historical, theological, and contextual sources. The findings highlight that Christian education must evolve beyond adaptation to actively shape inclusive, values-oriented, and hopeful learning environments. Strategic principles proposed include orienting education toward love and appreciation of diversity, fostering non-violent character formation, and promoting faithful engagement with pluralism. This study contributes practical guidance for educators and policymakers, enriches academic discourse on multicultural religious education, and supports the development of Christian education as a force for social harmony and unity in diversity.

Abstract

This research explores Smokol Tinutuan as one of the habits of the Minahasa people and also as a philosophy embraced by Minahasa people who living in North Sulawesi Province. In their daily lives, the culture of smokol (breakfast) or shared breakfast is integral to the Minahasa people (in local language call Tou Minahasa), not only in North Sulawesi but also wherever the Minahasa people have migrated, even abroad. The culture of smokol together with Tinutuan has become like a ritual for the Minahasa people. Unbeknownst to many, Smokol Tinutuan contains a philosophy that is deeply embedded in the Minahasa person's character, promoting values such as gratitude and harmonious living together. From these two values, I have drawn parallels with the values of the Kingdom of Heaven in the Bible. The philosophy of Smokol Tinutuan can be seen in several Biblical stories about the character of strong leaders. If this philosophy is developed in Christian Religious Education, it can serve as a foundation to build excellent character and mentality, much like the leaders in the Bible, such as Daniel and his three friends in Babylon, as well as the disciples of Christ with Christ by the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
