Abstract

Cocoa is a plantation crop that has a high contribution to the Indonesian economy through export activities. The large number of people interested in processed cocoa products means that demand for cocoa is increasing every year. The aim of the research carried out was to measure and see the level of comparative competitiveness of Indonesian cocoa in the main importing country, namely Malaysia. This research was conducted from March 2024 to April 2024. This research uses secondary data in the form of panel data for the period 2013-2022. The method used is Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) to measure and determine the level of competitiveness of Indonesian cocoa's comparative advantage. The research results show that Indonesian cocoa in the Malaysian market has strong competitiveness with an average RCA value of 2.61197. This also shows that Indonesian cocoa can compete in the global market by continuing to develop both technology and information.

Abstract

This study is intended to understand the impact of inflation on economic growth in the last five years using a simple linear regression method processed using a statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) program. The results of the analysis that have been investigated revealed that, obtained a significance value of 0.338 which is greater than 0.05, this shows that inflation does not have a major impact on economic development. Based on the coefficient of determination test, the R² is 30% < 55%, which means that inflation can only explain or affect economic growth (GDP) by 30%, while the other 70% is influenced by other variables. The final conclusion obtained is that in the last five years (2019-2023), inflation does not affect economic growth (GDP), this may be because the value of inflation and GDP in the last five years (2019-2023) is stable, so it does not show a significant influence.

Abstract

Indonesia is in second place after Thailand which is one of the world's largest rubber producers. Indonesia is also the second largest rubber producing country in the world which plays an important role in meeting international market demand. The two countries that most often export rubber are the United States and Japan. Analyzing the competitiveness of Indonesian rubber exports to Japan and America is the aim of this research. Secondary data in the form of time series and cross-sectional data between individuals for the 2018–2022 period was obtained from the Trade map and BPS. This analytical method evaluates the competitive advantage of natural rubber in America and Japan using the Export Product Dynamics (EPD) and Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) methods to identify comparative advantages. The results of this analysis show that in 2019 and 2020, Indonesian rubber commodity exports to the US have a unique comparative advantage compared to Japan which does not have a comparative advantage. In terms of competitiveness, Indonesian rubber is relatively uncertain compared to America and Japan. Rubber producers in Indonesia and the government must be able to collaborate to improve the competitive position of Indonesian rubber exports in order to increase competitive and comparative advantages and maintain the stability of Indonesia's competitiveness against America and Japan.
