Abstract

Students in class VII still have difficulty solving contextual problems related to the concept of a square. Through research, it will be shown that Realistic Mathematics Education(RME) and expository are more effective if it is based on students' post-test results after studying the concept of a square. The research objectives were achieved using a quasi-experimental method involving 2 groups of subjects, namely an experimental group of 33 students and a control group of 34 students. The subject group came from the class VII population at one of the junior high schools in Kebumen. The data analyzed is in the form of final semester exam results and posttest results collected using a test instrument in the form of 10 multiple choice questions. The data were analyzed using balance tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and effectiveness tests. Based on the results of the t-test and the hypothesis determined by the researcher, it can be shown that the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education(RME) method is more effective than the expository method. This conclusion is also strengthened by the mean value of the experimental group which is higher than the control group.

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether or not mathematical literacy skills influence students' problem-solving abilities. The research method used is quantitative research with a regression approach. The subjects were 64 class XI students, who were selected using cluster random sampling from a population of 133 students. Data was obtained using the Mathematical Literacy Ability Questionnaire and Mathematical Problem Solving Ability Test Instrument. Data were analyzed using appropriate test statistics, namely the Chi-Square and Simple Linearity Test as prerequisite tests. Hypothesis testing is carried out in stages: (1) Pearson's Product Moment Correlation analysis, (2) Correlation Significance Test, and (3) Coefficient of Determination Test. After the data analysis, it was concluded that mathematical literacy abilities (X) positively influenced mathematical problem-solving skills (Y). This is proven by the calculation results of Sig.=0.000 < Sig.α =0.05 and the coefficient of determination value of 0.906. This means that mathematical literacy skills strongly influence mathematical problem-solving abilities, and the effect is 90.6%. The regression equation Y = -53.813 + 0.8189X shows that for every additional unit of variable X, the Y value or students' mathematical problem-solving ability increases by 0.8189.

Abstract

The integration of innovative digital tools offers a promising avenue to address traditional learning hurdles and enhance student engagement. This study aims to develop a mobile application to improve students' critical thinking and mathematical computational skills in the material of the multiplication rule of 5. The low level of both abilities and the limitations of innovative learning media. The use of the ADDIE development research method. The results of the study showed that the application was significantly successful in improving computational skills and critical thinking skills, which was empirically proven by increased test scores and active student involvement during the mathematics learning process. An important contribution in providing effective digital learning solutions for basic materials as a foundation in developing knowledge for students. Furthermore, this application serve as a scalable model for integrating technology to address fundamental learning gaps in mathematics across various educational settings. Its success suggests the potential for broader adoption of similar tools to foster essential cognitive skills from an early age.

Abstract

Motivasi belajar matematika siswa kelas V masih rendah.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the relatively low learning outcomes and problem solving abilities of class IX students. So this research aims to improve learning outcomes and improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The objectives were achieved through the classroom action research method by applying the flipped classroom model for 3 cycles in trigonometry learning. This research involved 32 students from SMA N 1 Pedes. Data was collected using test instruments, observation sheets, and interviews. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Hubberman method. The results of the analysis show an increase in learning outcomes and an increase in mathematical problem solving abilities. The increase in learning outcomes is shown by the average value in cycle I of 67.28, cycle II of 72.97, and cycle III of 75.41. The percentage of mathematical problem solving ability from cycle I was 47%, increasing in cycle II to 71.87%; and in cycle III it was 84.37%. Thus, student learning outcomes have reached the specified criteria of 74, and meet the criteria for the percentage of problem solving ability set at 80%. So the application of the flipped classroom model can be recommended for further use in mathematics learning, especially trigonometry.
