Abstract

Long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis) is one of the forest-dwelling animals. Long-tailed monkeys can be found along the road that connects the green signpost with elephant training center. The aim of research to determine the spread of long-tailed monkeys in the area.  The research methods used Concentration Count on points discovery of groups of long-tailed monkeys.  An observation method used to determine the area of long-tailed monkeys move is done by taking the coordinates of the GPS based outer canopy that is used to move. Habitat conditions are determined using the Rapid Assessment. The results obtained in such a location that there are five groups of long-tailed monkeys who are geographically separated from each other. Fifth habitat conditions are relatively similar groups dominated by rosewood and main feed jeluak, hibiscus and islands. Three groups of five of the group activities occur near Entrance PLG. It shows that the group is influenced by tourist activity. Two other groups are in the natural habitat conditions.

Abstract

The rise of hornbill hunting and deforestation that occurred in Indonesia, especially the island of Sumatra lately, threatening the preservation of these birds in nature. The purpose of this study was to determine thediversity of hornbill species in the Way Canguk Research Station, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park. The method used in this study is a transect line with a total of 18 line transects. The data obtained was processed using the Shanon wienners diversity index formula, then translated with descriptive analysis. A total of 5 types of hornbills found in these locations are rhinoceros hornbills (Buceros rhinoceros), helmeted hornbills (Rhinoplax vigil), wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus), bushy crested hornbill (Anorrhinus galeritus) and white crowned hornbill (Berenicornis comatus), with a species diversity index value of 1.00 included in the low category and the evenness of the species is a stable with an evenness index value of 0.62. The highest abundance of hornbills is (Anorrhinus galeritus) a beside that hornbills can be found in almost all transect lines.

Abstract

Abstract

Increasing the number of individual deer in captivity indicates an increase in the deer population. One of the factors affecting the increase in the deer population is a drop in the quality of feed and nutritional value adequate for deer. Therefore it is necessary to investigate the type of feed and feed nutrient content in captive deer drop in PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP). Nutrient content of feed drop in deer obtained through the proximate analysis by taking a sample of 100 grams per sample feed. This type of feed given drop in manager consists of the main feed forage consisting of grass and leaves, in the form of rice bran concentrate feed, and feed the tubers were given every month. Based on proximate analysis that has been made known that the feed drop-in provided by the organizer captivity contains good nutrition, as seen in the high water content, extract ingredients without nitrogen (BETN) high, protein and fibers that do not differ greatly in value and fat content is not excessive. Keywords: Drop in Feed Nutrition, Feeding Deer, Captive Deer PT. GMP

Abstract

The success of managing the forest management unit cannot be separated from the availability of human resources.  The purpose of this study is to study the implications of the issuance of Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government on Human Resources in the Gedong Wani Production Forest Management Unit. Data obtained through interviews and library studio analyzed descriptively qualitative.  The results showed that there have been changes in human resources in the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) KPHP Gedong Wani.  In addition, there are also several inhibiting and supporting factors in its application. The most important implication is an increase in human resources both in quantity and quality due to the transfer of authory from the center to the regions.  Education and training are still needed to guarantee and improve the quality of human resources in the UPTD KPHP Gedong Wani.

Abstract

University of Lampung (Unila) is one of the Green Open Space (GOS) in Bandar Lampung City which has vegetation. Vegetation in green open space has a role as a wildlife habitat for example birds. Various bird species can be indicators of the quality of open green space at the University of Lampung. This research was conducted to determine the diversity of bird species and as an indicator in determining the index of green space quality at the Unila Campus. Research is conducted from November 2016 to March 2017 and December 2018. The study was conducted at the Unila Campus which is divided into eight blocks. An inventory of the diversity of bird species carried out with concentrated observations in eight blocks. The value of diversity of bird species uses an analysis of shannon-wienner heterogeneity index value and the quality of green open space through the calculation of green space quality index values. Based on the results of the study there were 20 species of birds on the Unila campus. The diversity index of bird species is classified as moderate (H '= 2.74). The GOS quality index at the Unila Campus is 59.2 with the intermediate category.

Abstract

The Sumatran Elephant (Elephas maximus Sumatranus) has a large body causing the elephant to require very much feed. Age and weight affect the need for the number of parent and child feed. Eating behaviors both in the cage and in the wild include the movement of picking, cutting and chewing. Knowledge of the proportion of the eating behavior of parents and children of elephants will be useful as a reference in the efforts to preserve the Sumatran elephant population in both Insitu and exsitu conservation activities. The aim of the study is to determine the proportion of the daily eating behavior of Sumatran elephants for 24 hours. The research was held in April 2019 at the Elephant response Unit (ERU) Tegal Yoso National Park Way Kambas. The method used is a sampling scan method by calculating the average and percentage values that are in use Microsoft Excel 2007 which will be displayed in the form of graphs and analyses in a descriptive. The results of research data showed that the percentage of behavior is greater than the parent in comparison of children (42.24%) and (28%) With feed that is in the can of natural feed or condensuration and additional feed in the cage. The proportion of feeding to two elephants in the morning to late afternoon (53.93%) Parent and (42.59%) Children. Furthermore, in the afternoon until the morning of the day (30.55%) Parent and (13.42%) Children.
