Abstract

Stress is the body's response to stressors. The prevalence of stress in the elderly undergoing care at social care homes reaches 30%. Stress can be managed with non-pharmacological therapies such as exercise, one of which is healthy heart gymnastics. This study aims to determine the difference in stress levels before and after performing healthy heart gymnastics in the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Sinta Social Care Home in Palangka Raya. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a one-group pre-test post-test design. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique with a total of 23 samples. The study was conducted for 2 weeks, and the healthy heart gymnastics intervention was given twice a week. Bivariate data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. The percentage of normal stress levels in the pre-test and post-test categories increased from 78.3% to 95.7%. The results of the statistical analysis showed a significant difference in stress levels before and after healthy heart gymnastics in the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Sinta Social Care Home in Palangka Raya with a p-value = 0.025. Healthy heart gymnastics indicates a positive impact on stress levels in the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Sinta Social Care Home in Palangka Raya.

Abstract

One indicator of a person's heart health can be assessed by looking at resting heart rate (HR), resting blood pressure (BP), and cardiac output. Based on data from the Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, the prevalence of hypertension in 2019 was 34.47%. This figure shows that hypertension is still above the national average. This study aims to analyze changes in blood pressure and heart rate recovery after mix impact aerobic exercise in the form of dayak gymnastics in Palangka Raya University students. The research design used a descriptive research design using a cross-sectional study design. The subjects were 36 students of the Sendratasik Study Program who met the criteria. The instrument used was the Dayak gymnastics video. Data were analyzed using Univariate and Multivariate. Data analysis was carried out using the Friedman test, for BPs and TDd paired t-test, for heart rate recovery. The decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure after doing Dayak gymnastics occurred at minutes 30, 45, and significantly at minute 60 by 6.21/4 mmHg. While the decrease in heart rate recovery after Dayak gymnastics significantly occurred at minute 5 by 22.27 bpm

Abstract

The occurrence of falls among the elderly is a result of the aging process, which can lead to injuries and physical limitations. A history of falls, gender, and nutritional status are estimated to influence the risk of falling. To evaluate the relationship between a history of falls, gender, and nutritional status and the results of the TUGT using a descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach, the study sample consisted of 30 elderly people. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, applying Fisher’s Exact Test and Spearman correlation tests. There is a relationship between a history of falls and nutritional status and the results of the TUGT in the elderly with p-value = 0,000. However, no significant relationship was found between gender and the results of the TUGT. This study provides evidence that a history of falls and nutritional status influence balance in the elderly.
