Abstract

The ciplukan plant (Physalis flavonoi L.) is widely used as a traditional medicine because it contains various bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and physalin. The purpose of this study was to identify and measure the total flavonoid content of ciplukan extracts in various solvents. Ciplukan was extracted by maceration using ethanol, n-hexane and ethyl acetate solvents. Flavonoids were identified by UV-Vis spectrophotometry at 510 nm wavelength. Total flavonoid content was measured based on the calibration curve of quercetin as the standard of comparison. The highest yield of ciplukan extract was obtained from ethanol solvent (18.5%), followed by n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The highest absorbance and total flavonoid content were found in the ethyl acetate extract, which were 0.1162 and 3,709.01 μg/g. Flavonoids from Ciplukan extract were identified most optimally in the semipolar solvent ethyl acetate compared to the polar solvent ethanol and nonpolar n-hexanes. The conclusion of this study is that ethyl acetate extract has the potential to be developed as an herbal medicinal material.

Abstract

Introduction : Blood typing is one of the important parameters in blood transfusion, patient identification, and various other medical applications. The slide method is one of the easiest, fastest, and most frequently used methods for blood typing. The sensitivity of the slide method is low and can be easily influenced by many factors, making standardization difficult. Inappropriate blood volume can cause vague or difficult-to-read results due to the prozone effect. This study aims to determine the difference in blood volume variations in the degree of agglutination of blood typing using the slide method. Method: The type of research conducted is experimental. The study was conducted at STIKes Bina Cipta Husada Purwokerto in September 2024. The blood volume variations used were 1 µl, 3 µl, and 5 µl. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to analyze the data.. Result: The results showed a statistically significant difference between blood volume variations and the degree of agglutination with a significance value <0.05. Conclusion: There is a difference in the degree of agglutination based on blood volume variations using the slide method.

Abstract

Introduction: Gastrointestinal parasitic infections in pigs remain a significant problem, especially in smallholder farming systems with traditional management practices. Parasite detection is generally carried out through fecal examination, but the sensitivity of the results is greatly influenced by the methods and reagents used. This study seeks to assess and contrast the efficacy of flotation and sedimentation techniques in identifying parasite eggs and larvae in pig feces from Marga Sari Village, Tangerang Regency. Research Methods: A comparative descriptive study using fifteen pig feces samples obtained through purposive sampling. Each sample was examined using four examination methods, namely the flotation method with a 33 ZnSO4 solution, the flotation method with a saturated NaCl solution, the sedimentation method with a 0.9 NaCl solution, and the sedimentation method using distilled water. All samples were examined once using each method, resulting in a total of 60 preparations observed. Microscopic examination was performed to identify the presence and type of parasite eggs and larvae based on their morphological characteristics. Research Results: The flotation method using a 33 ZnSO4 solution showed the highest percentage of positive samples, namely 53.3, followed by the saturated NaCl flotation method at 40.0. The sedimentation method with a 0.9 NaCl solution and distilled water showed positive percentages of 33.3 and 26.7, respectively. Ascaris lumbricoides eggs were the most commonly found parasites, while hookworm eggs were only detected using the flotation method. Conclusion: The flotation method, particularly using a 33 ZnSO4 solution, is the most sensitive method for detecting parasite eggs in pig feces. A combination of flotation and sedimentation methods is recommended to obtain a more comprehensive diagnosis of gastrointestinal parasites.

Abstract

Abstract

High density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol is one of the lipoprotein components that plays an important role in transporting cholesterol from tissues to the liver. HDL cholesterol levels are measured using serum obtained from blood after the clotting process. Clotting times that do not follow the procedure can affect serum quality and the accuracy of test results. This study aims to determine the differences in HDL cholesterol levels based on variations in blood clotting time before centrifugation. This study is an experimental study with three treatments, namely blood clotting for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes before centrifugation. Normality was tested using Shapiro-Wilk, while differences between groups were tested using the paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS software. The average HDL cholesterol level in blood frozen for 15 minutes was 35.88 mg/dL, for 10 minutes was 31.00 mg/dL, and for 5 minutes was 29.00 mg/dL. The statistical test results showed a significant difference between 15 minutes and 10 minutes of freezing (p = 0.000) and between 15 minutes and 5 minutes of freezing (p = 0.000). Variations in blood clotting time significantly affect HDL cholesterol levels. A clotting time of 15 minutes before centrifugation produces more optimal HDL levels and is in line with standard procedures. Keywords : HDL cholesterol, clotting time, blood serum

Abstract

Anemia is a health problem that often occurs in women of childbearing age and pregnant women, with a significant impact on individual health and the quality of human resources. This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of the Lily Posyandu community about anemia through health education accompanied by hemoglobin testing. The activity was carried out on November 18, 2025, with a pre-test and post-test design to assess the effectiveness of the education. A total of 27 participants attended the counseling, which included material delivery, interactive discussions, questionnaire completion, and hemoglobin testing using POCT Hb. The results showed an increase in average knowledge from 76.43% to 95.13%, with a decrease in standard deviation from 30.01 to 6.30, indicating an increase in understanding as well as homogeneity of participants' knowledge. The Wilcoxon test yielded p = 0.043 (p < 0.05), confirming a significant difference before and after the counseling. The greatest improvement occurred in understanding of iron-rich foods, from 11.7% to 94.1%. The leaflet medium proved to support the success of education thanks to its ease of access, simple appearance, and ability to strengthen information retention, despite its limitations compared to audiovisual media. Hemoglobin testing also provided an initial picture of the participants' anemia status. Overall, this PKM activity was effective in improving community health literacy.
