Abstract

The main goal of learning Arabic is to develop practical linguistic skills among learners centered around the concept of willingness to communicate (WTC). WTC refers to learners' strong desire and readiness to speak in specific contexts or situations. A critical challenge is how to accurately measure WTC in Arabic language learning using a valid and reliable instrument. Understanding WTC is crucial as it indicates learners' motivation to use Arabic, enhances their speaking proficiency, and creates a supportive linguistic environment. Research on WTC in Arabic language learning is currently limited, necessitating further exploration in this area. Consequently, this study aims to develop a valid and reliable WTC measurement instrument for Arabic language learners using a quantitative approach, incorporating both Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) methods. The participants for this research are 204 Arabic language learners, and a survey was utilized for data collection. The WTC instrument employed in this study is an adaptation of existing instruments, modified to align with the context of Arabic language learning and the specific conditions of Indonesian learners. The findings reveal that the WTC construct has yielded valid and reliable items that can be used to measure WTC among learners in Arabic language learning. Furthermore, there are three main dimensions within this construct, namely, the context of online, classroom, and offline. Thus, it is hoped that the WTC construct developed can be utilized to measure aspects of WTC among Arabic language learners, thereby enabling the determination of further steps in realizing linguistic behaviors

Abstract

The aim of this research is to compare the story of Isra Mikraj in two poems by Al-Bushiri entitled Burdah and al-Hamziyah with two poems by Ahmad Syauqi entitled Nahj al-Burdah and al-Hamziyah al-Nabawiyah in terms of form and content, and to reveal the concept of Isra Mikraj according to the two poets. This research is a qualitative research using interpretation approach. Comparative studies in this research were conducted by comparing literary works based on the same theme, and revealing affinities, historical aspects and influences. The results of the research found that Ahmad Syauqi was greatly influenced by Al-Bushiri. Kasidah al-Hamziyah Al-Bushiri and al-Hamziyah al-Nabawiyah Ahmad Syauqi, in terms of form, both have similarities in using beautiful language although there are differences because Ahmad Syauqi is more diverse in choosing diction. Likewise, in terms of form, Burdah Al-Bushiri and Nahj al-Burdah Ahmad Syauqi have similarities in using beautiful language, even though they have differences in terms of imagination. Meanwhile, in terms of content, all of them have similarities in believing in the story of Isra' Mi'raj, even though the concept of Isra' Mi'raj according to Al-Bushiri and Ahmad Syauqi is different. According to Al-Bushiri, the concept of Isra Mikraj is a miracle, a lesson in faith, and Islamic teachings such as patience and love for the Prophet. Meanwhile, according to Ahmad Syauqi, the concept of Isra Mikraj is an event that raises rationality debates, an event that has a lot of lessons and knowledge, obligatory prayer, and a message about the important role of the Al-Aqṣa Mosque in Palestine. ملخص يهدف هذا البحث إلى مقارنة قصة الإسراء والمعراج في قصيدتين للبوصيري بعنوان البردة والهمزية، مع قصيدتين لأحمد شوقي بعنوان نهج البردة والهمزية النبوية من حيث الشكل والمضمون، والكشف في قصيدتين للبوصيري بعنوان البردة والهمزية مع قصيدتين لأحمد شوقي بعنوان نهج البردة والهمزية النبوية عن مفهوم الإسراء المعراج حسب الشاعرين لهما خلفيات مختلفة. يتم تضمين هذا البحث في البحث النوعي باستخدام الدراسة المكتبية. ويتم إجراء الدراسة الموازنة في هذا البحث من خلال مقارنة الأعمال الأدبية التي تحمل الموضوع في نفسه، وكشف التشابهات والاختلافات، والعوامل التاريخية، والتأثير والتأثر. تثبت نتائج هذا البحث أن أحمد شوقي كان متأثرا بالبوصيري. أما قصيدة الهمزية للبوصيري والهمزية النبوية لأحمد شوقي، فكلاهما يتشابهان في الشكل في استخدام اللغة الجميلة، وإن كان هناك اختلاف لأن أحمد شوقي أكثر تنوعا في اختيار المفردات. وكذلك من حيث الشكل، فإن بردة البوصيري ونهج البردة لأحمد شوقي يتشابهان في استخدام اللغة الجميلة، رغم أن بينهما اختلافات من حيث الخيال. أما من حيث المضمون، فكلها تتشابه في الاعتقاد بقصة الإسراء المعراج، مع أن مفهوم الإسراء المعراج عند البوصيري وأحمد شوقي مختلف. وبحسب البوصيري، فإن مفهوم الإسراء والمعراج هو معجزة، ودرس في الإيمان، وتعاليم إسلامية مثل الصبر ومحبة النبي. أما بالنسبة لأحمد شوقي، فإن مفهوم الإسراء المعراج هو حادثة يثير مناظرات عقلانية، وحادثة فيها الكثير من العبر والمعرفة، حادثة وجوب الصلاة، ورسالة حول أهمية المسجد الأقصى في فلسطين. Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membandingkan kisah Isra Mikraj dalam dua syair Al-Bushiri yang berjudul Burdah dan al-Hamziyah dengan dua syair karya Ahmad Syauqi yang berjudul Nahj al-Burdah dan al-Hamziyah al-Nabawiyah dari sisi bentuk dan konten, serta mengungkap konsep Isra Mikraj menurut kedua penyair tadi. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan kajian pustaka. Kajian perbandingan dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara membandingkan karya sastra berdasarkan tema yang sama, dan mengungkap afinitas, aspek historis, dan keterpengaruhan. Hasil dari penelitian ditemukan bahwa Ahmad Syauqi mendapat banyak pengaruh dari Al-Bushiri. Kasidah al-Hamziyah Al-Bushiri dan al-Hamziyah al-Nabawiyah Ahmad Syauqi, dari segi bentuk keduanya memiliki kesamaan dalam menggunakan bahasa yang indah walaupun terdapat perbedaan karena Ahmad Syauqi lebih beragam dalam memilih diksi. Begitu pula dalam kasidah Burdah Al-Bushiri dan Nahj al-Burdah Ahmad Syauqi dari segi bentuk memiliki kesamaan dalam menggunakan bahasa yang indah, walaupun memiliki perbedaan dalam hal imajinasi. Sedangkan dari segi konten semuanya memiliki kesamaan dalam mempercayai kisah Isra Mikraj, walaupun konsep isra’ mikraj menurut Al-Bushiri dan Ahmad Syauqi berbeda. Konsep Isra Mikraj menurut Al-Bushiri adalah mukjizat, pelajaran iman, serta ajaran Islam seperti tentang kesabaran dan cinta kepada Nabi. Sedangkan konsep Isra Mikraj menurut Ahmad Syauqi adalah peristiwa yang menimbulkan perdebatan rasionalitas, peristiwa yang memiliki banyak pelajaran dan pengetahuan, pewajiban salat, dan pesan peran penting Masjid Al-Aqṣa di Palestina.

Abstract

AbstractThis study investigates psycholinguistic perspectives on interaction patterns that facilitate meaning acquisition in BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing/Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages) learning at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Employing a descriptive-analytic qualitative approach, the research examines how specific interaction patterns namely Student-Centered, Reciprocal, Collaborative, and Authentic Interactive support cognitive and linguistic processes in second language acquisition. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with two instructors and eight students from culturally diverse backgrounds, and thematic analysis of relevant teaching materials. The findings highlight the effectiveness of interactive and contextually enriched teaching strategies in improving students’ grasp of literal and contextual meanings, vocabulary mastery, and cultural competence. Drawing on Krashen’s Input Hypothesis and Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development, this study emphasizes the importance of comprehensible input and scaffolding in fostering meaningful learning. The practical outcomes include recommendations for psycholinguistics-based teacher training programs and the design of interactive instructional materials tailored to the needs of culturally diverse learners. These findings contribute to advancing BIPA teaching practices and strengthening Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy initiatives.AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji wawasan psikolinguistik terhadap pola interaksi yang mendukung pemerolehan makna dalam pembelajaran BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif-analitis, penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana pola interaksi seperti Student-Centered, Reciprocal, Collaborative, dan Authentic Interactive memfasilitasi proses kognitif dan linguistik dalam pemerolehan bahasa kedua. Data diperoleh melalui observasi kelas, wawancara dengan dua pengajar dan delapan siswa dari berbagai latar belakang budaya, serta analisis dokumen yang dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pengajaran yang interaktif dan kaya konteks efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap makna literal dan kontekstual, penguasaan kosakata, dan wawasan budaya. Dengan mengintegrasikan teori seperti Input Hypothesis dari Krashen dan Zone of Proximal Development dari Vygotsky, penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya comprehensible input dan scaffolding dalam menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang bermakna. Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini mencakup perancangan program pelatihan guru berbasis psikolinguistik dan pengembangan bahan ajar interaktif yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan siswa dari latar belakang budaya yang beragam, sehingga berkontribusi pada peningkatan metode pengajaran BIPA dan mendukung diplomasi budaya Indonesia. Abstract

Developing learners’ communicative proficiency in Arabic requires not only linguistic competence but also a strong psychological disposition, particularly the willingness to communicate (WTC). Previous studies have highlighted the roles of foreign language enjoyment (FLE) and self-efficacy (SE) in fostering WTC, yet empirical evidence in the context of Arabic language learning remains scarce. This study aims to examine the structural relationships among FLE, SE, and WTC among undergraduate students of Arabic Language Education. A quantitative design was adopted using path analysis through the SmartPLS application. Data were collected from 101 participants using three validated instruments: the Short Form of the FLE Scale, the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Arabic WTC Scale. The findings reveal that FLE exerts a significant positive effect on SE (β = 0.52, p < .01). However, SE does not significantly predict WTC (β = 0.11, p > .05), indicating that learners’ confidence alone does not guarantee communicative willingness. These results suggest that WTC is influenced by additional factors such as communicative contexts, classroom dynamics, and affective barriers. The study underscores the need for pedagogical interventions that integrate emotional engagement and contextualized communicative practices to strengthen Arabic learners’ WTC.
