Abstract

Brunei Darussalam is a small country in Southeast Asia that has a majority Muslim population with a percentage of 67%. Brunei Darussalam has established itself as an Islamic kingdom and practiced Islamic law since the 15th/16th century. British colonization in the 19th century narrowed the position of Islamic law in Brunei Darussalam. After independence in 1984, Brunei successfully established itself as an Islamic state with an absolute monarchy government. Through the ideology of Malay Islam Beraja (MIB), Brunei emphasizes Malay and Islam as indicators of state identity. This journal article aims to explain more deeply the development of political Islam and the implementation of sharia law in Brunei so that it can be implemented nationally. This research is a descriptive analytical historical research. Source collection is done by literature study, then criticized for validity. Analysis of data sources using a political history approach. The results show that contemporary Brunei Darussalam is able to consistently maintain the form of an absolute Islamic Kingdom unlike Indonesia and Malaysia, as Muslim-majority countries in Southeast Asia. The Sultan's assertiveness and implementation of Islamic shari'a to Muslims and non-Muslims, supported by the policy and progress of Brunei's community services that are all shari'ah and free, both in education, health and so on. One-way politics is also a major factor in the success of MIB to run.

Abstract

This paper discusses the development of the History of Islamic Civilization in Myanmar before and after independence. This discussion is relevant because the Muslim community in Myanmar has been the focus of world attention in recent decades. Their challenging living conditions have come under the spotlight, especially as various issues related to Muslims in Burma (Myanmar) have emerged. Discrimination against them often occurs because they are a minority in a country where the majority of the population is non-Muslim. The living conditions of Muslims in Myanmar create complex dynamics and are interesting to discuss. This paper draws its sources from library research, with the aim of exploring the dynamics of Myanmar Muslim life through a historical lens. The data collection method involves referencing literature, including books, journals, and other scholarly papers. The data analysis process involves collecting, identifying and categorizing information, which is then interpreted to form concepts that support the main discussion in this paper. The results show that Islam has been present in Myanmar since the 9th century. Various tribes or ethnicities in Myanmar embrace Islam, such as the Rohingya, Huihui (Panthay), Burmese Muslims, Muslims of Indian descent, and Zerbadi. The Rohingyas in particular are known as a group that is against the Myanmar government. This has led them to be regarded as rebels, resulting in the persecution of the Rohingya.

Abstract

Abstract This article aims to explain the contribution/role of the Indonesian student diaspora in Egypt as national ambassadors to bilateral relations between Indonesia and Egypt, especially for Indonesian Independence. The Indonesian student diaspora in Egypt has an important role in seeking the support of Arab countries, especially Egypt; this effort was made long before Indonesia's Independence. The spirit of renewal of Indonesian students was also influenced by the idea of renewal raised by Muhammad Abduh and his students. So that, since 1920. Approaching 1945, the student political movement was increasingly active, and efforts to approach soft diplomacy had been made, introducing Indonesia as a Muslim country that needed help from other fellow Muslims. This effort paid off with the Egyptian State officially declaring Indonesia's Independence, followed by other Arab countries.   Keywords: diaspora, contribution, egypt, indonesian students   REFERENCES Cairo, K.
