Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of on-street parking on the performance of MT Haryono Road in Balikpapan City. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method. The analysis reveals that the presence of on-street parking significantly affects road performance. On Tuesday, the day with the highest traffic volume, the degree of saturation during peak afternoon hours reached 0.89 with on-street parking and decreased to 0.85 when parking was moved off-street. The Level of Service (LOS) on Monday and Tuesday was categorized as E, indicating congested traffic conditions with very high side friction. The LOS improved to category C on Wednesday and Sunday, indicating unstable traffic flow with limited speeds and considerable side friction. The LOS was categorized as D on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, indicating saturated traffic flow with starting low speeds and high side friction. The worst traffic conditions occurred on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with a LOS of E and a degree of saturation of 0.89. Conversely, the best traffic conditions occurred on Sunday, April 7, 2024, with a LOS of C and a degree of saturation of 0.62. The study's findings highlight the importance of parking management to enhance road performance in urban areas.

Abstract

Labor leveling in construction projects is a crucial strategy to optimize resources, improve work efficiency, and reduce excessive workforce fluctuations. However, this aspect is often overlooked due to the project's primary focus on timely completion rather than efficient labor utilization. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of labor leveling in enhancing construction project efficiency. The method used is a case study of a Guest House construction project in Balikpapan with a total area of 1,514.875 m² and a duration of 308 calendar days. Microsoft Project was used to perform resource leveling through task rescheduling. The results showed that before leveling, the maximum number of workers reached 157 with uneven distribution. After leveling, the peak workforce was reduced to 125 workers, with the highest concentration occurring in week 15. Although it had no direct impact on labor wages, the implementation of leveling successfully reduced transportation and accommodation costs from Rp 1,886,830,000 to Rp 455,569,000. Therefore, labor leveling is proven to improve project efficiency and reduce potential resource waste in construction projects.

Abstract

Water conservation efforts are needed to meet increasing water demand (e.g., rainwater harvesting) to help maintain water and environmental sustainability in the present and future. The interdependence of the five components, which comprised 31 factors, was examined in a quick assessment of urban rainwater harvesting. This study aimed to evaluate the sustainability aspect that affects rainwater harvesting based on five sustainability factors. Stages of the research methodology; 1) Preparation of the research area and respondents, 2) Collecting data through survey methods using interview techniques to obtain related data, 3) Conducting data analysis and characterizing the sustainability of rainwater harvesting, using multi-aspect analysis based on developed factors and attributes, and 4) Using two scenarios reasonably sustainable circumstances urban rainwater harvesting variables, adapting management strategies should be developed based on the urban rainwater harvesting sustainability research, which is in a reasonably sustainable environment. The results show that the sustainability status of urban rainwater harvesting in the City of Balikpapan is relatively consistent, with an indicator of 44.77%. Institutional and technological infrastructure are aspects of low sustainability. To raise sustainability status to 'sustainable,’ then choose scenario number 1, that is a realistic scenario in which the 10 sensitive factors are upgraded, thereby raising the sustainability indicator to 65.52%. The most sensitive attributes to be improved are poor groundwater quality, availability of funding for rainwater harvesting, need for roof cleaning, need for collaboration between stakeholders, and reduction of conflict over taking water sources.

Abstract

Gedung perkantoran karantina perikanan Kabupaten Berau dibangun untuk memudahkan proses ekspor dan impor produk makanan laut bagi para pengusaha di bidang perikanan. Proyek pengembangan ini pelaksanaannya memerlukan waktu 160 hari. Pencapaian efisiensi dan efektivitas  pelaksanaan di lapangan memerlukan pengelolaan proyek yang tepat, termasuk melalui pengorganisasian rencana pelaksanaan. Beberapa metode  dapat digunakan untuk perencanaan proyek, antara lain  Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) dan Project Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganalisis waktu optimal dan jalur kritis dengan PDM dan probabilitas penyelesaian proyek pembangunan Gedung perkantoran karantina perikanan Kabupaten Berau menggunakan  PERT. Hasil analisis PDM didapatkan, bahwa proyek pembangunan Gedung perkantoran karantina perikanan Kabupaten Berau membutuhkan waktu penyelesaian selama 163 hari. Jalur kritisnya adalah pekerjaan pendahuluan; pekerjaan struktur beton; pekerjaan tanah dan pondasi; pekerjaan dinding, plesteran, kaca, dan ACP; pekerjaan kusen, pintu, jendela, dan aksesoris; pekerjaan sanitasi dan sanitair; pekerjaan instalasi listrik; pekerjaan halaman dan lain-lain; pekerjaan tanah dan persiapan; dan pekerjaan paving blok. Dengan menggunakan PERT, peluang proyek selesai dalam waktu 163 hari adalah 50%. Sebaliknya, untuk mencapai probabilitas 90%, proyek memerlukan waktu  170-180 hari untuk diselesaikan.
