Abstract

Matakali sub-district is one of the largest coconut producers with a coconut land area of 1,429.19 hectares and an annual production of 1,093.77 tons. This is a great opportunity for the coconut palm sugar home industry in Matakali sub-district, especially in Pasiang village. Based on the results of preliminary observations in Matakali sub-district, the coconut palm sugar home industry is only found in Pasiang village, and there are a total of 30 coconut palm sugar home industries in three hamlets namely Buttulamba, Tabone, and Seppong. This has brought changes to the utilization of coconut trees, which in the past were only used for their fruit to produce oil and copra, but now coconut trees are also used for their sap to make brown sugar. This is done because the community considers the market opportunity for coconut palm sugar to be better than the coconut oil or copra market. In addition, coconut fruit processing also has a harvest period, but coconut sap can be produced every day. The coconut palm sugar home industry in Pasiang village is currently in the development stage along with increasing market demand from outside the region. The purpose of this study was to determine the income level of the coconut brown sugar home industry in Pasiang Village, Matakali District, Polewali Mandar Regency. The analysis method used is quantitative analysis. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling technique, which is a method that uses the entire population as a sample. The data analysis technique used is income analysis. Based on the survey results, the average income of the red coconut sugar home industry is Rp 4,368,964 by month.

Abstract

This study evaluated cattle farmer’s satisfaction with government support programs and compared incomes between farmers using artificial insemination (AI) and natural breeding in Liliriaja District, South Sulawesi. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires and interviews with 150 purposively selected cattle farmers. The Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) method assessed four main indicators: technical service quality, IB availability, income generation, and production yield. The results showed a moderate level of satisfaction (CSI = 73.78%), with the highest score for AI availability (WS = 1.089) due to its critical role in genetic improvement. However, the income support program had the lowest satisfaction (WS = 0.621), highlighting gaps in subsidy accessibility and market linkages. Economically, IB calves generated higher income (IDR 8,500,000/head) compared to natural mating (IDR 6,500,000/head), despite IB requiring higher feed costs. This study underscores the need for policy improvements, including reviving subsidy programs, technical training, and optimal implementation of IB to improve farmers' welfare and sustainable livestock productivity.

Abstract

The development of agricultural technology plays an essential role in increasing rice farming productivity and income, especially in Banua Baru Village, Wonomulyo District, Polewali Mandar Regency. This study aims to analyze the role of agricultural technology in increasing rice productivity, identify obstacles faced by farmers, and formulate strategic recommendations. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach involving four farmers as informants. Data were collected through interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings show that the adoption of technologies such as superior rice varieties, the legowo planting system, and agriculture machinery (tractors, water pumps, combine harvesters) has increased rice yields by 25-30% and reduced production costs by up 15%. However, farmers still face barriers such as high initial investment, rising fuel prices, and limited access to technical training. This study recommends expanding subsidies for equipment, strengthening agriculture extension services, and improving irrigation infrastructure to optimize the use of agriculture technology in rural areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the income comparison between side-grafting and local cocoa farming in Riso Village, Polewali Mandar Regency. The research method used is a quantitative approach with primary and secondary data sources, and sampling was conducted using the Slovin method. Data analysis was performed using income analysis and R/C ratio. The results show that side-grafting cocoa farming is more profitable, with a total income of IDR 72,006,107 per hectare per year. The feasibility analysis indicates that the R/C ratio for side-grafting is 19.4 and for local cocoa farming is 15.6, meaning both types of farming are feasible to run. Side-grafting cocoa farming also has the advantage of easier maintenance, which can save time and costs for farmers. However, farmers need to consider weather factors when performing grafting to increase the success of side-grafting cocoa farming. This research provides valuable information for farmers and policymakers in developing more productive and profitable cocoa farming.
