Abstract

This study examines the contested legal status of traditional sharecropping contracts among Islamic scholars and religious leaders in rural West Java, Indonesia. The primary objective is to analyze how Islamic law governs these contracts both normatively and in practice and how relevant regulations function within the local context. Employing an empirical legal approach, the research relies on direct observation and analysis of legal behavior in society. Findings indicate that the rising value of land and labor has turned traditional sharecropping arrangements into symbols of economic inequality. Ideologically, the legitimacy of such contracts is debated among village groups with varying socio-religious orientations. This contestation reflects an ongoing process of rural Islamization and highlights emerging pragmatism. The increasing accessibility of global information via the internet enables rural communities to reinterpret Islamic legal norms and agricultural practices, illustrating their adaptive responses to socioeconomic change and technological advancement.

Abstract

Basic Geology is a prior knowledge that needs to be supported by a flexible learning environment through the use of mobile technology. Through the supports of mobile technology, students will gain freedom of access because they can be used anytime and anywhere. The progress and speed of technological development, the ease and practicality of using smartphone devices are the potential, opportunities and challenges for presenting mobile technology in learning. The presence of generation Z who are already familiar with technology has reinforced the need to utilize technology to accommodate them in learning better. The aim of this development research is to produce a learning product in the form of a Basic Geology mobile learning application to support learning anywhere and anytime and to determine the feasibility of the product in terms of media and materials, as well as responses from users. This research uses the Lee & Owens model in developing mobile learning applications. Data was collected using a questionnaire filled out by media experts, material experts and service users in the Indonesian Geodiversity Area. The results of this research are (1) user needs for mobile learning to support Basic Geology learning by providing learning resources and building learning communities, (2) producing Basic Geology mobile learning products, (3) results of feasibility tests by media experts, material experts and Individual, small group and field trials show that mobile learning is suitable for use in learning. Keywords: geodiversity; basic geology; mobile learning

Abstract

Technology-based self-directed training has become strategic in human resource competency development, yet varying completion rates necessitate in-depth evaluation of factors influencing participant success. This study aims to identify determining factors for successful completion of self-directed training through comparative analysis of three training topics: Body Language, Scientific Poster, and 3-Minute Presentation. Analysis was conducted on 186 participants using multivariate approaches including crosstabulation analysis, Chi-Square test, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), multivariate analysis, and Linear Discriminant Function Analysis. Demographic data showed female dominance (59.7%) and students (94.1%). Chi-Square analysis revealed no significant relationship between training topics and non-completion rates (p > 0.05). PCA identified two main dimensions: Techno pedagogical Infrastructure dominated by stable internet access (loading 0.837), technical skills (0.812), and familiarity with BRIN Learning Management System (BRILIANT) platform (0.790); and Personal Motivation and Suitability with career goal alignment as the strongest predictor (loading 0.863). Multivariate analysis confirmed that success determinants are consistent across all training topics (p > 0.05). Discriminant analysis showed that participants who successfully completed training had more stable internet access, stronger intrinsic motivation, and higher learning autonomy compared to those who did not complete. Self-directed training success is more determined by technological infrastructure, intrinsic motivation, and self-regulation capabilities rather than specific learning material characteristics. These findings support Self-Determination Theory and emphasize the importance of addressing digital divides and developing autonomous motivation to enhance self-directed learning effectiveness
