Abstract

This study aims to identify and synthesize strategies for managing coastal areas through a systematic literature review. The research adheres to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, focusing on articles published between 2019 and 2023. Data collection utilized Google Scholar and Publish or Perish tools to identify studies related to coastal area management strategies. The inclusion criteria required studies to address coastal management strategies, be written in Indonesian or English, and have been published within the last five years. From an initial pool of 2,000 articles, screening processes narrowed the selection to five articles that met all criteria. The findings underscore the necessity of integrated strategies that balance social, environmental, and economic considerations. Key approaches include empowering local communities, promoting sustainable marine tourism, enhancing disaster resilience through mangrove planting, and fostering stakeholder collaboration. The qualitative synthesis of selected studies emphasizes the significance of adopting participatory methods, such as ICZM, and prioritizing environmental conservation. Successful coastal area management requires harmonizing resource utilization with long-term sustainability to protect ecosystem health and support local livelihoods.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between heavy metal pollution and environmental policy through a bibliometric analysis of research published between 2009 and 2023. Heavy metal contamination, involving toxic elements such as lead, cadmium, and mercury, poses significant risks to human health and ecosystems, particularly in areas of intensive industrial activity. The study aims to assess research trends, policy advancements, and collaborative networks to identify gaps and propose future directions. Data were extracted from Scopus, employing keywords like “heavy metals” and “environmental policy”. Biblioshiny software facilitated analyses of publication trends, geographic distribution, co-authorship networks, and citation impact. The findings reveal a marked increase in research output from 2015, driven by international policy initiatives like the Minamata Convention. China leads in publication volume, reflecting its industrial challenges, while other nations like India and Brazil emphasize collaborative efforts. Keyword analyses highlight themes such as health risks, pollution monitoring, and policy evaluation. The study underscores the critical role of global cooperation in addressing pollution through innovative technologies and effective policies.Future research should explore the impact of climate change on heavy metal mobility, long-term health effects, and the integration of AI and IoT in environmental monitoring. These steps are vital for advancing sustainable solutions to mitigate heavy metal pollution.

Abstract

Abstract

Education plays a vital role in cultivating qualified future generations, with active student participation serving as an indicator of effective learning processes. Preliminary observations at SMP Negeri 32 Padang revealed low engagement levels in science classes, prompting the need for interventions to boost students' involvement. The primary objective of this classroom action research was to enhance student engagement in science learning activities through implementing the Discovery Learning model and Teaching at the Right Level approach in a Grade 8 classroom at SMP Negeri 32 Padang. The study was conducted over three cycles, each consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting phases. Data on student engagement in science learning activities was collected through observations using a rubric. The initial data in Cycle I revealed low engagement at 36.72%. After implementing interventions integrating Discovery Learning activities and personalized scaffolding based on students' ability levels in Cycles II and III, student engagement progressively increased to 45.76% and 62.28% respectively. Surveys and interviews indicated students found the learner-centered, inquiry-based activities more enjoyable and effective for understanding compared to traditional instruction. The findings demonstrate the potential of combining Discovery Learning and Teaching at the Right Level methods to significantly improve learning participation by stimulating intrinsic motivation through autonomous exploration while providing individualized support. The research offers practical strategies for enhancing science education engagement and contributes to the Kurikulum Merdeka goals of fostering participatory, flexible learning environments tailored to students' unique needs

Abstract

This research highlights the potential of anionic polyacrylamide as a main treatment agent for liquid waste from educational laboratories, particularly in the removal of copper ions. This study using experiment with varies the concentration of anionic polyacrylamide with 3, 5, and 7% weight per weight. The initial concentration of copper in liquid waste was very high ranging between 600 mg/L. The findings indicate that the application of anionic polyacrylamide in wastewater treatment significantly reduces the concentration of copper ions, especially in wastewater from educational laboratories. Specifically, anionic polyacrylamide, at a concentration of 3% w/w, effectively removed almost all copper ions from the wastewater found in analytical chemistry laboratory and also achieved the quality standard of treated wastewater for copper parameter. The pH of the treated wastewater is critical in determining the overall effectiveness of the treatment, with a higher pH resulting in more effective coagulation of copper ions. The effectiveness of the treatment is influenced by the pH of the wastewater and the concentration of the polyacrylamide used. Further studies are needed on other types of heavy metals that can be coagulated using this method in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding.
