Abstract

This research investigates the organizational structure and effectiveness of management at Koperasi Pembangunan Usaha Sumatera Barat, utilizing qualitative methods such as observations and interviews. The cooperative's hierarchical framework, which encompasses the General Assembly, managers, and staff, ensures efficient decision-making and consistent implementation of policies. With an experienced manager at the helm, the cooperative places great emphasis on cooperative education and character development, cultivating a culture of honesty and integrity that is crucial for long-term sustainability. The cooperative upholds familial principles and promotes mutual trust, employing a selective recruitment process to ensure alignment with its core values. The cooperative's empathetic approach to problem-solving, which includes pawn systems, collateral sales, and deadline extensions, highlights its ability to handle challenges with compassion. Financial management practices, such as employing professional accounting services and providing quarterly financial reports, guarantee transparency and accountability. Furthermore, the distribution of 40% of profits through the Surplus of Cooperative Efforts (SHU) demonstrates a commitment to fairness and the collective well-being of its members. The study concludes that the cooperative's well-defined organizational structure significantly enhances the effectiveness of its management. The hierarchical organization facilitates transparent operations, while leadership driven by values fosters a cohesive and sustainable culture. These findings hold valuable insights for other cooperatives seeking to enhance their management effectiveness through structured organization and value-based practices.

Abstract

This analysis is based on previous research that focused more on Sharia operational aspects, such as Sharia-based financial products or the Islamic banking system, while the understanding of compliance with Sharia principles in various industry sectors to support Sustainable Business Performance (SBP) is still limited. This study aims to identify, review, and systematize previous research on the impact of compliance with Sharia principles on SBP. The methodology used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PRISMA method with a period of 2020-2024. The results of the study show that compliance with Sharia principles has a significant impact on SBP. Sharia compliance provides an opportunity to build consumer trust, expand access to a wider market, and improve financial resilience and corporate stability, especially through more prudent risk management and the absence of adverse practices.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Islamic economic principles within the Minangkabau inheritance system as a viable solution for poverty alleviation. Focusing on the collective inheritance structure, it examines the alignment of Minangkabau matrilineal practices with Islamic values to enhance social welfare. A qualitative approach was employed, involving an in-depth analysis of inheritance customs, particularly the communal assets such as tanah ulayat (communal land) and rumah adat (traditional houses). Through interviews with local adat leaders, the study investigates how these collective assets reflect Islamic principles of justice and equity. Findings reveal that the Minangkabau inheritance system supports social welfare by preventing asset fragmentation and ensuring shared benefits within the community. This alignment between Islamic values and local customs enhances economic stability, suggesting that collective inheritance models can play a significant role in poverty alleviation efforts. Additionally, the study introduces a model that integrates cultural heritage with Islamic economic principles, underscoring its relevance for community-centered economic development. By examining the Minangkabau inheritance system through an Islamic economic lens, this study offers a unique perspective on community-driven poverty alleviation strategies.
